Apple reached the1 million mark sooner than expected
by Corina Ciubotaru

Apple has sold 1 million iPhones. And in the world of technology, that is a very big deal for a company that has just begun producing phones. They said the objective will be achieved by the end of September and it seems they did it faster, pointing out that it took two years for the iPod to reach this number of units sold. It still isn't clear though how the company from Cupertino came to this number; the figures released at the end of July and the ones from now don't really add up, but it seems they included the units sent to AT&T stores in the 1 million mark. After all, it's important to know what to say in a statement to keep the company image nice and spotless. Apple always knew how to do just that, create an image and stick to it; their gadgets look flawless and are designed to please the user with the highest attention to detail. They released the iPod Touch recently too at $399, which is basically an iPhone without the phone, and took the opportunity to slash the iPhone's price by $200, to get it also at $399. This of course led to a series of protests from previous iPhone owners but the move shouldn't be a surprise with the winter holidays coming. The iPhone is expected in Europe too soon and Apple is on its way to achieving the long-term goal of selling 10 million of them by the end of 2008.
