For a person, who knows computers, especially technologies behind them and work with them every day, is the fact of their next development more than obvious. Tech evolution is quicker than light and there are thousands of people specializing in it. Chipmaker Intel as one of these specialists, is advising a group of more than 70 companies that encourage industry standards for “cloud computing”. Among these companies there is for instance Deutsche Bank, Lockheed Martin or BMW. The term “cloud” is actually used as a metaphor for the Internet and the point of “cloud computing” is that companies like these will share their data through softwar! e. That means that instead of computer storage space, there will be remote centers full of data, which will be accessed by the companies’ employees and customers over networks like the Internet. How does it work? In general, cloud computing customers do not own the physical infrastructure; they just rent its usage from a third-party provider. That means they consume resources as a service and pay only for resources that they use. About the fact it is very lucrative sphere testifies millions of dollars invested into it. Companies involved in the working group invest over 50 billion US dollars a year (!!!) in IT and plan to lay out their requirements for future cloud computing data centers, informed Reuters. “When you look at the changes happening in the world, the R&D that’s going on, cloud is probably one of the areas that is changing faster than any other area of our industry.” told Curt Aubley, a technology vice president at defense contractor Lock! heed Martin.
