The last few days there is nothing I would be hearing of more often than Facebook. This hugely popular social network is filling “pages” of online newspapers increasingly often these days. While movie called “The Social Network”, allegedly inspired by the lives of Facebook’s founders is showing at the cinemas in this time of year, it seems like Facebook itself is preparing for brand a new epoch. It is just few days ago what the news about Facebook’s initial public offering, which is scheduled for late 2012, flew around the world. The step which has risen questions about the potential future fall of this popular social network seems more r! easonable now, when Facebook (or better say: someone behind it) has revealed another plan. Together with Internet Telephone Company Skype are allegedly in talks. These talks should establish a partnership which would integrate their communication services. Wall Street Journal, which spread this information, is supposedly citing a person familiar with the situation. The Journal also informed that Facebook users would be able to sign into Skype through their Facebook Connect accounts and so easily send messages and do voice or video chat. Person also told the paper, the integrated functions have already been built into Skype which latest version 5.0 is expected to be released in the next few weeks. According to this person, enabling Skype’s chat on Facebook would be a “logical progression”, though there is no logic for me. But as it is usual, competent figures are silent. Reuters try to reach them for comment, but neither Facebook nor Skype’s officials! were reachable.
