"The Social Network" is not about me!
by Barbora Misakova

People love fairytales, especially when they are inspired by real life. Movies about famous figures that started as common, ordinary people will probably always have success as they are giving others hope to become SOMEBODY. “The Social Network” movie which opens across the United States October 1 is in the frame for being blockbuster. Tale about the founding of Facebook, the most popular social network of our time “gave the opening of the New York Film Festival an aura of anticipation and a touch of controversy.” wrote Reuters. David Fincher, who is responsible for direction of this picture, cooperated with writer Aaron Sorkin whose works include &#! 8220;The American President” or “The West Wing”. But it is nothing new if I say that not everything we see on TV or in the cinema is real. As Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder of this social network has said: “It is a movie, it is fun” but it has very little in common with his real life. That is also the reason why he refused to cooperate with the film and with the book upon which the film is based and also why he announced a $100 million donation to Newark, New Jersey schools parallelly with increasing media attention to the film’s premiere. “I know it was controversial [but] I like the fact that he is prickly and smarter than everybody and makes no apologies for it.” said Fincher. As he added, it was not the story of a website, but the story of a bunch of dreamers. Well, this is maybe the right time to admit, that movies, anyhow great they are, will never be able to demonstrate what the real human life is like.
