Every epoch has its visionaries who in the footsteps of their geniality left behind totally altered world – but it rarely happens without a fight. When something revolutionary is created, there are only few people that know exactly what happened and who were really present at the time of birth of this change. In the movie “The Social Network” we can see how it was going when one of the most popular social networks of these days (also presented as the most revolutionary social phenomenon of the new century) had been created. Mark Zuckerberg has a bad deal. His name is now inflected in almost every newspaper or magazine. And it is “just” because ! he had created social network that so many people are addicted to. This 26-year-old co-founder created company which has grown from a service available only to college students into a Web powerhouse. According to industry analysts, Facebook has become so popular it poses a financial threat to established Internet businesses such as Google or Yahoo Inc. Still privately held company is valued at more than $30 billion and even though the movie “contains a lot of inaccuracies and petty lies and distortions”, it will nonetheless add to Facebook’s influence, says Facebook board member Peter Theil. Theil also believes the movie will “do a lot more good than evil” as it can inspire lot of young people to start great new companies. Whatever it can supposedly bring, it is important to realize that neither movie nor social network itself can do anything of it. It is people who are capable of anything – good or evil!
