Arnold Schwarzenegger visits Russia´s ´Silicon Valley´ by Zuzana Zelenakova

Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, landed Sunday at Moscow airport. His visit in Russia is aimed at promoting the country´s hi-tech industry. The curious thing is that representatives of both countries, Medvedev as well as Schwarzenegger, fell for wide spread phenomenon of social networking as they tweeted their impressions about the meeting. Former action movie star posted several enthusiastic tweets during the first day of the visit. "Just landed in Moscow. Beautiful day. Can't wait to see Pres Medvedev," he wrote shortly after arrival. It was followed by “Had a great talk abt entrepreneurship and technology” and “Riding with Mr Preside! nt in his great car. You’re a great driver Mr President!” Medvedev who started his Twitter microblog following his visit to California, and Silicon Valley to be exact, was quick to catch up with him. "@Schwarzenegger, welcome to Moscow. Looking forward to meeting you and your delegation at @skolkovo," he tweeted. Medvedev whose administration is marked mainly by the word modernisation wants Skolkovo to become Russia´s Silicon Valley. He invited Schwarzenegger to asses Russian potantial and ability to use US know-how. Cisco has already pledged to invest $1 billion to Russian technology projects. “I love places where there is an extraordinary potential,” California governor Schwarzenegger, 63, told members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia in Moscow on Monday. “It’s almost like looking at a gold or diamond mine and saying: all you got to do is go in there and get it.” “It’s perfect timing for Putin to be! prime minister and Medvedev to be president,” he added.! “ This is the ideal time, when things are still at a raw level.” Schwarzenegger was accompanied by some important figures from the world of technology, including Intel chairman Craig Barrett and top representatives from companies like Google, Microsoft and Oracle.
