Good News from Netflix
by Claudia Sonea

Netflix is showing off this autumn with a brand new service streaming movies and TV shows from Netflix to TVs through the gaming console. The holiday season is getting closer and closer and all the big names of the industry are ramping up with their alluring goodies hoping that the recession will not affect too severely this year’s sales. After Apple, Microsoft, Google, now comes Netflix’s turn to revive the spark in customers. As one of the retailers with the highest American Customer Satisfaction Index, Netflix has to remain faithful to its policy of pleasing the customer, thus it will expand an offer that up to now ! was limited to Xbox 360 owners with a “Gold” membership for a $50 yearly subscription. It was streaming movies also on the Roku digital video player, Internet-connected TV sets (including Sony's), all recent Samsung and LG Blu-ray player, but the fact is that now anyone with a TV set can have access to the service, to the 17,000 movies and TV shows. Up to now PS3 owners got access to Netflix via the third-party Play On software, but for the new service they will have to acquire a free Blu-ray disc, with the subscription starting from $9. It is a joint project of Sony Corp. and the DVD rental company that will boost the revenues of both companies and already managed to get attention with an appealing slogan: "It Only Does Everything". Whether it will be a success or not, it will be seen in the quarterly report that Netflix will release at beginning of 2010. So, stay connected, more to come…
