Chris Cantell Discusses Technologies: Comcast repairing by Claudia Sonea

Well, after being busted with illegal control of traffic, Comcast Corp. is making sure all its subscribers are up to date with the measures it takes. The cable company and Internet provider posts on its Web site all the trials that will take place and also how users wil be affected. Looking back to the attitude the US’ largest cable television company and the second largest Internet service provider had in October last year when Associated Press made public its interfering, we can see how much they changed. Now they no longer defy everyone and say they were right in what they were doing, more likely through all the measures taken they want to correct their mistakes. That is why they invested in GridNetworks, a startup offering high-definition video through file-sharing technology, and started the collaboration with the Internet Engineering Task Force and other technology companies. The latest action towards the correction of the hampering with some file-sharing networks is due to take place on Thursday in Chambersburg and Warrenton and in Colorado later this summer. It will try to decongest traffic by solving neighborhood bandwidth hogs issues and it will have one month duration. Some subscribers that use the Internet for a longer period of time will find it hard to navigate during the periods of congestion, but that is until the trials will be over and they would find a solution to it, according to Comcast spokesman Charlie Douglas. Meantime, the Federal Communications Commission is checking the complaints against Comcast and will probably get to a conclusion that will be satisfying for everyone. At least that is what we all expect. They will probably take in consideration all the action made be the company to repair its mistake. Good strategy, bravo to Comcast!
