Google is finally starting to get back money from its 2006 acquisition. The popular video-sharing website YouTube has been a risky investment, partially because since its 2005 launch it hasn’t managed to get any profit. Also, the users are accustomed with the liberty and the non-fee paying site and they might turn to rivals such as Hulu or Veoh (which is no longer available in Romania).
First of all, Youtube is trying to appease the spirits concerning property rights, thus the partner with MGM will give users the opportunity to see movies and clips directly from the source and like usual for free because the advertisers are paying big money. The announcement came on Monday and only two days later a second announcement came: "Sponsored Videos" platform. Advertisers can now bid for search words which will display the ads along with the results. The new technology looks for sponsored videos and charge "per click".
Another good move is online live shows and the first such show will take place on 22 this monthin Fort Mason Center near San Francisco's famed Fisherman's Wharf from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. You can access from anywhere youtube.com/live if you want to watch the talent contest featuring amateur performances, celebrity guests, and original videos. Musician Will.i.am together with "Internet-born stars" like Soulja Boy Tell'em will also be there, Discover Channel show "MythBusters" will make show there too. Activision, Lionsgate and Virgin America are the main sponsors and a bunch of vloggers will entertain us. That is something worth looking for. Enjoy!
