Chris Cantell Discusses Technologies: Apple gets a Chinese deal
by Claudia Sonea
Dell is not the only one sticking his fingers in the Asian market, others have seen its potential too. China as the country with the largest population in the world and in continuous development seems to offer a rescue net to US companies who are facing a hard time due to the US economy on the verge of recession. After the world's No. 2 personal computer maker announced to invest more in the Chinese market, Hutchison Telecommunications also made public the signing of a deal with Apple Inc. According to the deal Hong Kong residents will finally have the opportunity of buying an authentic iPhone and give up on all those got from unofficial sources. The popular device offering Internet access and play music will be available on Macau's market too. On Friday all the newspaper presented the deal as a real fact, but because the two companies involved refused to comment on the matter, there weren't too many details to present. Hutchison Telecom is the first partner that Apple got in its program due to be launched this summer. The only preoccupation is whether it will launch the 2G or 3G model. Hutchison Telecom officials refused to comment and justified that it is part of the deal. On the other side, Apple's talks with China Mobile, the world's largest mobile phone operator, failed as many experts expected. However, most experts say that they are bound to get to an agreement after setting mutual satisfactions and both giants will see their revenues assured. Stay connected, more to come...
