Spring is the season to be jolly…or was that Christmas? Anyway, if it is not the season to be jolly, it is certainly the season when most summits take place and companies announce their partnerships, deals, acquisitions and others. At the Reuters Technology, Media and Telecoms Summit in Paris where the Chief Executive of Virgin Mobile stated mere predictions, Maurice Levy, chairman and chief executive of Publicis, came with a strong materialized deal with Google, although he did not offered too many details and promised to give them in the summer. Publicis, a French multinational company, is the world's fourth-largest advertising group that handles traditional advertising, media services, specialized agencies and marketing services. After it acquired in December 2006 the e-marketing company Digitas, Publicis has increased its importance in the online advertising market and that led to the partnership with Google in the digital sector. Levy did not disclose any details on the collaboration, except the fact that Google would give them technological information with use in analytical and media planning. He considers that the Google, Yahoo and other important Internet businesses are not an enemy, but rather possible partners that will help the company to develop. The forecast for the second quarter of 2008 was very good and they hope it will turn out to be true. As usual, the rivalry between Publicis and WPP (one of the four largest advertising groups) was obvious in the statements of Levy and Martin Sorrell, head of WPP. Both of them said the other one is weak due to the partnerships signed (Levy with Google and Sorrell with Yahoo). Now, we can just stay connected and see which will be stronger at the income figures.
