Chris Cantell Discusses Technologies: Popular iPhone 3G

As it seems, Apple iPhone 3G is really the biggest hit at the moment. It sells all around the world and people like to show off that they have THE iPhone. The thing that only proves the popularity of the phone is that it has won the title of the best gadget of the year. And the competition was really strong - three games consoles, a budget laptop and a balloon-shaped iPod speaker system.
The newest version of the cell is a combination of a phone, a music player and a video player. The title of the best gadget of the year was given to it by the readers of Stuff magazine in its yearly Gadget of the Year awards.
In the mentioned magazine, the phone was depicted as “a faster, cleverer version of an already remarkable phone. “
Actually, the first version, which was launched in Great Britain, won the coolest gadget prize at the ceremony last year. Among other nominees were Sony's PlayStation 3, Microsoft's Xbox 360, Nintendo's Wii Fit and the B&W Zeppelin iPod speakers.
According to the editor of the Stuff magazine, Fraser Macdonald, the products that got the nomination were judges on their performance, value and design, but also on the “elusive cool factor.” Macdonald also said that „Having our readers vote for a number of the awards has been fascinating. They are the ones out there on the street buying gadgets and so they are a great barometer. “
Asus Eee Pc., a no-frills laptop costing less than 300 pounds, also won a prize from a magazine, chosen by its editorial staff. The judges believe it had made more of an impact than any other device and marked the start of a „laptop for everyone“era.
