IP mapping.
by Barbie Kunkelova
"The IP address that you are currently using: 55.684.93.131 has exceeded its reasonable usage limit and has been temporarily blocked from accessing thisâ¦" Familiar? Just like every human being on the world is unique, so is each electronic device. But due to some numbers, not personal qualities. Exclusively the ones who use the Internet & and possess an Internet Protocol address, also known as IP, the basic protocol for sending data over the Internet. Each one consists of a set of numbers that provide the needed information when some IP device is trying to locate another one in order to interact with it. There are two types of IP; it depends on the way you connect to the Internet, which kind you are using. Do you use the same one each time you connect? That's the Static kind. If you go online through dialup or through shared Internet cable, you have a Dynamic IP address. It is more convenient to "be" Static because the numbers do not change as often and therefore it is easier to locate that particular device. It is also possible to change the IP address you're currently using, but to do so is irresponsible because the receiver can not contact you back. This action is called spoofing. It is not only the personal computers that have an IP address; it is also the phones, printers, faxes or routers. Recently, there has been a research in California on all IP addresses available. Any device that responded to their query was included into this map. Thanks to this research the scientists can see how people are treating the Internet and make further, upgraded decisions. And hence improve the Internet.
