Internet Traffic Doesn't Harm Capacity. The Network Keeps Spreading!
by Milota Sidorova
I bet TeleGeography's research has been one of the most frequented topics in the world of Internet providers so far.
Annual report of the world's most comprehensive source of Internet capacity, traffic and pricing data, however can't change either stop the top strategies it is about to 'indicate the wider trend'.
So what are the outputs? I assume, one can find those numbers all over, it's predominantly supposed to be said that the feared Internet traffic, that in between the lines could slow either limit provider's services is all right and safe.
Comparing to last year, Internet traffic kept growing 53 percent, however weaken in front of 2006-2007 63 percent increase.
According WikiAnswers portal (!) updated 30th March 2008, more than 1,407,724,920 people that use the internet daily.
But now, let's take a brief summary to certainly more relevant information source. TeleGeography measured utilization of international links, U.S. domestic bandwith and general internet traffic (38 countries) as well as bandwith capacity (78 countries) along with profiles of 98 international Internet backbone operators and 386 Internet service providers.
Here we go.
On the contrary to expectations, that the traffic will overwhelm the capacity, the report suggests the whole internet population uses barely 29 percent of available bandwith. TeleGeography says the providers shouldn't limit their users for now, as it had been announced. Taken from general point of view only Latin America kept growing the number of subscribers, while the rest of the world declined the average as well as peak traffic during the last year.
The utilization of international links have dropped apparently in Asia and the old continent, while did the opposite in America.
The fuel engine for Internet was strong demand for on-line video streaming, or peer-to-peer downloading. Seems 'new' media strategies putting the news (or everything) on web keep steering through the hard times of declining Internet subscribers so far.
However, the things change...
