Customers to be paid for buying songs
by Livia Cseresova

Young people and generally, people, want to be IN. They want to keep up with new trends and fashions, and this concerns not only clothing, makeup and accessories but also music. Buying CD’s or even legal downloading-paid is too expensive for some, and so many people download music illegally.

But a new Web site is trying to solve this situation a little. And even though the customers do have to pay music downloading, they can also profit, because the web site will pay them when other people buy songs they have purchased.

99 cents is the prize the users are charged for each song. After that, anytime someone buys the same song, the people who have purchased it before get paid in credit that can later be traded for more music. And the earlier the user buys the song, the more money they will get if other people buy it too.

In the future, the founders of the site hope, the customers will not be paid only in credit but also in cash. According to one of the founders, Hannes Hesse, the idea came from a want to support the interests of artists who want to sell their music and fans who want to get it for free.

He said: “We thought that by providing this extra incentive to buy a song legally, namely, owning a stake in that song, would make it more attractive to buy.“
But the problem is that the selection of song at the site is still not big. It includes approximately 700 songs from about 200 artists. The agreements between artists and web site are not exclusive, which means that the music makers can sell songs through other services, too.
