Virgin Mobile introduces unlimited calling plan

Virgin Mobile USA is introducing an unlimited calling plan. Prepared plan will be available July 1.
Continuing in price-cutting frenzy Virgin Mobile offers unlimited calling for only $79 per month.
Formerly, carrier was charging $99.99 for unlimited calling at nights and during weekends. Verizon Wireless introduced its own unlimited plan with nationwide calls for $99.99 per month. This plan was very quickly matched by others carriers.
Sprint Nextel Corp. charges $89.99 for month for unlimited calling with free messaging. Virgin Mobile responded by unlimited messaging for $10 extra per month.
Another carrier, Page Plus Cellular, charges $2.49 per day for unlimited calling on Verizon Wireless's network, but it does not include roaming. Regional operators MetroPCS Communications Inc. and Leap Wireless International Inc. have unlimited plans for only $35 per month. However they charge extra for roaming it is convenient offer for people who does not use roaming too much.
At Virgine Mobile USA the average revenue per user was only $19.93 in the first quarter which makes less than half of the average charge in larger carriers. Therefore Virgin Mobile hopes their new plan will be successful as comparable plans of others companies. Evidently still more people upgrade to the unlimited plans.
At the end of March Virgin Mobile had already 5.1 million users, what made the company one of the biggest U.S. operators. However, Virgin expects decrease of the number of customers in the first quarter. There are talks between Virgin Mobile and South Korea's SK Telecom Co., another struggling operator. It could mean a combination of the two companies.
