by Zuzana Zelenakova

Years ago CDs represented the revolution in the music industry that over the whole world. But it seems that days of glory have ended for this music format although it is still wide spread. Most of us who listen to the music on regular basis have fallen for MP3. Its player is quite handy when it comes to its size in comparison to the CD player but also as far as the amount of music on the player is considered. However a new music format has been introduced recently that will fit into your mobile phone or MP3 player just as CD is designed for the CD player. It is called “slotMusic” and it is physical music format of the 21st century. Thanks to slotMusic cards known as microSD cards you can listen to your favorite artists without being dependent on PC or the Internet. SlotMusic card will be equipped with USB sleeve able to operate with all computers – Windows, Linux, Mac. The main advantage is that it will function with vast majority if multimedia phones, basically any computer with USB connector and also sound systems in cars. With the capacity of 1 GB and the ability to hold also other content than music such as videos this new format really comes with unparalleled possibilities and freedom. Music companies such as EMI Music, Sony BMG, Warner Music Group or Universal Music Group will soon bring slotMusic to the market hoping to gain a new source of income. "Particularly in this kind of economic climate, the idea of being able to use an electronic device you already own to enjoy music rather than going out and buying a dedicated player is pretty compelling," said Daniel Schreiber from SanDisk Corp. which stands behind the slotMusic technology.
