Although 3D TV sets were among top ten Japanese products that got the biggest sales in 2010, U.S. wasn't ready for that. The results come out after consumers simply avoid of buying new TVs during Christmas season. Decreasing demand was immediatelly reflected on markets were stocks of Best Buy Co dropped nearly 15 percent. Of course that angered investors who were seeking the explanation – why were the real numbers so different from perspective projections? Well it seems that it needs more than the razor thin screen to attract the customer. Some analysts say that many consumers have just bought their first flat widescreen and were not willing to buy another one. Not ev! en in the case it would be 3D. People were not just used to have this kind of watching experience – so for that reason the timing was wrong. The other reason may be also the fact people need 3D glasses to be able to watch – and while it is a funny, new experience for some, many people get dizzy wearing them for longer time. It is not natural to see blurry pictures all around. So far the largest U.S. electronics chain cut its full-year profit and become cautious towards 3D Tvs. But it maybe just for now. There is no doubt that a general demand and sales will increase after 3D broadcast will appear long enough in the movies. Cinemas have already been hitten by the wave of 3D movies and if film makers increase the number of movies based on this technology and eliminate traditional movies, there is no doubt people will get used to it and buy new types of TVs.

Vlna ľadovo chladného vzduchu, ktorá v posledných dňoch sužovala centrálnu časť Spojených štátov sa pomaly presúva smerom na východ, Snehová metelica, čo na chicagskom letisku zastavila viac ako 1575 letov a uzatvorila viacero významných diaľníc v Minnesote, Južnej a Severnej Dakote, Iower a Michigane včera v noci zasiahla región okolo ontárijského jazera, Ohia, Pennsylvanie a štátu New York. Pomaly postupujúca búrka sprevádzaná závejmi a ľadovým vetrom zablokovala cesty a diaľnice aj v tomto regi! 3;ne – nepríjemnú noc v ľadových autách strávilo viac ako 300 vodičov. Ich autá ostali v zápche a snehu asi 65 míľ od Detroitu a po takmer 25 hodinách ich vyslobodili až armádne autobusy a helikoptéry. Vďaka studenému počasiu boli dnes zatvorené stovky škôl, mnohé z tých, ktoré ostali v prevádzke začínali deň až neskoro predpoludním. Záveje a nízke teploty prinútili uzavrieť aj niekoľko horských rekreačných centier v okolí. Počasie si v tomto regióne nevyžiadalo žiadnu obeť ani zraneného, hoci v predchádzajúcich dňoch si v iných častiach krajiny vyžiadalo už 16 mŕtvych. Niektoré diaľnice ostali uzatvorené aj v štáte New York – v utorok popoludní boli z prevádzky vyr! adené dve hlavné diaľnice popri meste Rochester! . Letisk o, ktoré bolo snehom taktiež zasiahnuté, však nezmenilo svoju prevádzku. Hoci sa na pristávacích dráhach udržala vrstva kompaktného snehu, všetky lety prebehli podľa plánu. Výhliadka nie je veľmi optimistická – meteorológovia predpovedajú sneženie – v utorok by malo pribudnúť asi 10 palcov snehu a v ďalších dňoch by to malo byť až do dvoch stôp novej pokrývky. Masa studeného vzduchu sa pohla smerom na východ, avšak časť zasiahla hlboko na juh, pričom dosiahla územie Floridy – tradične subtropického štátu. Tamojší farmári už teraz varujú, že dlhotrvajúca ľadová zima ohrozí budúcoročnú úrodu teplomilných plodín.

There´s been a lot of buzz about internet privacy, since WikiLeaks got a global attention pointing out this problem – however, it seems to grab some interest even among the biggest corporations. Microsof for example suggested its upcoming Internet Explorer 9 would let users add lists of sites to prohibit their access to follow user´s behavior. But the step itself has resulted in a critical discussion about the „privacy“ at all – it´s been a fact that most of browsers let a third party websites track down users who don´t give a clue of being followed. Non tech-savvy people seldom realize they are objects of numerous marketing re! searchers or that their personal data are being sold to a great amount of such companies. Sometimes it can be a kind of strange to realize that all those numerous ads are popping out and have the same content as a person´s interest. Well, this is just one small evidence of the process in the background – this happens with ads on Google, Gmail or Facebook, just to mention few. Now Microsoft sounds its fluorish that IE will prevent the sites from tracking the user. However, no more details have been given, Microsoft for example didn´t respond a question whether user will be able to block all sites or there will be an exception for Microsoft sites. Users are criticall in case of IE that has an image of black hole for all undesired advertising, pop ups and caches. And it´s been a fact that IE has had decreasing popularity between browsers where Mozilla Firefox is regarded as the safest one. According to some critics, most of IE users would not use the ne! w feature due lack of technological knowledge and the whole ca! mpaign m ay fail to meet the target, since IE has more problems and less to offer in current situation – speaking frankly, one „privacy feature“ is not going to save a complicated and inefficient product. To sum all of this – it is generous that a company theoretically let us to decide who may and who may not track us down, but let me ask the question – shouldn´t that be done automatically? Shouldn´t we get a protection from the very beginning? So why do I smell this absurd „glorious“ tune in Microsoft´s attitude?

Odkedy WikiLeaks prerazili mediálne embargo, zdá sa, že téma internetovej ochrany je stále viac aktuálnejšia – rezonuje medzi najväčšími firmami a zdá sa, že je in cez túto tému predávať staro-nové produkty. Vezmime si napríklad Microsoft, ktorý nedávno ohlásil, že najnovšia verzia jeho prehliadača Internet Explorer 9 bude mať zabudovaný mechanizmus, ktorý dovolí užívateľovi vytvoriť zoznam web stránok, ktoré by ho v budúcnosti nemali sledovať. Ale správa, ktorá mala vyvola&! #357; azda vlnu obdivu, vyvolala na fórach skôr kritickú diskusiu o bezpečnosti na sieti, ako takej. Nuž, je faktom, že mnoho technicky neznalých užívateľov (ktorých je drvivá väčšina) ani netuší, že sú počas pripojenia neustále sledovaní. Sledujú sa zoznamy navštívených stránok, počty navštívení a preferencie – to isté sa deje aj s osobnými údajmi. Cez Google, Gmail alebo Facebook sú predávané tretím stranám – najčastejšie marketingovým spoločnostiam alebo poisťovniam, ktoré ich nielen uchovávajú, ale svoje kampane zakladajú práve na týchto informáciách. To všetko sa samozrejme deje bez znalosti užívateľa, ktorý si najčastejšie všimne, že vyskakujúce pop u! p reklamy majú podivne zhodné zameranie s jeho vlast! ným i záujmami. Je to však len malý dôkaz tohto ohromného zákulisného procesu. A keď teraz Microsof rozozvučí fanfáry a predstavuje novú ochranu, vyvoláva skôr ironický úsmev. Internet Explorer by mal blokovať užívateľom vybrané stránky, avšak nešpecifikoval, či tento zoznam bude fungovať na všetky stránky alebo sa vyskytnú výnimky (ako stránky Microsoftu napr...). Mnoho užívateľov je kritických ohľadom celého IE ako takého – medzi prehliadačmi má najhorší imidž, o čom svedčí aj fakt, že v rebríčku používateľných sa umiestňuje na nízkych miestach, pričom za najbezpečnejší sa stále považuje Mozilla Firefox. Kritici taktiež upozorňujú, že bezpečno! stný plug in môže byť menej úspešný aj vďaka tomu, že väčšina užívateľov IE nie je veľmi technicky zdatná a neuvedomuje si ani problém a vôbec nie riešenie. Okrem toho, tento plugin pravdepodobne nezachráni povesť celého IE. A ak sa teda Microsoft skutočne blahosklonne podsúva užívateľovi s istou ochranou – je namieste otázka – nemal by toto všetko robiť úplne automaticky a od samého začiatku? Prečo s toho robí nemiestnu kampaň, ktorá sa javí byť nebezpečne dvojsečnou...

I know some people who buy electronic goods because of brands, they virtually don't care that much for the content, they simply buy it for image. Some people buy it for software, it's simple, if you don't want viruses, buy Mac platform, if you want that kind of operation platform, buy this smartphone or that computer. Corporations know the power of branding and it seems to be quite a trend to buy according to image of one part of a whole mechanism. Let's take Google for instance. It tried so hard to promote its Android operation system, putting it on smartphones and expanding its own image in every possible way. Now there are reports that basically say, buy Android phone, n! ot buy Samsung smartphone with Android. We can see that one part, a software has taken leadership over the whole product. The brand new browser Chrome is the same case And Google seems to be doing well with Chrome so far. Well it was just a matter of time to put Android on notebooks and Pcs. However, the plan to launch first volume of Chrome based notebooks before Christmas and hang on shopping maddness was perhaps too ambitious. The company reported it would miss Christmas season due software problems and errors. The difference between Chrome and any other notebook will be better internet communication and less software. So Chrome will be strong enough to broadcast more and more applications via network, so the machine itself will have less software. It may be good for some, but on the other way it means notebook user will be more and more dependent on network and its capacity. And of course it is just a step from paying for every software use in time. So instead of buyin! g one permanent software, permanent movie or music download, u! sers wil l be required to pay for instant use and access to data or programs. And that's what I call real IT goldmine!

Poznám mnoho ľudí, ktorí elektroniku kupujú len pre značku. Na samotnom výkone a obsahu im tak veľmi nezáleží, kupujú proste Toshibu, Apple alebo Sony. To, čo nimi aj dnes silne hýbe je imidž značky. Niektorí zasa elektroniku kupujú pre sofwareové výhody. Je to jednoduché – nechcete vírusy – kúpte si Mac (aj keď by ste ten istý efekt dosiahli použitím Linuxu, napr.). Ak chcete tento OS, kúpte si tento smartphone alebo tento notebook. Stáva sa teda bežným fenoménom, že čiastka preváži i! midž celého produktu – zoberme si napríklad Google. Táto spoločnosť pred niekoľkými rokmi začala promo kampaň pre svoj operačný systém Android a zdá sa, že sa im podarilo presadiť. Ponúkajú sa Android telefóny, nie telefóny Samsung s OS Android. Opäť software udáva imidž celému produktu. Prípad internetového prehliadača Chrome je ten istý. Zdá sa, že Google si s Chrome počína veľmi dobre a bolo len otázkou času, kedy trhy zaplaví „nový“ produkt – Chrome notebook alebo počítač s primárnym internetovým prehliadačom Chrome. Akokoľvek zdá sa, že spustiť Chrome notebooky v predvianočnom čase a využiť nákupnú horúčku bol aj pre giganta ako je Google, príliš veľk! 3; sústo. Spoločnosť potvrdila, že prv! 5; s 3;ria pc do predaja príde najskôr budúci rok – v súčasnosti pracuje na odstránení softwareových chýb. Although Australia suggest a speed of 100 megabits per second will be a standard, government science agency CSIRO teams have recognized it is a long way to go for people living in remote places. According to CSIRO a new technology will soon be tested in villages with less than 1,000 inhabitants.

I am not even sure that one of the biggest legends of the today's cinema even had that intention. The 26 year old millionaire invited all of his collegues to watch the movie together. But, still for him the film was funny. He especially liked the parts of the clothing choice for the characters, but he didn't like the idea that he made Facebook, so he could be popular with girls. In an CBS interview, Zuckerberg announced some new things about Facebook, like that he didn't use the chance to sell the brand to Yahoo for one billion dollars four years ago. He announces as well that his team is working on the privacy policy of the Facebook half a billion users. They plan a better profile pages highlight. After some 10 years of existence on the net, this fighter against courts has lost the battle with the music industry. But, unfortunately, the end came for this site. The New York court brought a decision that the file sharing service site that had about 50 million users just in a month had inflicted “irreparable harm” on the music industry. Other part of the judgment says that the company must stop the sharing of copyrighted works. As far as the legal offering was concerned which showed a close collaboration with the major record labels in the last six years that wasn’t anything wrong. So, everybody who wants some more music for free can use that chance few more weeks, till the end of the year. The officials say that it is time for LimeWire to shut its virtual doors. "As a result of our current legal situation, we have no choice but to wind down LimeWire S! tore operations. FTC proposes privacy ptotecting “Do Not Track“ mechanism by Zuzana Zelenakova

The US Federal Trade Commission has proposed so called Do Not Track mechanism aimed at protecting users´ privacy while browsing the Internet. The agency has been working on the report released Wednesday for the past year. "The FTC wants to help ensure that the growing, changing, thriving information marketplace is built on a framework that promotes privacy, transparency, business innovation and consumer choice," FTC chairman Jon Leibowitz said in a statement. The mechanism is aimed mainly at online advertisers´ practices of monitoring the movement of consumers on the Internet and subsequently analysing their preferences. As the report suggest the most practical s! olution would be to target the problem through a setting on the computer browser, a switch that would enable people to prevent their online behaviour from being tracked. "Today's technology makes it easy for companies to obtain, collect, store, and transfer unprecedented amounts of information, but industry self regulation has proven inadequate to protect consumers," reads the report. "Industry must do better." The commission has also proposed that the companies introduce consumer privacy into their everyday practices collecting only data that are necessary and then deleting them for safety purposes. Another step is to make privacy policies that "consumers typically do not read, let alone understand" more simple and shorter. The feedback from the companies is expected by January 31, later next year the FTC would like to have the new framework implemented. “It doesn’t resolve all the issues raised by behavioral advertising, but it would give people more control o! ver the collection and use of their information until we can h! ash out the rest of the complex issues that would be involved in getting some baseline privacy regulation,” says Susan Grant, director of consumer protection at the Consumer federation of America, about the proposed changes that should be only a partial solution.

Americká Federálna obchodná komisia (Federal Trade Commission) prišla s návrhom mechanizmu zameraného na ochranu osobných dát spotrebiteľa na internete pod názvom Do Not Track (Nesledovať). Vládna agentúra pracovala na tomto návrhu, ktorý bol zverejnený v stredu, v priebehu celého tohto roka. „FTC sa snaží o meniaci sa, vyvíjajúci sa a prekvitajúci trh založený na princípoch ochrany informácií, transparentnosti, podnikateľskej inovácie a voľbe spotrebiteľa,“ povedal predseda FTC Joel Leibovitz vo svojom vyhl&! #225;sení. Mechanizmus sa zameriava najmä na internetové reklamné praktiky, kedy inzerenti sledujú pohyb spotrebiteľa po internete, aby takto získané informácie využili v rámci svojho marketingu. Ako hovorí správa FTC najlepšie by bolo problém vyriešiť prostredníctvom nastavení v prehliadači, akéhosi vypínača, ktorý by ľuďom umožnil predchádzať tomu, aby ich kroky na internete niekto zaznamenával. „Dnešné technológie spoločnostiam umožňujú získavať, ukladať a prenášať obrovské množstvo informácií, no samoregulácia priemyslu sa ukázala ako nedostatočná pre zabezpečenie ochrany spotrebiteľov,“ stojí v správe. „Priemysel musí urobiť viac.“ FTC takisto navrhla aby spoloč! ;nosti zahrnuli ochranu spotrebiteľských dát do! svojich každodenných postupov a zbierali len informácie, ktoré nevyhnutne potrebujú a potom ich v rámci zachovanie bezpečnosti vymazali. Ďalším krokom by malo byť aj zjednodušenie rôznych dokumentov týkajúcich sa ochrany súkromia, pretože sú často veľmi obsiahle a nezrozumiteľné a „spotrebitelia ich väčšinou ani nečítajú, a už vôbec nie aby im rozumeli.“ Spätnú väzbu od spoločností FTC očakáva do 31. Januára, už neskôr v budúcom roku by chcela mať agentúra tieto zmeny uvedené do platnosti. „Tieto opatrenia by ľuďom rozhodne dali viac kontroly nad zhromažďovaním a používaním informácií týkajúcich sa ich osôb až kým by sme nenašli nejaké účinnejšie rie! šenie v tejto otázke,“ hovorí Susan Grantová z Americkej spotrebiteľskej federácie o návrhu FTC, ktorý je len čiastočným riešením problému.

The extremely rising sell of mobile phones and all other handheld devices have persuaded the U.S. telecommunications regulators to approve more airwaves for wireless services. When technology goes ahead, than everything must follow it. No matter how it sounds, but human kind today is a complete technical dependent being. I mean, take a look at one teenager, and even preteens, they are turning into total tech-maniacs, the best way to punish them is to forbid them to watch TV, to play Play Station, to chat on Facebook, or use all those communicative gadgets that attract their attention. It's gone way too far! The FCC now expects some criticism from the public on this subject! , but their attitude mainly is that the acute infrastructure is not strong enough to withstand all the users' needs. One of the institutions' idea is to persuade the TV broadcasters to give up some of the airwaves, so the users of iPhone or RIM's BlackBerry etc. could use their phones for downloading better. Some of them have done it even without a blink of an eye. The most important question that should be answered on some next meeting would be the improvement of the Internet services, or more precisely the net neutrality rules which is so important to Internet providers. But, what happens after the airwaves are going to be released? Who would get them and how will the split go? The Congress has already approved auctions of the airwaves, so the agency would just have to use the chance. And I asked myself, why would someone give up voluntarily from the airwaves? Analysts say that that could also be broadcasters tactics to get a good compensation.

Although the whole world focus on Korean affair last days, Tokyo is still living its own, kind of yeasty life, let's just focus on recent list of top ten up beating things in Japan. According to Dentsu's annual „Hit Product Recognition Survey“ the higest position belongs to smartphone products. The list didn't focus on sale incomes, but on image of products. And they were different. Japan people know and cheerish smartphones, Twitter (compared to expected Facebook) that took the second place. The third most appreciated item was surprisingly Munchable chili oil, then Digital broadcasting widescreen TV and fifth place belonged to popular historical figure Ryoma Sa! kamoto. Sakamoto was pre-image for Samurai drama series. 6th most „Japanese“ thing was International Airport at Haneda. It is interesting that even a building got a place in Japanese mental map – the seventh place went to Tokyo Sky Tree (broadcasting tower that will be completed in two years). Energy efficient theme was also „in“ among Japan people that may be significant progress when one realizes Japan is one of the most consuming nations in the world. Also World Cup penetrated minds and recognition of Japan people – the ninth place among the most recognized Japan products was national football team that made passed the qualifications and fought bravely, but with honest loss against Denmark. Hoci sa zdá, že ázijským kauzám dominuje nedávna vojenská prestrelka medzi Severnou a Južnou Kóreou, z Tokia, multi miliónového mesta žijúceho svojim vlastným životom prichádza iná správa. Tento krát odľahčujúca, možno až frivolná. V Japonsku sa totižto zverejnil ročný zoznam „naj-japonskejších produktov“ alebo najúspešnejších 10 produktov, ktoré sa za rok 2010 dostali do povedomia verejnosti. Podľa tzv. Denstsuovho každoročného prieskumu verejného povedomia je jasn! é, že Japonci za posledný rok najviac oceňovali „chytré telefóny“ - prieskum však neuvádzal konkrétnu značku. Druhé miesto v popularite obsadila sociálna sieť Twitter, čo je istotne dôležitá správa pre najväčší Facebook, ktorý sa v Japonsku nedokázal takto presadiť. Tretím najpopulárnejším artiklom bola čili omáčka, potom nasledovali širokouhlé LCD televízne obrazovky a prvú päticu uzatvorila historická osobnosť – Ryoma Sakamoto, ktorý sa stal predobrazom pre spracovanie seriálu so samurajskou tematikou. Šieste miesto patrilo letisku v Hanede. Prieskum nezohľadňoval výsledky predaja, ale sústredil sa de facto na imidž značiek a produktov. Siedmym naj-japonskejším produktom sa stala, opäť netradi! 9;ne stavba. Ide o tzv. „tokijský nebeský stro! m“ alebo televíznu vežu, ktorá by mala byť dokončená až o dva roky. Je to zaujímavá informácia pre humánnych geografov a všetky profesie, ktoré sa venujú priestorovému plánovaniu a vplyvu priestoru na obyvateľov. Veža sa teda zapísala do mentálnej mapy mesta. Ôsme miesto patrilo energeticky úsporným produktom, čo môže byť v japonskej spoločnosti vnímaný ako pozitívny posun, nakoľko Japonci patria medzi najväčších energetických konzumentov planéty. Deviate miesto v poradí zaujal japonský, národný, futbalový tím, ktorý sa v tohtoročným majstrovstvách sveta dokázal prebojovať cez kvalifikačné kolo medzi 16 najlepších tímov sveta. Desiatym najpopulárnejším artiklom bol produkt opäť, &#! 269;isto japonský – šlo o žiariace LED diódy. Najvýraznejšou zmenou oproti minulému roku bol prepad lacných, japonských módnych značiek, ktoré tento rok spadli na 13. pozíciu a vyradili sa zo zoznamu kandidátov na najúspešnejšiu desiatku roku 2011.

It was just yesterday when I came across an article that one Slovak company has patented a name „Vysoké Tatry“ and put a registration mark on it. You say, ok, nevermind. But if you look closer, you will know that the name „Vysoké Tatry“ is an official name for a city lying in Slovak highest and once the most beautiful national park. The mountains of wild, rocky peaks reaching up to 2,600 meters that are just awesome are called the same name - „Vysoké Tatry“. And here we come to the situation that a company for a product registers this name on its own. The name that is pointing to the city and to the great, precious and bre! athtaking area. The name is now a symbol for a product, but who knows it? Privatisation is a trend of our era, that is out of question, the question remains to which extent it is still acceptable. What happens if tomorrow someone decides to register a word „sun“ or a „moon“ for its product or necessity and whole human kind will have to pay for using that word. The system that some businessmen and politicians label as „ethical“ is lacking the smallest sense of logic. But I am sure, it is a perfect motive for an absurd comedy as well as it should be a motive for grave discussion. Yesterday Facebook succeeded with registering the word „face“ for its business purposes. U.S. Patent and Trademark accepted Facebook could use in certain context, literally only for „telecommunication services, providing online chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards for transmission of messages among computer users in the field of general inte! rest and concerning social and entertainment subject matter, n! one prim arilu featuring or relating to monitoring or to cars“ - at least that's what does the document say. So from now on Facebook has a monopoly to use „face“ in this field. The company is also fighting to register another word „book“ so it would have another reason to sink down social network Teachbook.com on the trial. Let's just hope Facebook will not have tastes for adapting whole dictionary or will not get inspired by Slovak model.

And in this term, business reports are expecting increasing volume of sales up to 11 percent. The projection has increased from initial 7 percent then to 9 percent and for now it stopped around 11 percent. The major part of sales should be done via internet or on-line. This way of shopping is getting more and more influence not only in the U.S. but also in Europe and developed Asian countries. The biggest retailer is Amazon.com that generates about 43 percent of its sales incomes from foreign countries. Consumers are expec! ted to buy 11 percent of more goods (mostly toys, electronics, furniture, etc) and this projection is excluding food and gas or petrol products. According to comScore analyst company total weekend e-commerce spending should reach $32.4 billion that is quite a significant amout in one counts the National Retail Federation projection for annual 2010 holiday retail sales to $447.1 billion. The quote is 2.3 percent up comparing to 2009. 11 percent outlook is based on the first 21 days of November and December season. 21 days have generated income of $9.01 billion, said comScore. But the question arises whether it is a sustainable trend, since social conditions in the U.S. have not improoved. Len včera som natrafila na absurdný článok o tom, že istá slovenská firma sa rozhodla patentovať si názov „Vysoké Tatry“. Pre tých, ktorí nevedia, čo tieto slová znamenajú, ide o originálny názov mesta a najvyššieho slovenského pohoria. Názov, ktorý označuje unikátne roztrúsené horské mesto a masívne kamenné štíty dosahujúce závratných 2600 metrov odteraz patrí bezmennej spoločnosti, ktorá cez tento odkaz bude generovať zisk. Spoločnosť teraz môže ťa&! #382;iť z iného významu názvu a ukradnutie nuž a pre nás vyvstáva otázka, do akej miery je toto etické? Podľa obchodných zákonov SR je toto etické, avšak, môžeme sa spýtať kam s týmto etickým spôsobom môžeme zájsť? Predstavme si situáciu, že onedlho bude mať nejaká spoločnosť dostatok peňazí nato, aby si kúpila slovo „slnko“ alebo „mesiac“ alebo „ruka“ a bude od nás ľudí požadovať, aby sme za vyslovenie tohto slova platili...Že to znie absurdne? Ani v najmenšom – nie je to právne zakázané, a teda je to povolené, a teda je to etické... Včera si najväčšia sociálna sieť Facebook zaregistrovala slovo „face“ alebo tvár. Americký patentový úrad po piat! ich rokoch toto slovo predat pre účely telekomunik&#! 225;cie, chatu a služieb spájajúcich sa so sociálnou sieťou. Nuž Facebook má teraz monopol na používanie tohto slova v uvedených prípadoch... Ale nehodlá skončiť len pri „face“, spoločnosť požiadala už o registráciu slova „book“. V tom prípade by získala významný argument a mohla by konečne potopiť sociálnu sieť Teachbook.com, s ktorou sa sporí o autorstvo... Nuž nie sme od uvedeného Kocúrkova tak ďaleko. Dúfajme, že sa Facebookom neinšpirujú ďalší a že Facebook zasa nesiahne po onom slovenskom modeli...

Money never sleeps, doesn't it? Fighting for the market and the customers, all communicative companies are doing everything possible to earn the peoples attention. In a time when it is not at all easy to gain your public, knowing how much competing there is, every body is trying to be more innovative and to win over the market. Whenever I think on this issue, there are few companies that always come to my mind. There we have Apple, we have RIM, we have Google...And that's not like for nothing. They are the fast growing companies in the business in the last few years. And now, what's the new with Google? The Internet browser aims to improve its YouTube service and make it! a more often destination for users, but not only for clips limited on short time, but being able to watch a movie, as well. And how would Google achieve that? Some news say that Google's managers have put their eyes on Miramax's archives which are in the hands of Filmyard Holdings. The talks are for about some 700 films. Some of the titles are Trainspotting, No land for old men, Pulp Fiction... And just when you think you have thought of something original, there comes the competition. Google is facing Netflix company that has the streaming possibility, because they also are about to win over the Miramax offer. Up to four months, Miramax belonged to Walt Disney Co, but for some 660 million dollars, they went in the hands of Filmyard Holdings. And now, it is up to the new owner to decide whom to give the digital rights to. But it is expected that by the end of this year the "winner" will be known.

The American corporation Netflix that works on the issue of video streaming on the Internet and Blu and Blu-ray Disc rental in the U.S. now has came up with a new idea. That, when you think a bit better is nothing so extremely new, but it's like the managers have found a way to improve the company's profit by including a streaming-only subscription plan for the States and raise the prices of other streaming and U.S. plans. I suppose consumers are not going to be that satisfied with the new program, but that's the thing. The 13 year old company that is centered in California is already doing pretty well on the Stock. Last year, the company's collection rose to 100,000 titles! on DVD and they had more than surprisingly 10 million subscribers. The biggest benefit that Netflix wants to achieve with this step is to reduce the DVDs by mail. According to some analysts, the DVD sell is pretty limited and the streaming still shows a better future. And now, off course, the users' prices are going be higher and the thing is the new subscribers are going to pay right away the new price and the old ones can wait until January. The prices are going to be much higher than before and the company is kind a expecting the subscribers number to fall for some hundreds of thousands. Well, in business one must take risks, because there is no profit if there is no risk. As for the numbers, in the last quarter, the company had some 16.9 million members in the U.S and in Canada. The officials have still a lot to do in improving the streaming video library compared with its DVD by-mail selection, but I believe they are going to improve that as well.

State-owned company China Telecom successfully rerouted American data, says Washinghton. by Milota Sidorova

Another interesting news came out from Washinghton last weekend. The Defense Department agreed that the U.S. Internet traffic was „hijacked“ by China. The traffic of massive volume was rerouted into Chinese servers, said the report of U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commision that has been released on Wednesday. The date of this massive internet attack is significant because it turns out to be public after more than seven months. The traffic was rerouted during 18 minutes on April 8th. The reactions on this situation are however expected, Washinghton blames Beijing and Beijing refuses complaints. According to Chinese representatives the report is just di! storting reality and recalling Cold war atmosphere and attack Chinese image. The company that stays behind 18 minutes theft is state-owned China Telecom, but the company rejects the blame. The report specifies that affected websites and emails belonged to Secretary of Defense Robert Gate's office, the armed forces and some commercial websites, the hijack was done via false notifications that prompted American servers to route data flow through China. But the report at the same time doesn't say whether this action happened on purpose or just by an accident. In any case this should be an object of investigation and further and more public discussion. Last years there has been increasing amount of cases of data and privacy violation of the cyberspace done illegaly even by the most powerful companies, including Google, Facebook, Yahoo and many others. Reality often proves that security encryption standards are really low. But it may be too rushy to connect it with this interna! tional rerouting. The motives and consequences are beyond our ! reach. W ell what happens if someone or something can successfully attack data flow of private or business even national character?

Egypt is calling for a change, obviously. However, it becomes evident that political reform cannot be achieved solely through Facebook and other Internet sites. And so the Internet campaigns lose tractions as they fail to transform into real movements outside the virtual domain. Many are convinced a desired change could come with one man, Mohamed ElBaradej, the former head of the UN nuclear watchdog. He acquired about one million supporters through Facebook, however, he failed to address this kind of campaign or do anything about it, and so it gradually died out. There is only one week left before a parliamentary election that National Democratic Party (NDP) is expected to! win once again and no one truly believes an online campaign could offer sufficient support to a unified opposition movement. "There are (labor) strikes happening on the ground but has the organized opposition managed to interact with them or not? Unfortunately, I have to say, the opposition's performance has been largely dismal," said blogger Hossam Hamalawy. Although Facebook was viewed as the trigger in case of 2008 protests against rising prices and low wages and subsequent clashes with police Hamalawy says it was not credited rightfully. "It was people on the ground not connected to Facebook who rioted...in Mahalla," he said. "The Internet can just provide a platform for solidarity with that movement on the ground." All in all, it cannot be denied that "The internet has revolutionised political life in Egypt“, as Kamel al-Sayyid, a politics profesor at the American University in Cairo, said. "It's a tool enabling opposition groups, particularly those who are subj! ect to suppression by the government, to communicate with thei! r member s and co-ordinate activities." Posledný víkend prišla z Washinghtonu zaujímavá správa. Ministerstvo Obrany Spojených štátov de facto potvrdilo informáciu, že americká internetová prevádzka bola v minulosti „unesená“ čínskymi servermi. Terčom útoku boli podľa výročnej správy Americko-čínskej bezpečnostnej komisie veľké objemy dát, presmerované na čínske servery. Dátum tejto udalosti je asi najzavujímavejší – verejnosť sa o útoku dozvedá po viac ako siedmych mesiacoch. Dáta boli do Č! 7;ny presmerované počas 18 minút 8. apríla 2010. Reakcie oboch strán zatiaľ neprekačujú očakávania – Washinghton obviňuje Peking, Peking samozrejme obvinenia odmieta. Podľa čínskej vlády správa realitu situácie zámerne skresľuje a snaží sa vyvolať atmosféru ako počas Studenej vojny. Spoločnosť, ktorá stojí za 18 minútovým únosom dát, podľa správy štátom vlastnená komunikačná spoločnosť China Telecom – taktiež odmietla obvinenie. Správa zároveň špecifikovala, že terčom útoku boli stránky a mailová komunikácia kancelárie Roberta Gatesa, sekretára ministerstva obrany, ďalej ozbrojené sily a niektoré komerčné stránky. Útok prebehol prostredníctvom falošn! 53;ch notifikácií, ktoré poslala China Telecom ! ostatn&# 253;m serverom. Po týchto notifikáciach, servery presmerovali dáta do Číny. Správa na druhej strane neuvádza, či šlo o plánovaný útok alebo náhodný incident. Incident by sa však mal stať predmetom vyšetrovania a ďalšej verejnej diskucie. Posledné roky narastá počet prípadov, kedy dôjde k úmyselnému odcudzeniu dát, a to nielen cea hackerské útoky. Dáta a súkromie sú narúšané aj najväčšími spoločnosťami na svete, medzi ktorými figurujú aj Google, Facebook alebo Yahoo. A realita v mnohých prípadoch odhalí veľmi nízku úroveň ochrany. Motívy a dôsledky 18 minútového presmerovania sú predmetom dlhej diskusie. Nuž a všetky dôsledky si nemusíme ani predstaviť, začnite však ot! 25;zkou: „Čo sa stane, ak niekto alebo niečo úspešne ovládne dáta súkromného, ochodného alebo národného charakteru...?“

Je očividné, že Egypt volá po zmene. Avšak tiež je zjavné, že politiká reforma sa nedá uskutočniť ln prostredníctvom Facebook-u a iných internetových domén. A tak internetové kampane pomaly ale isto strácajú na sile a dôležitosti keďže sa nevedia pretransformovať na reálne hnutia. Mnohí sa domnievajú, že vytúženú zmenu by mohol priniesť jeden muž, Mohamed ElBaradej, bývalý šéf Medzinárodnej agentúry pre atómovú energiu. Na Facebook-u získal približne jeden mili&! #243;n nasledovateľov, avšak nijakým spôsobom túto situáciu nevyužil a kampaň tak pomaly pohasla. Do parlamentných volieb, ktoré by mala podľa všeobecných očakávaní opäť vyhrať Národná demokratická strana, zostáva už iba týždeň a analytici ani aktivisti neveria, že by internetová kampaň mohla poskytnúť dostatočnú podporu opozičnému hnutiu. „Síce sa organizujú štrajky, no nadviazala s nimi opozícia bližší kontakt, alebo spoluprácu? Nanešťastie musím konštatovať, že opozícia si vôbec nepočínala dobre,“ povedal bloger Hossam Hamalawy. Hoci Facebook-u sa pripisovala kľúčová úloha v prípade protestom proti zvyšovaniu cien a nízkym mzdám v roku 2008, ktor! 3; napokon viedli k stretom s políciou, že tieto z&#! 225;sluh y sú mu pripisované neprávom. „Boli to ľudia v uliciach, a nie tí prihlásení na Facebook-u, ktorí protestovali v Mahalle,“ povedal. „Internet len môže reálnemu hnutiu poskytnúť zázemie, solidaritu.“ V každom prípade, nedá sa poprieť, že „internet priviedol politický život v Egypte na úplne inú úroveň“, ako povedal profesor Kamel al-Sayyid vyučujúci na Americkej univerzite v Káhire. „Je to nástroj, ktorý umožňuje opozičným skupinám, hlavne tým, ktoré sú obeťami vládneho útlaku, komunikovať so svojimi členmi a koordinovať rôzne aktivity.“ Avšak i toto médium má svoje hranice, keďže z 80 miliónovej populácie internet využíva len 13 miliónov.

Finally, after seven years Apple managed to get the Beatles´ classic catalog to the iTunes. It certainly is agreat satisfaction for Apple CEO Steve Jobs who is a great Beatles fan himself. All 13 albums of the legendary band can be now downloaded through the world´s most popular music retailer. "I am particularly glad to no longer be asked when Beatles are coming to iTunes," Ringo Starr said in a statement. "At last, if you want it, you can get it." You can get one song for $1.29, albums are sold at $12.99, and double albums at $19.99. Beatles on iTunes are expected to boost significantly Apple´s digital music revenue in the last quarter. "This could help b! roaden the demographic range, maybe sell more iPods," said BGC Partners analyst Colin Gillis."In the holiday quarter, iPod sales really matter for Apple. We're looking at north of 20 million iPods sold. This certainly doesn't hurt that." The deal is the result of seven years of negotiations between Steve Jobs, Beatles management company Apple Corps and the Beatles label EMI. Všetkých 13 albmov tejto hudobnej legendy sa dá teraz stianuť prostredníctvom najúspešnejšieho hudobného prehrávača na svete. „Ja osobne som veľmi rád, že už nebudem musieť odpovedať na otázky, kedy budú Beatles konečne na iTunes,“ povedal Ringo Starr. „Teraz keď tú hudbu chcet! e, stiahnete si ju.“ Jedna pesnička stojí 1,29 dolárov, celý album sa dá kúpiť za 12,99 dolárov a dvojalbum za 19,99. San Francisco - Web 2.0 conference. A duel between Google and Facebook expected. Who will squeeze maximum from the media attention? Who will win the bid with better offer? Will it be Facebook with its email feature or Google with unknown surprise? For now it's hard to compare, but both CEO's threw a media bomb into the audience. While Facebook was expected, Google came out with the announcement of its new Android smartphone. Naturally, Google has been producing several smartphones based on almost two year old operating system and so far, it has been quite success, but not that much so one could speak about „breaking news“. Google collaborating with Motorola nad ! Samsung have launched their Android phones past months, but it wasn't that shiny, since many similar products have appeared as well. The question was, what could Google's CEO Eric Schmidt say to regain the attention back? Well, yesterday he announced Google's new release will be a pioneer and a progressive piece of work if it comes to combination of smartphones and payments. Phone should be able to replace credit cards, including interactive chip being able to pay. But it should be more secured than common credit cards. Phones will feature „Near Field Communication“ that will enable to send payment data of the owner to vendors that will have to use the same kind of compatibile technology. Although it seems like a new and progressive trend, Schmidt suggested that it was just far away from days when phones would replace credit cards in daily routines.

Social networking is a phenomenon defining 21st century to a great extent. But how much is too much? Facebook, Twitter and whatever other social networking services there are have become so incorporated in our lives that one simply cannot avoid the question: when will people come to realize there are certain threats to this kind of socializing and act accordingly? What is the point of sharing with so many when you are not even aware of that and the feedback or meaningful interaction is lacking? Maybe this is what Dave Morin, ex-Facebooker noticed and decided to do something about it. The result? New social networking startup called Path was launched Monday. The main idea,! which sort of represents the opposite of Facebook ideology, is that you share photos, at least for now they are just photos, with people closest to you, your inner circle of family and friends, colleagues maybe, with maximum of 50 people. While Facebook is designed to expand your circle of friends and put more of your stuff out there for public to see, Path´s idea is reverse. “Because your personal network is limited to your 50 closest friends and family, you can always trust that you can post any moment, no matter how personal. Path is a place where you can be yourself. Simply take a photo with your camera on iPhone or iPod Touch and add context around that moment in the form of tags for people, places, and things. These tags provide three types of context which we think help capture a moment,” reads the Path blog. Path is a free iPhone app which raises question whether it will manage to break through in already crowded market. However, its founding team! suggests it has a very good chance to find its way. Hrací senzor Kinect navrhnutý firmou Microsoft pre Xbox 360 bol uvedený na trh 4. novembra. Firmy dúfa v značné zvýšenie výnosov v poslednom štvrťroku vďaka tomuto novému produktu. Podľa prognóz, ktoré Microsoft vypracoval by sa do konca roka mohlo predať približne 5 miliónov kusov. Počas prvých desiatich dní, čo je Kinect v obchodoch sa predalo 1 milión kusov. „Je to vynikajúci začiatok,“ povedal Don Mattrick, vedúci hernej divízie spoločnosti. „Ludia ho prosto milujú.“ Zariadenie, ktoré stoj! 7; asi 150 dolárov umožňuje hráčom hrať hry len prostredníctvom hlasových pokynov a pohybov. Okrem navýšenia výnosu Microsoft takisto dúfa, že sa mu podarí oslabiť pozíciu rivalov v tejto oblasti, teda hracích konzol Wii od Nintenda a Move od spoločnosti Sony. Prvé prognózy pre Kinect predpokladali 3 milióny predaných kusov do konca roka, avšak Don Mattrick natoľko verí v jeho úspech, že číslo posunul na 5 miliónov. „Predpredaj predčil všetky naše očakávania,“ povedal Mattrick. „Ľudia sa na nás obracajú s tým, že je to takmer nutnosť teraz keď sa blížia sviatky.“ Takže, jediný problém, ktorý by sa mohol vyskytnúť je vyčerpanie zásob. „Očakávame, že niektorý z naši! ch partnerov do sviatkov Kinect vypredajú, takže to ! je nie&# 269;o čo sa budeme snažiť vyriešiť,“ hovorí Mattrick. V porovnaní s hracími konzolami Nintndo Wii a Sony Move je Kinect inovatívny v tom, že pri hre nemusíte stláčať žiadne gombíky ani držať nič v rukách. Apple is not wasting its time and efforts. Californian based company is par excellence of a company with highly specified and carefully prepared marketing strategy. It has relied on the very essence of human psychology – emotions. Because rarely it is rational thinking that is making us feel good or satisfied towards products, goods or brands, it is as it always was – our emotions are playing key role. For Apple it means to become a part of your day, family, it means to become your friend, troubleshooter and very cool buddy as well. Just look through their ads and sites – yesterday it posted quite common advertisment – it was promising new, improved ! version of iTunes. But the way how it was posted was interesting: „Tomorrow is just another day. That you'll never forget“. This message was so exagerrated that it was remarkable. Of course I ignored the ad, because I wasn't that keen on spending my time searching for any kind of minor update Apple was offering. But the ad was telling – Come back people, come back at 7 a.m. and check the update. And although I didn't mean to come back at 7 a.m. My computer has already informed me that there was a new update. The situation is really interesting – minor updates of programs that are just part of software package are not that interesting for most of the population. But Apple made it almost a sensation – come back and check – although they were sending regular update message to all its users. This is certainly a trend in marketing and ad strategies – to be in emotional, persuasive touch with clients and customers that will eventually be! come a part of one corporate family. Controller.free Kinect gaming system developed by Microsoft for Xbox 360 was launched in North America on November 4. The company hopes for significant revenue increase for this quarter due to Kinect. According to Microsoft´s projections 5 million units should be sold by the end of the year. So far, 1 million gaming systems have been sold. "It's a strong start," said Don Mattrick, head of Microsoft's game unit. "Consumers are loving it." The device which costs about $150 allows Xbox gaming users to play games by using only gestures and voice commands. Apart from the revenue increase, Microsoft also hopes to challenge Sony´s Move and Nintendo´s Wii gaming ! consoles. First projections for the new product predicted 3 million units sold by the end of the year, however, Don Mattrick was confident enough to raise the number to 5 million. "Presales have exceeded expectations," said Mattrick. "People are coming to us and saying this is must-have holiday item." So, the only problem that could emerge is shortages. "We're anticipating that some of our partners will be sold out at points of time this holiday, and that's something we'll do our best to work through," said Mattrick. Kinect´s main innovation as compared to Nintendo Wii and Sony Move is that you have to push no buttons nor hold anything in your hands. Three camera sensors and four microphones is what enables Kinect, thin black box that plugs into the back of the Xbox by the way, to offer user a wholy new playing experience. "We wanted to transform entertainment where technology understands you," said Alex Kipman, director of incubation for Kinect, during a Kinect demo i! n Washington. Pokiaľ ide o Apple, nedá sa povedať, že by spali na vavrínoch. Hoci sa stali najväčšou technologickou svetovou jednotkou, ich tempo je veľmi vysoké. Marketingové stratégie presne namierené na tie, ktoré cieľové skupiny. A všetko ide, všetko ide v kolobehu reklám, updateov, promoakcií, ktorých frekvencia je neskutočná. Apple je spoločnosť par excellence, ktorá vsadila na najhlbšiu podstatu nákupného správania sa – city. Nuž väčšinou dôvodom, prečo sa s produktom alebo značkou cíti! me alebo necítime spokojní nie je racionálne uvažovanie, ale práve onen emočný faktor. Ako sa to premieta do stratégie Apple? Apple sa stane vašim domácim mazlíčkom, nutnou súčasťou vášho dňa, obľúbenou stránkou, sučasťou sociálnej siete, „cool“ parťákom, skrátka všetkým len, aby sa udomácnil vo vašich najbežnejších návykoch, myšlienkách a skutkoch. A pokiaľ ide o reklamu, preháňanie je na mieste – príklad. Včera Apple na svoju stránku vyvesil celkom obyčajný inzerát – zajtra príde do obehu nová verzia hudobného prehrávaču iTunes. Keď sa nad tým zamyslíte, v podstate nejde o nejakú prevratnú správu, ale spôsob, akým bol inzerát napísaný bol ohrom! ujúci... „Zajtrajšok je ďalším ! dňo m...na ktorý nezabudnete!“. Pochopiteľne som celý inzerát odignorovala, pretože nemám vo zvyku míňať svoj čas každou zlepšeninou aj toho najmenšieho programu, ktorý Apple ponúka. Inzerát vo svojom agitačnom prejave pokračoval ďalej v zmysle, ľudia, vráťte sa sem o siedmej ráno, skontrolujte si váš nový update. A hoci som sa na stránku o siedmej ráno nedostala, Apple mi automaticky poslal správu o tom, že iTunes má novú verziu. Nuž je to možno maličkosť, ale vo svojej podstate veľmi zásadnú maličkosť – dáva najavo, kam to chce Apple posunúť. Ale toto je už stará známa psenička – všetci sa raz staneme (ne)dobrovoľnými členmi tejto veľkej korporátnej rodiny spojenej značkou a produktom..! .

China is the country of growth. It grows not only economically, but also technologically. In recent past, the government has begun to put greater emphasis on progress in the field of science and technology. Tiahne-1A, presented for the first time at a national conference on high-performance computers in China, is a fruit of that effort. Tiahne, menaing Milky way, is currently the world´s fastest supercomputer. Until recently, this post had been occupied by the Cray XT5 Jaguar developes by the US. The Tianhe supercomputer, designed by the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), is housed at National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin. Its construction is a resul! t of combined effort of 200 scientists that worked on the project for two years. Tiahne that can achieve a computing speed of 2,570 trillion calculations per second cost about $88 million. The fastest supercomputer in the world is no minkin, it has about 155 ton and stretches over the area of about 1,000 square meters. It is powered by 7,168 Nvidia tesla M2050 graphics procesor units (GPUs) and 14,336 Intel Xeon central processing units (CPUs). "The performance and efficiency of Tianhe-1A was simply not possible without GPUs," said Guangming Liu, chief of National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin. "The scientific research that is now possible with a system of this scale is almost without limits; we could not be more pleased with the results." "GPUs are redefining high performance computing," said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and CEO of Nvidia. "With the Tianhe-1A, GPUs now power two of the top three fastest computers in the world today. These GPU supercomputers are essential to! ols for scientists looking to turbocharge their rate of discov! ery." As far as the list of the world´s most powerful supercomputers is concerned, the US has seven of them, China has two and Germany one.

First news about Facebook´s intentions to develop its own email service reached the public in February. Given the phenomenal success of the social networking site and its other launches experts predict another sensation that has a great potential to become one of Gmail´s strongest rivals. Google and Facebook have been gradually changing into the rivalry mood and the ambitions to kick off the other one is more and more significant. First of all, both are very important and powerful networks that have been cooperating for some time. But until now. Today both CEOs Facebook's Zuckerberg and Google's Schmidt are going to have a speech at expected technology Web 2.0 conference. Although three days event is full of internet services provider, the focus was put on those two. The competition can turn into something really interesting – Google that owns Gmail, one of really sucessful email services is lacking any sucessful social feature – although it has ! its Buzz, the response wasn't that strong. Facebook has been seen in the bad light due total lack of privacy and inability to create its own email. But this is going to change, at least according to official news. Facebook is expected to announce the beginning of its email service. Some, perhaps too ambitious critics call it „Gmail killer“. So far, both sides have declined to comment it. The competition is significant in more directions – last week Google blocked out a feature that enabled Facebook to import data from gmail account and it announced it was going to rise salaries 10 percent up for its IT workers. According to rumors it should prevent Google employees from leaving the company for Facebook. So it seems the fight for any kind of source including employees has begun. But Facebook has lost one of its key IT figures on Friday. What seems so interesting is that the person is Paul Buchheit, one of cofounders of Google's Gmail. Donedávna priateľské ovzdušie medzi Google a Facebookom sa začalo meniť a dnes je jasné, že obe firmy sa dostávajú do vyhrotenej pozície. Akoby tu šlo o boj kto z koho. Obe spoločnosti sú veľmi vplyvné a konkurenčné – hoci doteraz ponúkali rozdielne produkty, situácia by sa mala čoskoro zmeniť. Dnes obaja výkonní riaditelia, Zuckerberg (Facebook) aj Schmidt (Google) vystúpia na technologickej konferencii Web 2.0 venovanej internetovým službám a novinkám, a hoci nie sú jediní významní rečníci, med! iálna pozornosť sa už stihla spolarizovať medzi obe spoločnosti. Dôjde dnes k zásadnému prelomu? Odhalia spoločnosti niektorú „skrytú zbraň“? Je to vysoko pravdepodobné. Google, ktorý disponuje úspešnou emailovou službou gmail, doteraz nedosiahol „zinteraktívnenie“ svojej služby. Hoci v poslednom roku pribudol istý sociálny element – Buzz, jeho odozva nebola veľká a už vôbec nie taká, aby čo i len ohrozila Facebook. Tomu však bola okrem totálneho nedostatku súkromia vyčítaná aj absencia vlastnej emailovej služby. A toto by sa dnes malo stať minulosťou – podľa očakávaní by dnes mal Facebook ohlásiť spustenie vlastného emailu. Niektorí pozorovatelia ho nazývajú „zabijakom pre gmail“, no možno s! 0; tieto prívlastky znova americky prehnané. Ovzdu&#! 353;ie r ivality je však medzi spoločnosťami citeľné vo všetkých sférach. Len minulý týždeň Google zablokoval automatický import dát z gmailu na Facebook. Nuž a minulý týždeň taktiež ohlásil zvýšenie platov svojim zamestnancom o 10 percent. Tento krok by mal zabrániť masovému prestupu ku konkurencii. Nuž konkurencia je zjavná aj pokiaľ ide o zdroje akéhokoľvek charakteru. Ale aj Facebook minulý týždeň prišiel o významnú osobu – programátora Paula Buchheita, ktorý sa v medzi rokmi 1999-2006 podieľal na vývine gmailu. Buchheit podľa oficiálnych informácií Facebook opúšťa kvôli spoločnosti Y Combinator, ktorá sa špecializuje na poskytovanie internetových služieb...

Čína je krajinou rastu. Rastie nielen čo sa týka ekonomiky ale aj technológií. V posledných rokoch sa kládla vláda väčší dôraz na rozvoj v oblasti vedy a techniky. Tianhe 1A, ktorý bol po prvý raz predstavený na konferencii vysoko výkonnostných počítačov v Číne, je výsledkom tohto snaženia. Tiahne, v preklade mliečna cesta, je najrýchlejším počítačom súčasnosti. Ešte donedávna túto pozíciu okupoval počítač Cray TX5 Jaguar zostrojený v Spojených štá! ;toch amerických. Superpočítač Tiahne zostrojený na Národnej univerzite obranných technológií sa nachádza v čínskom meste Tchian-t´in. Jeho zostavenie je výsledkom približne dvojročnej práce tímu skladajúceho sa z dvoch stoviek vedcov. Tiahne je schopný za sekundu urobiť 2 570 kalkulácií a jeho cena sa vyšplhala na 88 miliónov dolárov. Nie je to žiadny drobček, celý systém ma asi 155 ton a zaberá plochu 1 000 metrov štvorcových. Tiahne je taký výkonný vďaka kombinácii 7 168 grafických procesorových jednotiek Nvidia tesla M2050 a 14 336 centrálnych procesorových jednotiek Intel Xeon. „Tianhe by nikdy nedosiahol požadovaný výkon bez zapojenia grafických procesorových jednotiek,“ hovorí Guangming Liu, riaditeľ Národn! 33;ho centra pre superpočítače v Tchian-t´! ine, kde je počítač uložený. „Vedecký výskum možný vďaka technológii prakticky nemá hraníc, s výsledkom nemôžeme byť spokojnejší.“ „Grafický procesor dodáva vysoko výkonnostným počítačom úplne nový rozmer,“ hovorí Jen-Hsun Huang, prezident a výkonný riaditeľ spoločnosti Nvidia. „Keď vezmeme do úvahy aj Tianhe 1A, grafický procesor v súčasnosti poháňa dva z troch najvýkonnejších počítačov na svete. Táto internetová stránka, táto sociálna sieť umožňuje miliónom ľudí vzájomne zdieľať najrozličnejšie videá a vzájomne si ich komentovať a hodnotiť. Spoločnosť, ktorá sídli v San Bruno, v Kalifornii vytvorila jednu z najobľúbenejších stránok na svete. Okrem klasických televíznych videí a hudobných videoklipov, tiež obsahuje obrovské množstvá amatérskeho materiálu, akým napríklad sú rozličné video blogy či krátkometrážne amatérske videá. Na YouTube naozaj nájdete čokoľvek! Ba čo viac, všetko je vidieť – zažiť – zdieľať zadarmo! And here we go again! Computers, notebooks, tablet computers, cell phones – all that new stuff in the world of technologies. All these machines are permanently offered to us, like they were the only substantial thing in the whole world. Well, for those of you who are really interested in technology news: new BlackBerry tablet computer would cost below 500 dollars. But do not ask me, if it is good sign or not. I don’t know, and actually I don’t care. Why has to be our world spinning around so quickly? Every time I hear about something SUPER NEW, I get a headache. Every time I hear what I SHOULD HAVE (but don’t have it actually) I start to tremble R! 11; not from fear, but from nerves and disgust! This consumer society is hardly bearable, so we (with our greediness) are. “There is a lot of demand and we are seeing a lot of interest from international retailers.” said RIM co-chief executive Jim Balsillie. And even though I delighted from their success, I am less delighted with our consumerism – in lot of ways exaggerated and useless. Touchscreen tablet computer from this Canadian firm will be introduced in North America in the first quarter 2011 – but tell me, how many of them have been already introduced and how many times have we been enamored by them? The BlackBerry’s PlayBook, as it is called, has a seven-inch (17.8-centimeter) display, smaller than the 9.7 inches of Apple’s iPad. A máme to tu zas! Počítače, notebooky, tablety, mobilné telefóny – všetky tie neuveriteľné novinky zo sveta technológií sa opäť vracajú! Všetky tieto prístroje sú nám permanentne ponúkané, ako keby boli jedinou podstatnou vecou na tejto planéte. Pre tých z vás, ktorí sa o túto oblasť predsa len zaujímajú: nový tabletový počítač od BlackBerry bude stáť (len!) 500 dolárov. Nepýtajte sa ma ale, či je to dobré či zlé znamenie! Neviem a v skutočnosti mi to je celkom ! jedno! Otázka, ktorá ma väčšmi trápi je, prečo sa náš svet tak rýchlo točí? Zakaždým, keď počujem o SKVELEJ SUPER NOVINKE, začne ma trápiť migréna. Zakaždým keď počujem, čo VŠETKO BY SOM MALA MAŤ (no v skutočnosti nemám!!!) dostávam triašku – nie však zo strachu či sklamania, ale z nervov a znechutenia! Táto konzumná spoločnosť je priam neznesiteľná, rovnako ako i my (s tou našou nenásytnosťou). Dotykový table! tový ; počítač od tejto známej Kanadskej firmy bude v Severnej Amerike dostupný v prvom štvrťroku 2011 – no povedzte mi, koľko podobných prístrojov sme už videli a koľkokrát sme nad nimi s údivom žasli? Playbook (ako sa tento nový zázrak volá) od BlackBerry má sedem palcovú (17.8 cm) obrazovku, čo je o 2.7 palcov menej ako iPad od Apple. Ba čo viac, podporuje aj Adobe Flash, čo Apple nedokáže. Nuž, okrem novej vlny agitácií sa môže začať i ďalšia technologická vojna! Ani to však nebude ničím novým...

But at the same time rumors about Google entering mobile phone market began. These rumors followed in the next years until finally in 2007 Google filed several patent applications in the area of mobile telephony. In November that same year Open Handset Alliance was established and Android, the flagship software of the alliance was licensed in 2008. Based on an open source license it competes ! against mobile platforms from Apple, Microsoft, Nokia, Palm, Research In Motion, Symbian and Bada. Today Android smartphone in one of the most popular and best selling smartphones. Actually newest report showed that it sold 20,5 million units, giving the Android platform a 25.5 percent market share. It made him the second biggest smartphone platform after Nokia's Symbian. Apple’s iPhone is third with 13,5 million units and Canada's Research In Motion, maker of the Blackberry, was in fourth position with sales of 11.9 million units. Android’s team succeed to make innovation fast enough so it can put this product high on the list. Because in this market that is what you need to stay in game. Technology is going forward very fast and you need to keep a sight with it, otherwise new and better competitors will surged past you.

Two-day nanotech conference presents about 1,500 participants including chemists, physics, medical researchers and others. They are all dealing with manipulating matter on an atomic and molecular scale, as nanotechnology is defined. Dan Peer, profesor at Tel Aviv University´s Cell Research and Immunology Department is tryin! g to find a way to help people suffering of cancer and other diseases by improving toxic treatments, like for example chemotherapy in case of cancer. "Sometimes the drug is there, but it doesn't operate in a targeted manner," he said. Therefore, scientists look for a way to better direct these drugs to the troubled cells. It might be possible by attaching the drug to a vitamin that gets into the malignant cels easily. "You can potentially create new materials, new vehicles for drugs, like very small bubbles, like mini-submarines, which carry them into the body," said Peer. Other researchers are trying to reach the goal by blinding the immune system of a patient so that it does not attack drugs inserted into the body. Another sensation caused Russian scientist Andre Geim who presented a material called graphene consisting of one-atom-thick layers of carbon atoms arranged in two-dimensional hexagons that is stiffer than diamond. "You can imagine you can make a thousand device! s out of this graphene," he said to the audience at the confer! ence. It's a general fact that Internet has been the medium of today and tomorrow. Its power is increasing, just to point this out more than 63.9 percent of American citizen have been using broadband internet in 2009. But with growing amount of users, informations and data, there are increasing fears about weak security. Just take it from the principle – you open you gmail account and Google automatically saves your data and make them editable via google doc, picassa or any other product. It also makes copies for itself so even if you delete the document, it will be stored somewhere, just floating in „the air“. And you probably don't know about it. Go ahead and! check you Facebook account. They say it's the biggest social network in the world with more than 500,000 000 users, but it is virtually impossible to delete your account. It will be transferred into its „sleeping“ mode. And if you submit anything to Facebook, you are saying „yes“ to its free manipulation of your data, photos and informations. And even if you manage to rename your profile, delete your pics, Facebook is saving them. But not only saving, it is making money out of it – let's admit it – submiting anything on internet means to submit it to anyone and anyone can make profit out of it. Companies like Google, Facebook, Amazon and many others are using your personal data for their own purposes and sometimes they offer them to the third party. And you don't know it. The list of examples would be never ending. European Union wants to push new law – the right on internet access should be the basic right for any EU citizen. But! will they ensure more control checks over violation that is a! driving force of current internet situation? Will countries or even corporations themselves look critically at the situation and will they admit there must be some kind of right even for consumers?

Jeho sila rapídne rastie, len pre zaujímavosť spomeňme fakt, že v roku 2009 bolo viac ako 63 percent všetkých amerických domácností pripojených na vysokorýchlostný internet. Skrátka enormne rastie počet užívateľov, dát a priestoru, ktorý sieť poskytuje a (potrebuje). Aká je však bezpečnosť tejto siete? Nuž vezmime si to od začiatku, nalogujte sa do svojho gmail účtu a zistíte, že ! okrem neskutočného množstva priestoru a vymožeností si Google uchováva všetky vaše dokumenty aj pre seba. Hoci ich z konta vymažete, oni v tej virtuálnej zberni dokumentov, fotiek, prezentácií a mailov ostanú. A pravdepodobne o tom ani neviete. Zoberme si Facebook, tvrdí o sebe, že je najväčšou sociálnou sieťou s viac ako 500 000 000 užívateľov. Na druhej strane táto najväčšia sieť nedovoľuje tým 500 000 000 užívateľov ani vymazať vlastné konto (v prípade, že by služby Facebooku už nechceli alebo nepotrebovali). Reálne sa Facebook teda nemôže ani zmenšovať – a ako sa o Facebooku posmešne, avšak trefne vraví – nepozná súkromie. To, čo doň raz vložíte si uchováva pre seba. Nezáleží na! tom, či svoje foto stiahnete, premenujete sa, v histó! ;rii st& #225;le budú figurovať všetky vaše osobné dáta. Spomínam si na desivé prekvapenie známej, ktorá ako aupairka vycestovala do Ameriky a počas pobytu našla jednu zo svojich fotiek na plagáte cestovnej spoločnosti – odvtedy s nami, jej virtuálnymi priateľmi nezdieľa svoje foto zážitky z dovoleniek... Zdá sa to byť nefér? Určite áno, pretože o zneužití vlastných dokumentov a informácií nebudete ani vedieť. Je to však bežná praktika takmer všetkých spoločností – niektoré robia obrovský profit z toho, že údaje predávajú tretej strane – poisťovniam, bankám, marketingovým a prieskumným spoločnostiam. Opäť bez vášho vedomia... Európska únia sa v poslednom čase snaží do svojej ú! ;stavy zaviesť nové základné ľudské právo – právo na internet. Pokiaľ sa teda táto požiadavka dostáva na tak vysoké miesta, budú konečne štáty alebo aj korporácie samotné zodpovedne riešiť problém ochrany na internete?

Izrael je považovaný za jednu z vedúcich krajín čo sa týka výskumu a technológie a tohtoročná konferencia Nano Israel 2010 to len potvrdzuje. Veľké množstvo medzinárodných spoločností zaoberajúcich sa vývojom rôznych technológií tu má svoje centrá. Niet sa čo čudovať, keďže obyvatelia tu patria k tým najvzdelanejším ľuďom na svete. Na dvojdňovej nanotechnologickej konferencii sa zúčastní asi 1 500 rôznych chemikov, fyzikov, medicínskych výskumníkov a iných. V! 53;etci sa zaoberajú manipuláciou hmoty na atómovej a molekulárnej úrovni, čo je podstatou nanotechnológie. Dan Peer, napríklad, profesor na univerzite v Tel-Avive pracujúci v oddelení bunkového výskumu a imunológie, sa snaží prísť na to ako pomôcť ľuďom trpiacim rakovinou či inými chorobami a to zlepšením chemických spôsobov liečby, ako je napríklad chemoterapia v prípade rakoviny. „Sú prípady kedy poznáme liek na chorobu, no ten nefunguje cieleným spôsobom,“ povedal. Ďalší výskumníci sa snažia dopracovať k rovnakému cieľu tak, že ´oslepia´ imunitný systém, a ten potom nezaútočí na lieky v tele pacienta. O ďalšiu senzáciu sa postaral ruský výskumník pracujúci vo Veľkej Británii Andre Geim, ktorý predstavil materiál zvaný grafen pozostávajúci z vrstiev atómov uhlíka, ktorých hrúbku predstavuje len jeden atóm, a sú usporiadané do dvojdimenzionálnych šesťuholníkov. Materiál je tvrdší než diamant. „Môžete si predstaviť, čo všetko by sa dalo vytvoriť s použitím tohto materiálu,“ povedal Geim na konferencii. How are Americans using broadband internet in the U.S.? Is their number increasing? Who is the typical internet user, what is his/her nationality, education or income? Questions can be parially found in a recent research study prepared by the Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration and the Economics and Statistics Administration. Census based study with more than 54,000 target households as a sample was conducted in October 2009, the results however have been published just now. According to these data, number of American citizen using broadband internet has been increasing between 2001 and 2009. While it was just about 9.2 percent ! in 2001, last year quotes were about 63.5 percent of population. The study also pointed out several features in internet consuming. Based on results, the most common internet users are Asian Americans with about 77.3 percent, so almost every three of four Asian Americans have this connection. The second place belonged to white Americans with no Hispanic origins, they got almost 68 percent. African-American families were more likely to use broadband connection than Hispanic households, comparing 49.4 to 47.9 percent. Here however, the difference is just very small. Results also made clear selection of broadband users according to the income and education – based on these data, about 94.1 percent of households with income over $100,000 were using this service. There is a significant gap between those „wealthy“ families and households with income less than $25,000 who reached just about 35.8 percent. Graduated people are more likely to use internet than th! ose without passing secondary school or a college. The gap was! again v ery sharp – about 84.5 households with at least one graduate had broadband internet compared with less than 29 percent of households without a high school degree. The results however are raw and haven't been interpreted yet.

“This is Broadband. This is the Way” said Media One marketing campaign in 1996 trying to sell their high speed data base access. Today the percentage of households that connect to the Internet using broadband grew to 63.5 percent in 2009 from 9.2 percent in 2001. A report prepared by the Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration and the Economics and Statistics Administration based on a Census survey of about 54,000 households conducted in October 2009, brought to light some gaps in the usage of the broadband. The analysis showed that households with bigger income subscribe much more than households with income less than 25000 dollars. It showed that households with at least one college diploma subscribe 55% more than households with high school diploma. Asian-American households and non-Hispanic white households subscribed significantly more than African-American households and Hispanic households. The difference between ! rural households and urban one was less than 10 percent. Filing these gaps are priority for FCC so they can full fill their National Broad Band Plan from April 2010. That way it can make real their goal “stimulate economic growth, spur job creation, and boost our capabilities in education, healthcare, homeland security and more” as they say on their official webpage. The Census data found that 38 percent of Americans who don't have broadband at home say they don't subscribe because they don't need it, while 26 percent say it's too expensive and only 4 percent say it's not available where they live. Which way of fixing problem will they use, we are about to see soon.

Minulý piatok nedopadol pre spoločnosť Research in Motion podľa očakávania, skôr naopak – akcie spoločnosti sa na burze po udalostiach predošlých dní prepadli viac ako o tri percentá. Príčinou v prvom pláne sa ukázali byť vyhlásenia dvoch amerických finančných gigantov – Bank of America a Citigroup. Obe spoločnosti totiž plánujú presedlať z „chytrého“ telefónu BlackBerry, ktorý je najpopulárnejším produktom ontárijskej spoločnosti. BlackBerry je známou konkurenciou iPhone alebo ! chytrým telefónom využívajúcim googlovský Android, je všeobecne populárny nielen medzi bežnými užívateľmi, ale osvedčil sa ako vhodný korporátny telefón. Mnoho spoločností ho dlhodobo zaviedlo medzi svojimi zamestnancami, ktorí medzi iným z neho mohli pohodlne dosahovať na služobné maily, databázy s relatívne silným zabezpečením. Last Friday didn't work out for Research in Motion as it was expected, on the contrary, according to some observers, it turned out to be rather bleak. Marc Andreessen is best known for his involvement in the development of the first widely used web browser Mosaic and also as a co-founder of Netscape Communications. The man who “helped bring the World Wide Web to the masse” is now, 17 years later, introducing a new browser called RockMelt, which is based on the latest trends in Internet technologies, particularly the phenomenon of social networking. "We're reinventing the browser for how people use the Web today," said Eric Vishria, RockMelt's co-founder and CEO. "The market is ripe for new ideas and better products," said Andreessen. "What's exciting is how dynamic the market has become. Nearly 500 million pe! ople have changed browsers in the last three years. Back when I was working on the browser, there weren't that many people on the Internet." The new browser incorporates social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter so you can take your friends along as your surf the net. The browser, which will be available Monday, also keeps an eye on the user´s favorite websites notifying when there is a new content added. RockMelt was developed by the former colleagues of Andreessen Tim Howes and Eric Vishria. However, Andreessen´s support and advice has been a very important factor in the development process. In addition, Andreessen´s firm contributed generously as far as financing is concerned. "When you are trying to reinvent the Web browser, who would you rather run your ideas by besides Marc?" said Howes. So far, no browser has been as successful as Microsoft´s Internet Explorer. But for other it will be the future of medicine allowing the doctors observing procedures and patients miles and miles away from them. Peyghambarian's technology uses holograms; two-dimensional images that reconstruct the light that would have bounced off a physical object, making it look 3-D. Was James Cameron’s Avatar the culmination of the 3D movie, and the people need to move up to the next level combining it with holograms? Well... probably. So a s! cene from some science fiction movie actually is coming into your home. You will be able to watch a person or an object from back and front just like he stands next to you. Several groups of scientists have already tried to do the same thing and most of them have done something but in very small displays. Challenge is to put 30 pictures a second on 6 to 8 feet big display, so it can simulate the actual human size. I know that I am very anxious and can’t wait to see and experience this. Technology really will make our lives easier and much more fun, but I really hope that it won’t make us more alone and stuck at home having fun with the TV or the computer or who knows with what, instead of going out and have coffee with a friend.

Current affair between the biggest database software seller in the world, Oracle and its rival SAP is example par excellence how harsh the market relationship can be. Californian based company that has been leader in that field for several years complained about stealing data from their computers and violating their author's rights. SAP was supposed to inflict protected databases and download crucial information, including support services and many others. This is at least what does the company say about the espionage at the federal jury. The case should be resolved within six weeks and both CEO's are expected to testify in upcoming days. Oracle has demanded $2 billion as ! compensation for scattering its business. Oracle technicians said that there were enormous amount of downloads from irrelevant user accounts registered with false telephone numbers (f.i. 777-7777) or client names – Tom Now. SAP was able to wall off Oracle's systems via TomorrowNow, a SAP subsidiary. Downloads went through TomorrowNow servers. The case seems to be even more serious, since Germany based SAP has admitted that it really violated Oracle's systems, but according to the company, Oracle was making too much noise about it – or the accusations were exagerrated. SAP has offered only tens of millions of dollars instead of $2 billion compensation Oracle wanted. According to company the problem started when it bought PeopleSoft in 2005 and at the same time SAP got TomorrowNow in acquisition. TomorrowNow was supporting PeopleSoft software and it was just a matter of time when SAP would create software similar to PeopleSoft and offer it as its own. Oracle claim! s that SAP eventuelly copied their original files rebranded th! em and s old them as their own.

The biggest U.S broadcasters like ABC, NBC, CBS have denied the access of their information on the new television, that Google Inc. launched last month. First, they wanted to use the Google Inc. and to make some money out of it. They ddn't allow the biggest internet browser to give the audiance their video-clips through Google internet site, without payment. As we already have spoken, the Google television was thought to function as a software platform that allowed users to go on every site they want through ther TV devices. This will certainly not bring a good maneer for the people that have already subscripted for the Google Tv's program. But, Google's management has ano! ther idea how to gain money and to keep people available. It has YouTube that is used more and more as a advertising space on the net. They say that the content providers are the ones that should bring decision about how much would consumers have to pay for the program they use. Google TV moves toward the world tendences for improving the cable and broadcast TV business model with its Web access. But Google has another answer on the video users. Like, for 10 dollars everyone that wants to watch video episodes from great broadcasting corporations. Google's revenue only from Web search ads are around 24 billion dollars. The company nevertheless is going to find new ways to stay at the top of the business and I certainly believe that all the gaps between the big televsion broadcasters and the web browser. For a person, who knows computers, especially technologies behind them and work with them every day, is the fact of their next development more than obvious. Tech evolution is quicker than light and there are thousands of people specializing in it. Chipmaker Intel as one of these specialists, is advising a group of more than 70 companies that encourage industry standards for “cloud computing”. Among these companies there is for instance Deutsche Bank, Lockheed Martin or BMW. The term “cloud” is actually used as a metaphor for the Internet and the point of “cloud computing” is that companies like these will share their data through softwar! e. That means that instead of computer storage space, there will be remote centers full of data, which will be accessed by the companies’ employees and customers over networks like the Internet. How does it work? In general, cloud computing customers do not own the physical infrastructure; they just rent its usage from a third-party provider. That means they consume resources as a service and pay only for resources that they use. About the fact it is very lucrative sphere testifies millions of dollars invested into it. Companies involved in the working group invest over 50 billion US dollars a year (!!!) in IT and plan to lay out their requirements for future cloud computing data centers, informed Reuters. “When you look at the changes happening in the world, the R&D that’s going on, cloud is probably one of the areas that is changing faster than any other area of our industry.” told Curt Aubley, a technology vice president at defense contractor Lock! heed Martin.

Security is one of the most, if not the most important thing in every society. Especially when you are a giant country that fights all the time to be number one in the world and does that in any possible way. Investments in army technology are never enough. Everybody wants to have the fast information for example, on what is happening at the battle fields where your soldiers are. Yes, you guessed at once. I am talking about the army of the United Stated of America. Two years from now, the Army is going to be able to stream surveillance video images from planes that have not a one person to soldiers' mobile phones. The Joint Tactical Radio System stays the program that th! e U.S. Army is leaning on in the means of security. I am wondering whether this is not going to be misused by soldiers, because they will have the freedom to watch other videos as well. Off course, a soldier must have smartphone, for which, few companies have already started to make the 4G network systems that are essential for the video-streaming to be possible. One of the advances for this new system is that usually, any new devise, program or system requires bigger training process, and with this system soldiers wouldn't have to have who knows how high IQ to figure it out, because smartphones are already been in great use among them. That will reduce for certain the expenses, explained Tim Owings, deputy program manager for Army unmanned aerial systems. This as well will be in rhythm with the complaints that Pentagon spends a lot of money and will approve the motto "do more without more".

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced some time ago that the company´s Chief Software Architect Ray Ozzie is to leave the computer giant after transition period. Ozzie who is considered a great visionary is best known for his role in creating Lotus Notes, that is, before joining Microsoft. In 2005, Microsoft acquired his company Groove Networks, in 2008, Ozzie was promoted to Chief Software Architect as a replacement for Bill Gates. In the same year he became to work for Microsoft Ozzie wrote famous seven page internal memo entitled The Internet Services Disruption regarding Internet-based cloud computing, where software and information are not stored on machines, but! provided on demand. Upon his departure Ozzie stressed the importance of simplicity for the future computer industry. In other words, Ozzie most likely does not approve that Microsoft still prefers the traditional Windows/Office powerhouse rather than the cloud Azure architecture. Many expected that sooner or later Ozzie would break from Microsoft as there was no real connection between him and the teams he was supposed to lead. You’ve got to wonder how Ray Ozzie, the chief strategist brought in to forge Microsoft’s cloud thinking, can prosper in this environment where a half dozen company presidents report into the CEO, Steve Ballmer, but not to him,“ as Barbara Darrow, senior news editor at SearchITChannel.com pointed out months ago. Steve Jobs continues to wage his quiet war against Abdobe Systems Inc´s Flash player as Apple Inc announced Friday it will no longer pre-install the multimedia platform on Mac computers. It is not the case of iPhone and iPad, from which Flash was banned. Users will still be able to download and install Flash player themselves. It was quite a rare situation when Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs issued an open letter in April 2010 detailing the reasons why the company banned the Flash player onto the iPhone. "Flash was created during the PC era--for PCs and mice," Jobs said in the letter. "New open standards created in the mo! bile era, such as HTML5, will win on mobile devices (and PCs too). Perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind." He also criticized Flash for reducing battery power and posing security risks. "Flash is the No. 1 reason Macs crash," Jobs said. Apple annouced the news concerning the Flash player upon launching an updated version of its MacBook Air laptop that is being shipped without the Flash software as will be all Mac computers in the future. "We're happy to continue to support Flash on the Mac and the best way for users to always have the most up to date and secure version is to download it directly from Adobe," said Apple spokesman Bill Evans mainly due to the fact that Flash is update very often and Apple simply wants the customers to have the latest version. Abdobe responded only through a short-spoken statement: "As always, Adobe recommends that users download the most up to ! date version of Adobe Flash Player from Adobe.com."

One of few things a visitor realizes in China is an impossible amount of gods lying everywhere. I say literally everywhere, since the markets are held on the streets. These markets offer impossible amount of all world known brands and all famous products – and all of this for incredibly low prices. So one soon realizes that all those iPods and Versace are fakes and the most immediate thought is that this kind of „black market“ is running the country, Problems with authenticity and author's rights are very common in the Eastern world, twice as more in China that has become the biggest global manufacture. Taking it from the scratch, everything is faked and h! as a duplicate that is of course cheaper. Rights are broken with every kind of product – electronics, clothes even movies. So far this has caused serious problems in Europe, because this faked cheap products were attractive enough for huge and poor massess of people. And it is a fact that cheap products won the short term battle over traditional products or products of better quality. This business of cheap labour and violated rights is ruling the world and therefore the news that Chinese government wants to crack down factories and companies producing fake goods created a bitter smile upon my face. Really it was more of a joke than a serious thing, although Chinese platform said it wanted to „improve“ its image. However, this true sincere effort is not a bad idea, twice more if you walk down Beijing streets, business centers and find boards with titles: If you steal, then you dignity is decreasing...

Úvodná cena 11,6 palcového modelu, ktorý váži neuveriteľný 1 kilogram a na šírku meria iba 0,68 palcov, začína na 999 amerických dolárov. Analytik Shaw Wu povedal, že spoločnosť šikovne skombinovala silné stránky iPhonu a iPadu, čím sa jej podarilo inovovať spôsob, ktorým vyrábajú notebooky. Shaw Wu tvrdí, že Apple objavil veľmi šikovný a zmysluplný spôsob.

Niekto by sa so mnou možno rád hádal o tom, že ide o ďalší krok k technickej dokonalosti, no ja nie som o tom celkom presvedčená. Kedy teda príde ten deň, keď si povieme – OK, už je toho dosť, stačí? Stojí to vôbec za to – čakať a najmä za to platiť (nemalé peniaze)? Je to snaha byť progresívny, alebo je to len chamtivosť? V prípade spoločnosti Apple je ťažké odpovedať na túto otázku jednoznačne – pravda je zrejme kdesi uprostred. Podľa najnovších informácií v! ypustených z dielne Apple, by sa mali iPhone a iPad, tak populárne v tomto období, stať vzorom pre ďalšiu generáciu laptopov a stolných počítačov. Okrem updatovanej verzie operačného systému pre Mac počítače, nazvanej Mac OS X Lion, boli na stredajšej konferencii predstavené aj dve nové verzie MacBook Air laptopov. Pre zdokonalenie Mac OS X Lion boli použité funkcie operačného systému používaného v mobilných zariadeniach. Táto novšia verzia by mala prísť na trh v lete budúceho roku, no ešte pred tým, než sa dostane do obchodov bude samozrejme testovaná. Rovnako tak aj hrúbka 0.68 palcov (zadnej časti) a 0.11 palcov (prednej časti laptopu) je viac než lákavá. Balíček prekvapení uzatvára ich váha: ťažší laptop váži 2.9 libry, ten ľahší len 2.3!

Someone would argue with me, this is another step to technical perfection, but I am not that sure of it. When will the day of our complete satisfaction come then? Is it worthy to wait and pay for it? Apple Inc does its best, there is no doubt, but what is it for? Is that attempt to be progressive or is it just a simple greed? In Apple’s case it is hard to say unambiguously – it is probably going hand in hand. According to latest information from Apple’s “workshop”, iPhones and iPads, which are so popular these days, should become models for Apple’s laptops and desktops. Except an updated Mac operating system, called Mac OS X Lion, also tw! o new versions of MacBook Air ultralight laptops have been introduced on Wednesday’s conference. For Lion, company borrowed highlighted features from the iOS that runs on its mobile gadgets. This newer version is expected to arrive next summer, but before it will be sold in the store, Apple plans to vet it. Apple’s plan to “hook up MacBook and an iPad” should be submitted for review in November. New MacBook Air laptops should have few things in common with iPads. But one feature from all will I guess, cheer Apple’s fans the most: speeding up the time of booting laptops up and waking them from a sleep state. Also its thickness of 0.68 inches at the back and 0.11 inches at the front edge is more than interesting. The packet of pleasant surprises is closed by the laptops’ weight: the larger one clocks in at 2.9 pounds, the smaller one only at 2.3 pounds!

Jednou z vecí, ktoré si návštevník pri pobyte v Číne okamžite všimne je enormné množstvo tovaru. Ten sa povaľuje doslova všade, pretože povestné čínske trhy sa nachádzajú všade – na uliciach, na rumoviskách, na ruinách po bývalých častiach. Tieto trhy sú tiež typické obrovským množstvom značkového tovaru, a naozaj, nájdete tu neskutočné množstvo iPodov, Versace a Gucci tričiek a kabeliek. A to všetko za neuveriteľne nízku cenu. Návštevník si okamžite ! uvedomí tú farbistú skrumáž falšovaných výrobkov a toho, ako tento „čierny trh“ doslova tiahne krajinu. Nehovoríme len o exporte falzifikátov na západ, ale o tom, čo nakupujú priemerní Číňania. Problémy s autorskými právami sú celkovo problémami východného kontinentu. To, že zákony na autenticitu nedohliadajú využíva naozaj veľké množstvo firiem – o to viac to platí, pokiaľ hovoríme o Číne, ktorá sa stala svetovou výrobnou halou. Lacné, čínske výrobky spôsobili v Európe takmer vyhladenie pôvodnej výroby, drastické zníženie zamestnanosti a ekonomicky vážne ohrozili a ohrozujú nezávislosť jednotlivých krajín. Prečo? Nuž lacné padelky dokázali upúta&! #357; nižšiu vrstvu, a teda vrstvu, ktorá sa v ! posledn& #253;ch rokoch neúmerne zväčšuje na úrok strednej triedy. Vzniká silná skupina ľudí, ktorí žiju tesne nad hranicou chudoby, ale sú schopní kupovať lacné výrobky. A tie kupujú. Čínske. Nuž to, že teraz čínska vláda vyhlásila boj proti „falšovateľom“ výrobných tajomstiev, značiek, imidžu a know how mi síce príde pozitívne, ale nerealizovateľné. Čína by si pod sebou prerezala konár, obrala sa o podstatný zdroj financií a vydala sa na milosť nemilosť zahraničným „investorom“, ktorí si v krajine nechávajú vyrobiť vlastné výrobky. Táto správa pôsobí o to komickejšie, že pokiaľ prechádzate ulicami, obchodmi a verejnými budovami Pekingu, natrafíte na množ! ;stvo nápisov typu „Kradnutie vážne poškodzuje vašu česť!“

But PDF is one of the most utilized document type not only among casual users, but also among business people. Acrobat X also enables quick PDF creating, sharing and storing via online service Acrobat.com. This is called SendNow and it works with small, but also larger files. On Tuesday Microsoft sent its Office business suite into the Internet “cloud.” The company has adapted to a new shift that is different from the packaged software on which Microsoft's fortunes were built. Microsoft Office 365 now can be rented the same way as another products as SharePoint, Exchange and Lync programs. It means that customers may rent it as a online service, which can spare companies the expense. Companies further do not have to bother with installing and maintaining the software on their computers. President of Office division Kurt DelBene said that the company had decided for this step because they had believed it would improved the way people ! work. Thanks to this new method people and companies can stay focused on their business and Microsoft with its experts take care of the technology. Microsoft's plan is to launch a website Office365.com where small or big companies can sigh up and take part in a beta program. According to executives, public version of the service will be available worldwide next year. Just for illustration, Office 365 for small businesses can be set up in 15 minutes and it would cost the company only six dollars per month per user. The price for bigger businesses will be a bit different and it will rage from two to 27 dollars for monthly per-user subscription. Microsoft's senior vice president Chris Capossela said that this new step proved a great growth of opportunity. Until now Microsoft has only competed in the software space but now they have much more possibilities.

It is nothing uncommon that people working for some company are also fighting for it even beyond the firm’s borders. Bigger firm it is, bigger defense it has. The bright example is Apple Inc. People from the iWorld would never admit that devices such as iPhone, iPod or iPad are less than perfect – till the new ones iProducts are going on the market. But fighting for “our people” doesn’t stop here of course. Statements about other – not that good – products are even more frequent and most of them are usually sarcastic and ironic. Just like the one from Steve Jobs about the seven-inch screens on new Blackberries. Jim Balsillie from Ca! nada’s Research In Motion (RIM) said that many customers seem to be tired of being told what to think by Apple. This statement was straight reaction to Apple’s Steve Jobs’ statement in which he claimed the iPhone is outselling the Blackberry. More than that, he said that seven-inch tablet computers have no future, as they are “too big to compete with a smartphone and too small to compete with an iPad.” Balsillie fend Apple off easily when he said that for those who live outside of Apple’s distortion field, the seven-inch tablets would actually be a big portion of the market. And according to Job’s words, I would say, he realizes it as well. While Apple boasts about its 14.1 million sold iPhones during the quarter, RIM does leave behind neither. Whatever these numbers are, the firms satirizing each other should realize they would not be here without us – common (and silly) people willing to buy these devices…

Usually I am not used to reading or seeing how two gentlemen, leaders in the same field start a verbal fight over the media. The provoker this time was the Chief Executive Officer of Apple Inc. who addressed some not personal insults towards his rival in the Research in Motion – Mr. Jim Balsillie, but remarks on one of their product. Steve Jobs of Apple three days ago said that RIM’s new tablet called PlayBook is already “dead in arrival”. Jobs compared its rivals gadget with theirs iPad. PlayBook is seven-inch screen tablet, and iPad’s three inches more. Apple’s leader didn’t forget to mention that theirs iPhone is far better than ! RIM’s BlackBerry. I understand when someone can’t control himself of saying only good words, but I still think that it is better when someone else says that for you instead of you in person. I am surprised how come such an experienced CEO as Jobs, fell so down to provoke like that. But Jobs didn’t left without an answer. RIM’s CEO Jim Balsillie replied to him that he was only barbing and that that was only an issue of the distorted field for the company. "For those of us who live outside of Apple's distortion field, we know that seven-inch tablets will actually be a big portion of the market" – Balsillie said. BlackBerry and iPhone are competeng among themselves in the last year. According to some analyses, they are pretty close with the selling effect. The concurrence in this market is big, as we know how many companies join the smartphone market. As far as the tablets market, iPad is still at the first place.

The Samsung Group, based in Seoul, South Korea is the world´s largest conglomerate as far as revenue is concerned. In 1938, a small trading company called Samsung Sanhgoe was founded with only forty employees. The key period for the company was the regime of President Park Chung-hee during the 1960s and 70s as he focused on industrialization and development of domestic companies. Samsung was one of them. Park protected Samsung from foreign competition as he put a halt to sale of consumer electronics manufactured by several foreign companies. Undoubtedly, he helped to get the company where it is now. Currently, Samsung accounts for more than 20 percent of South Korea&#! 180;s exports and dominates almost every sphere of public life. Now, Samsung announced its plans for joint TV and phone platform in an attempt to attract more developers. "We have a plan to have a single platform for Samsung TV and phones," Kyungsik Kevin Lee, vice president at Samsung's Visual Display Division said in an interview. "There is a small number of companies positioned to do this, of course, and all have holes in their stories, whether geographically, in product terms, or in terms of engaging developer communities," said analyst John Jackson from research firm CCS Insight. "The strategic premise is that by doing this you can position yourself to participate in the revenue streams generated by the services that run on your platform," he said. The new software platform that is currently in development will fit both the company televisions as well as cellphones. So far, no date has been given as fara s its completion is concerned. The first fruit of the Hewlett-Packard acquisition of Palm is being reviled. The tech company unveiled its new Palm Pre 2 smartphone and also new webOS 2.0. For HP it is the most significant update to the mobile operating system ever since it was launched in 2009. On Friday the Palm Pre 2 will arrive in France and in few months it will be available also in the United Stated and also in Canada, but only through Verizon Wireless. But the truth is that the market has changed a lot since Palm was first launched with its innovation. Now there are many other favorite items such as iPhone 4, then there is also a new Research In Motion operating system and many new Android-powered ! devices and also Windows Phone 7. These all are big rivals of new released Palm Pre 2. Despite big concurrency, HP is still optimistic about its new product. Thanks to webOS 2.0 Palm has expanded features and many innovations. The Palm Pre 2 also has a five-megapixec camera, a glass screen, a touchscreen and also a slide-out keyboard. But only time will show weather it will succeed in a crowded market. Advantage of webOS 2.0 is a true multitasking, which means that users can pause a game, then do whatever they need and after that they can still switch back to the game without closing anything. WebOS 2.0 also has a service called Stacks that can group together open apps. It also keeps related items together, which makes managing multiple tasks much easier.

Microsoft plánuje spustiť web stránku Office365.com, kde sa môžu malé aj veľké firmy prihlásiť a zapojiť sa do skúšobného beta programu. Podľa riaditeľov bude verzia pre verejnosť dostupná a&#! 382; budúci rok. Len pre ilustráciu, malá firma! si m 44;že Office 365 zaviesť za 15 minút a bude ju to stáť iba šesť dolárov mesačne na užívateľa. Cena pre väčšie firmy je o niečo iná a pohybuje sa v relácii od dvoch do 27 dolárov za mesiac na užívateľa. Senior vice prezident Microsoftu Chris Capossela povedal, že tento nový krok znamená pre ich spoločnosť obrovský nárast možností. Doteraz Microsoft súperil iba na softwarovom poli avšak teraz sa jeho možnosti výrazne rozrástli.

Nie je nič nezvyčajné, keď ľudia pracujúci pre určitú spoločnosť za ňu bojujú aj mimo pracovného času a ďaleko za fyzickými hranicami kancelárie. Čím je firma väčšia, tým je aj jej obrana silnejšia. Svetlým príkladom toho je spoločnosť Apple. Ľudia z iSveta by len sťažka priznali, že je niečo lepšie ako iPhone, iPod či iPad – jedine ak by to bol nový iProdukt. Tu však boj nekončí. Vyjadrenia o ostatných – nie tak kvalitných – produktoch predstavujú &! #271;alší level medzikorporátneho boja. Väčšina z týchto vyjadrení je samozrejme sarkastických a ironických. Presne ako ten od Stevea Jobsa, ktorý sa najnovšie vyjadril k 7-palcovým obrazovkám nových telefónov Blackberry. Jim Balsillie z Kanadského RIM (Research In Motion) povedal, že veľa zákazníkov je už unavených z toho, ako im Apple neustále hovorí, čo si majú myslieť. Toto jeho vyjadrenie bolo priamou reakciou na slová Stevea Jobsa z Apple, ktorý povedal, že predaj iPhone prevýšil Blackberry. Ešte viac však ľudí z Blackberry pobúrilo jeho vyjadrenie, že 7-palcové tabletové počítače nemajú žiadnu budúcnosť, nakoľko sú „príliš veľké, aby konkurovali smartphone-om a príliš malé, aby kon! kurovali iPadu.“ Balsillie odrazil útok spoloč! nosti Ap ple s ľahkosťou. Podľa neho bude pre ľudí žijúcich mimo skresleného pola spoločnosti Apple 18-centimetrová obrazovka mobilného telefónu v skutočnosti predstavovať značný kus trhového koláča. Podľa vyjadrení Stevea Jobsa by som povedala, že si je toho sám vedomý. Kým Apple sa chvastá so 14 miliónmi iPhone telefónov predaných za jeden štvrťrok, RIM za nimi nijako nezaostáva. Nech už sú však tieto čísla akékoľvek, spoločnosti ako tieto by si mali uvedomiť, že bez nás – obyčajných (a hlúpych) ľudí, kupujúcich ich hračky by neboli ani zďaleka tam, kde sú dnes...

Provokatorot ovoj pat beše izvršniot šef na “Epl” koj ne nasoči lični navredi sprema negoviot rival od “Risrč in Moušn”, g-dinot Dzim Balsilli, no dade zabeleški na niven proizvod. Stiv Dzobs od “Epl”, pred tri dena reče deka novata t.n pločka narečena Plejbuk, ušte neizlezena, e osudena na poraz. Dzobs ja sporedi napravata na nviniot rival so svojot “Ajpad”. “Plejbuk” e seduminčna pločka, dodek! a “Ajpad” ima tri inči povekje. Liderot na “Epl” ne zaboraci da spomene deka nivniot “Ajfoun” e daleku podobar od “Blekberi”-to na RIM. Jas razbiram koga nekoj ne može da se kontrolira samiot sebe si i da si prepiše dobri zborovi, no sepak smetam deka podobro e koga nekoj drug veli nešto za vas, namesto vie lično. Samsung Group, so základňou v Soule v Južnej Kórei je najväčším konglomerátom na svete čo sa výnosov týka. Jeho počiatky siahajú až do roku 1938, kedy bola založená malá obchodná spoločnosť s názvom Samsung Sanhgoe zamestnávajúca len štyridsať ľudí. Kľúčovým obdobím bol pre spoločnosť vláda prezidenta Park Chung-hee v 60. a 70. rokoch, ktorý sa zameriaval hlavne na industrializáciu a rozvoj tých najperspektívnejších domácich firiem. Jednou z nich bola i firma Sa! msung. Prezident Park poskytol spoločnosti Samsung ochranu pred zahraničnou konkurenciou tým, že zakázal predaj spotrebnej elektroniky vyrábanej zahraničnými firmami. Bezpochyby napomohol tomu, že Samsung je v súčasnosti tam kde je. Samsung je momentálne zodpovedný za viac než 20 percent tovaru vyvážaného z Južnej Kórei a má veľký vplyv takmer vo všetkých sférach verejného života. Len prednedávnom spoločnosť ohlásila plány na vytvorenie jednotnej platformy pre televíziu i mobilné telefóny. Túto správu novinárom komunikoval viceprezident divízie Visual Display (zobrazenie) Kyungsik Kevin Lee. „Na trhu je momentálne len málo spoločností, ktoré sa môžu na takýto krok podujať, a samozrejme každá z nich má vo svojich pl! 25;noch určité nedostatky, či v oblasti produkt! ov alebo zapájaní developérskych tímov,“ hovorí analytik zo spoločnosti CCS Insight John Jackson. „Strategickým predpokladom tohto kroku je, že sa dostanete do pozície, kedy sa budete môcť zúčastňovať na zisku zo služieb prevádzkovaných na vašej platforme,“ dodáva. Zatiaľ Samsung nestanovil žiadne konkrétne dátumy týkajúce sa ukončenia či spustenia projektu. Nová platforma bezpochyby poskytne užívateľom more možností. V konečnom dôsledku by mohla mať za následok i zníženie cien za Smart TV,keďže zisky by plynuli práve z tejto integrovanej platformy.

The company´s advertising business led to 25 percent growth in net revenue in the third quarter. "This is the best performance they've had in th! ree years. We're back to the old Google we know and love," said RBC Capital Markets analyst Ross Sandler. "Clearly search is holding up better than anyone expected," he added. To be exact, Google reported revenues of $7.29 billion in the quarter ended September 30, 2010. "Google had an excellent quarter," said Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google. "Our core business grew very well, and our newer businesses -- particularly display and mobile -- continued to show significant momentum. Going forward, we remain committed to aggressive investment in both our people and our products as we pursue an innovation agenda." The financial reports results the company´s shares jump 9 percent. Lately, Google has been acquiring new companies as crazy, mostly in an attempt to make a breakthrough into social gaming and networking. It bought more than 20 companies. Also, more than 1,500 new employees were hired and so the operating expenses rose to $2.19 billion, as compared to $1.64 last year. ! "Looks like business is solid across the board. Trying to imagine 20 million of electronic devices makes me feel dizzy. Trying to imagine them 55 million or 208 million seems impossible. But that is the recent projection of annual sales of tablet devices. According to the research company, Gartner these will be quotes for Appla's iPad this year (selling more than 20 million), the next year (more than 55 million) and the year 2014 (with the amount of 208 million). It's obvious that this makes a small technology revolution – as once said the technology embodied by small devices was penetrating man's life in every aspect. From solid PC laid on the table we moved to notebook that could be transferred anywhere. At the s! ame time perhaps a myriad of small devices appeared on the market, but their functions were mostly separated and not compactibile. Apple took the advantage and introduced all-in-one device with good design and great campaign. iPad now „swallows“ all its small, unknown rivals. Tablets will probably affect the most small notebooks that possess the same applications and features as screen touch devices, but don't have the spirit and design as the newcomer. And that means tablet devices may be the next stop in technology evolution. Major technology companies like HTC, Dell, Toshiba and Hewlett Packard have already entered the game with tablet devices and have been expected to introduce their counter iPads. Tablets however make kind of consumer's madness today and are expected to account for 61 percent of North American sales this year, will probably lower down the sales volume. According to Gartner tablet's share will drop down to 43 percent of the same pie in 2014! .

If you are not on Facebook, you practically don´t exist, that is the phrase that gives an evidence of how important the phenomenon of Facebook has become in people´s lives. The site, undoubtebly, was a revolution in how to stay in with your family, friends, and so on. However, recently, the social network site has been experiencing a massive exodus of users due to their privacy concerns. "It doesn't feel like Facebook is on the side of its users," said Peter Rojas, a well-known! blogger who created Web sites like Gizmodo and gdgt.com. "They're playing fast and loose with privacy settings." And he was not alone to quit. More and more people decides to delete their Facebook account. Since the Facebook went public in 2005, now more and more personal information is available for the whole world to see. In addition, the data on the site is being shared with partner companies like Microsoft, Pandora and others. The Facebook still claims the user privacy is the priority. It was repeated once again by the company´s director of market development at the GITEX information and communication technology exhibition in Dubai. Medzinárodná korporácia zaoberajúca sa internetovým vyhľadávaním, reklamnými technológiami a mnohým iným sa stalo celosvetovým pojmom. Pre milióny ľudí Google predstavuje akúsi bránu ku všetkému obsahu uloženému na internete. Nedávna história spoločnosti poukazuje na ust&! #225;lený rast a finančná správa týkajúca sa tretieho štvťroku je to toho dôkazom. Najmä vďaka obchodu s reklamou spoločnosť zaznamenala takmer 25 percentný nárast čistého výnosu. Aby sme boli presní, za posledný štvrťrok ide o čiastku 7,29 miliárd dolárov. „Je to ich najlepší výsledok za posledné tri roky. Google v ostatnom čase odkúpil viac než 20 spoločností. Takisto bolo prijatých viac než 1 500 nových zamestnancov čo malo za následok zvýšenie prevádzkových nákladov na 2,19 miliardy dolárov, minul&! #253; rok to bolo 1,64 miliárd dolárov. „Podľa čísel tkajúcich sa výnosov na akciu sa zdá, že minimálny zisk je oveľa vyšší než analytici z Wall Street očakávali,“ hovorí analytik spoločnosti UBS Brian Pitz.
