Chris Cantell Discusses Technologies: Softbank says to cut monthly fees for iPhone
by Radka Konkolova
I think people couldn’t imagine the world and their lives without using computers, Internet, and mainly cell phones. Companies producing such gismos know it and so they are trying to produce something which should make the user’s life easier and more comfortable and still it has to be pleasant and easy to use. So now cell phones include many features and functions from casual, as calling, sending and receiving text messages, through listening to music, playing games, watching and recording videos and sounds, to connecting to Internet and sending and receiving emails… And every of these devices has got easy and intuitive control.
Recently are people literally depended on these little “miracles” because thanks their size and multifunction users need neither such space nor devices as they needed in the past. It is really advantageous and people can enjoy more freedom. And because many of them want to look very stylish they are trying to get to the newest and best gismos. So they can choose from various types of these devices. One of the most popular but also more costly is the iPhone. It is small “miracle”. It has got many various functions and usually can thoroughly override computer with Internet connection. It is very easy to control. But in spite of all these facts it had got some defects before. Ok, it weren’t exact defect, but the problem was, they weren’t always compatible with products from Microsoft, what was problem for some users. But now is everything different and you can connect your iPhone to your computer which includes operating system that wasn’t made by Apple Macintosh.
The newest iPhone was launched some time last month but it already has got many fans and many users. Even in Japan and China, where the usage of it was predicted to be not so often and popular, it has got its sticklers.
When you want to use this cell phone you must purchase some services. Japanese company Softbank which provides Internet and telecommunication services, has made a discount for its clients using iPhone. So when they want to use the touch display cell phone for 3G calls or downloading some data, they will have to pay ¥2,990 ($27.71) monthly instead of beginning ¥7,280 ($67.47) for unlimited downloading. This means that customers will pay for data they download but the highest possible price will be already mentioned ¥7,280 ($67.47). In my opinion this is truly good idea because people won’t be afraid about their bills and they will use these services much more than they use them now.
I think this was good step from Softbank’s side because it will maybe persuade the clients to use these services and download more data because it is advantageous for them thanks to very acceptable price. And this can mean higher revenues and gains for the company…
