Data form warped disk drives from Columbian shuttle resolved

Jon Edwards is a genius in resolving what seems impossible at the first sight. He is just right person to find data from computers which have been badly destroyed by water or fire. And recently, he has managed to recover valuable information from the disk drive which had been melted when the Columbia space shuttle crashed in 2003. The disk was significantly burnt and the edges were melted. Jon Edwards remembered the first time they received the broken disk. He told it had been just two hunks of metal stuck together. And he admitted that they even could not distinguish it was a hard drive what laid in their hands. This particular disk served in Columbia's mission to save all necessary pieces of information from the experiment focused on the characteristics of liquid xenon. Majority of the data were sent to Earth but the rest was still on the disk. Thus, Edward's ability to recover the rest of the information helped to finish the research and consequently published the result in the science journal Physical Review E.There were many reasons to make Edwards more pessimistic about the possibility to recover the smitten disk. However, he explained that 340-megabyte drive was not full, and fortunately, that part, where data were stored, was not damaged. Another thing that helped the survival of data was the fact that the computer was operated by the means of DOS, an old operating system, which does not distribute saved data throughout the whole drive. All in all, he managed to detect unbelievable 99 per cent of the drive's information.
