New on Oracle Corp
by Claudia Sonea
Extra news from Oracle Corp., the third largest software companies in the world. Technology market seems to be the only one giving a boost to US economy especially in the new context that the economic crisis has not only been officially admitted. It is a market marked by inventions, reinvention and profitability.
Oracle Corp is well-known for selling software for more than 31 years and most of its money went into creating a very diverse offer of software applications to its corporate clients, thus it acquired 50 other software makers only in the last four years. Now it seems to turn its attention on hardware too, Chief Executive Larry Ellison unveiling on Wednesday at an Oracle customer conference a "database machine" and a smaller storage product that will enable companies to have a faster access Oracle's database software and saving space in the same time. Hewlett-Packard Co. produced the hardware planned to be sold for $650,000.
Another reason to boast about the new hardware is that it stores up to 168 terabytes; therefore it is much larger than Apple's largest iPod. The partnership with HP could bring some profit from storage providers too and it brings new competition. Oracle Corp is on wave right now and its first quarter earnings going up 28 percent to $1.08 billion are proving that there will be more news in the years to come from this company. All hardware makers be aware, because thereâs a new sheriff in town and it wonât go down easily.
