Absolute safety?
by Barbora Misakova
Today, not human life but information is the most important thing from all. It must be protected not to get to wrong hands which could misuse them. In the era of Internet communication, when the information is easily accessible, cyber attacks are just common component of our daily life, and we even don’t know about it. It is like a modern form of espionage. And as these cyber attacks are more and more sophisticated, it is a job of information technology providers to not only predict them but also protect against them. The fact that some kind of information is more important than human life is proved by the new security intelligence center which was built in the time o! f the biggest economy crisis. The Pentagon’s biggest contractor – Lockheed Martin Corp is opening its second internal security intelligence center this week. The first one opened in 2008 in Gaithersburg will have a new brother in Denver. As analysts and software developers say, the cyber security problem is a complex chess match between U. S. government and a host of smart attackers from nation states and criminal groups. Eric Hutchnis, a Lockheed cyber intelligence analyst, says there is 1 million “incidents” a day; they have to sort through and identify those activities with highest-risk. Biggest approach, not only Lockheed’s, is to try to get ahead of the threats. As there is always a chance to be attacked, you can never be protected on 100 percent. That’s the reason why Lockheed is working to increase the resilience of networks that would enable them to operate even if they were attacked. But it is still not a victory. While there are! threats changing every single day, then there never will be a! bsolute safety.
