Nowadays everything revolves around the computer and the Internet. It seems that our lives cannot anymore be complete without them, thus living life in the fast lane has a new meaning. You can be in a matter of seconds anywhere on the globe and do business with people at the opposite pole of the Earth saving both time and money. SF movies were a source of inspiration for some of today’s discoveries. Among the best discoveries are the social sites that facilitate the communication between people scattered all over the Earth helping to understand better other cultures, other mentalities, while learning to ! be more tolerant and respectful, leaving behind the racism and the prejudices that once were so deeply rooted in us. Personally, I like Facebook more than any other site, but apparently the hippest of them all is Twitter, recording 45 million visitors per month. It is a company that was launched on the market two years ago and by allowing users to send unlimited number of 140-character messages, it rapidly became the most popular. No wonder, thinking that it is free who wouldn’t like it? Following a policy launched by Google and taken as an example by many web sites, Twitter too allows advertisers to reach the Internet starting last Thursday. If you read its "terms of service" you will find specified that third-party advertisers can run their promos on the site which will remain free for consumers. In spite of the scepticism shown by some analysts, the idea is bound to be profitable and catch due to the fact that wherever you have a mass of peo! ple surfing, there is also a pool of potential consumers. In t! he case of Facebook it worked perfectly and the everyday user is not bothered by the ads that run on the left side of the site, but in the same time you cannot help looking at them and be attracted by some of them. Wouldn’t you agree?
