Electronic books
by Claudia Sonea
Whoever said that reading books is old-fashioned was very wrong. In fact, living in the fast lane in a computer era, books could only be reinvented so that people can still enjoy reading. Thus Amazon.com Inc.'s Kindle or Sony Inc.'s Reader merged the computer and books and gave electronic books which are easily to read, faster to get and cheaper. Many oppose resistance because they prefer being faithful to the old book type, feeling the touch of the paper enriched with letters in ink.
Let's take a look at a new product that offers fast access to books concerning cooking, home projects, gardening and child care. Now, MiBook is a book-sized white slab and the books available are in fact memory chips. The 7-inch color screen offers a conventional liquid-crystal display, yet this might be a disadvantage because it consumes more power and needs to be close to a power supply, unlike Kindle, the Amazon's reader. It has a fold-out stand, a small remote, a rechargeable battery, a slot that will accept SD cards (text, pictures, and videos- small size).
What lacks to MiBook is a better screen (preferably in color)so that reading become more appealing, an indicator to show how much battery it has, and why not Wi-Fi (like Kindle and Amazon). The good news is that it is very cheap; $120, but you could purchase it for $75 online. All the books you would be interest to acquire would cost $20, so it's affordable and even enjoyable. Just give it a try and tell us how it was.
