What is “drowning”, or maybe better to say “stagnating” company willing to do for its own financial improvement? I would say anything, maybe even lost its own originality. Apple has unveiled its latest line of high-tech gadgets and services. A new miniature iPod Nano has a touch screen! Just like the old one, new iPod Nano has a built-in FM tuner and can display photos. But there are no buttons – controls of playing, pausing and selecting music are made by the use of screen. But that is not what I meant by that “loss of originality”. Apple started to interfere in the social networks’ sphere. It is nothing new when I say that F! acebook has already driven everyone crazy! It is not only about friends and colleagues anymore. Now there are moms and dads, even grandparents browsing on it and looking for their kids or grandchildren to become friends with them. On the other hand, companies such as Apple, which used to be in the position of market leader, are simply envious. When their cool toys such as iPhones, iPads and iPods started to be insufficient, they decided to come (again) with something new: Ping. Ping is Apple’s very own social network that should be a potential rival to Facebook and MySpace. This feature is probably based on the technology which was purchased last year from Lala.com. The Ping should serve for people using iTunes for “following” their friends, musicians and others. Basically, it is nothing new. It is just a social network created from various social networks already existing. It is very similar to already mentioned Facebook or Twitter and it is likely copyin! g last.fm. I don’t know what the Apple’s aim is, b! ut if th ey believed they could attract more customers, I would bet they will not. You don’t need any of Apple’s products to become connected.
