Stuart Scott hits the sack
by Claudia Sonea
In 2005 Microsoft hired a CIO (Chief Information Officer) to replace Ron Markezich, whose role was described at the time as "chief beta tester. The new CIO was brought from General Electric and is none other than the man that hit the sack according to the press release on late Tuesday, Stuart Scott. He was supposed to be a role model for the company's best practices and the reason for which he was fired was the violation of corporate policies. The CIO role is very important and involves a unique perspective into the challenges that touch multiple functions across organizations and often have a clearer view of upcoming needs and opportunities. Moreover, it can drive business strategy down to ledger-based business results. In June Microsoft introduced new policy-based administrative software, including its Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment, whose aim was to help IT departments implement business, information, and communications policies that were said to be modeled by the IT department. If the performance of the new software is connected to the dismissal of Scott, it is still unconfirmed due to the refuse of the company to comment on the matter. Microsoft spokesman Lou Gellos read the official statement and revealed that Alain Crozier, a corporate vice president who also reports to Turner, and Shahla Aly, a general manager in the services group, will replace Scott until someone else is found to take over completely the duties. What happened behind the curtain is still unknown, but until further news, stay connected and get in touch with the giant company's press releases and Web notices, because there is definitely more than it tells.
