No more unlocking of iPhones
by Lenka Filipova
Well, since June 2007, it has been only possible to use the services by iPhone only in U.S. and it has been available on the network of AT&T Inc. To be more specific, that has been the intention of iPhone producers. However, the skilled hackers were able to get round to it in a very short time just after the product had been launched. Actually, it took them probably only a month afterwards to find the way to unlock the iPhone and make more available on various networks and as a matter of fact, in various corners of the world. Surprisingly, the analysis showed that more and more iPhones reached the other countries than U.S. and what is more, approximately more than a half of them were not of the AT&T production.Apple made a new iPhone which can be used on 3G data networks (on the third generation). Thus there are expectations that unlocked phones will be divided into two parts as following:The first one is aimed to be sold in more countries. Till this time, Apple has managed to expand to five more countries and is planning to reach at least 70 more by the end of the year. The second one includes the changes connected with the arrangement of selling the product. The customers can now buy iPhone without any service and they will be available anywhere in the Apple stores or they may receive it from a carrier. They will themselves unlock the phones, which means they will not sign up with AT&T.Ralph de la Vega, a head of AT&T Mobility, told they are together with Apple preparing the penalties on buyers who will not activate their phones within 30 days.
