Google introduces a virtual reality called ,,Lively” by Petra Kamenicka

Google, the company based in Mountain View, is not only attempting to retain its leading position as organizer of the world's information, but it is also trying to create more interesting Web for its users. As a result, this company introduced on Tuesday a new service, in which three-dimensional software enables its users to encounter each other in electronic rooms. This service is called ,,Lively” and Google provides this service free of charge. Lively is designed to be a portable 3D space.
But this idea is not new. Google improved 5 years old software called ,,Second life”. Second Life allowed people to create their alter egos and navigate them though virtual reality. According to Google's anticipations, even more people will be tempted to enter this virtual reality, mainly because it is free of charge and because after installing this software, users can enter this program from several Web sites. Delighting fact for users is, that Google is not intending to sell an advertising in Lively. This company can afford it, because the most profitable part of their business is their searching engine.
The main reason for developing such a type of program is, as Niniane Wang, a Google engineering manager says: ,,We know people already spent a lot of time online socializing, so we just want or try to make it more enjoyable.”
This service will be probably interesting for users, because they will be able to create an avatar- animated alter ego- which can be male, female or different species. This avatar will be able to change clothes and display emotions. It allows to build rooms and interact with other avatars- animated alter ego. As Niniane Wang explains: ,, If you enter a Lively room embedded on your favorite or website, you can immediately get a sense of the room creator's interests, just by looking at the furniture and environment they choose.” Of course, it will take some time for users to get used to, for instance Lively's cartoony environments or the ways of expressing feelings. According to Google's requirements, entrants of Lively must be at least 13 years old.

The Internet has a great power over its users whether they realize that or not. By being connected to the World Wide Web all of us surfing the net are exposed to certain dangers concerning mainly our online privacy and personal data. Different computer companies eagerly take advantage of this fact in order to rise their profits. And here comes a time that even Senate of the United States of America found some objections against such companies feeling that they abuse their customers´ confidence. Companies that are to be at the hearing that takes place on Wednesday are the biggest Internet players, we are talking about Microsoft Corp., Google Inc., Facebook Inc., and surprisingly the most attention has been drawn by a small online advertising company based in Redwood City, California. NebuAd business strategy is to cooperate directly with Internet Service Providers (ISP). Hardware located within the ISP network is capable of inserting content into pages. Then there is an off-site server whose aim is basically to track the users´ Internet communications. “This is analogous to AT&T listening to your phone calls all day in order to figure out what to sell you in the middle of dinner,” said Robert Topolski, a technology consultant to Public Knowledge and Free Press, which also raised objections against NebuAd. The company says that this way it gets a better idea about its customers´ interests. Its policy says that they will “specifically not store or use any information relating to confidential medical information, racial or ethnic origins, religious beliefs or sexuality which are tied to personally identifiable information.” However, it seems that controversy around the company cost it another customer and that is Wide Open West, a Denver-based cable provider that has been using NebuAd to track its customers since March. The hearing at Senate will give an opportunity to all those who criticize the software and the similar ones for violating wiretap laws an opportunity to give way to their arguments publicly

No matter how hard life is the best medicine is to laugh. As a sign that everyone is more than aware of the need of entertainment radios, TV's, computers, Nintendo have been created. It has become practically impossible for us to imagine a life without all this products and that is why we are always on the look out for the latest releases.
The tastes are different, but the good thing is that the inventions are for all types of desires and preferences. Now DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc (DWA.N) made some people's day brighter by announcing the partnership with Intel that will materialize in 3-D movies, according to the company's statement. Intel's chips will generate 3-D animated feature films like "Monsters vs. Aliens". I cannot say how it will be until we have the evidence, but it sure sounds great and it opens a whole new market of the entertainment industry. For all the animate movies fans it would be great to see their favorites 3-D. Mulan would definitely be spectacular. What would you like to see 3-D?
If you are more of an action movies or comedy movies fan, don't worry Intel also revealed plans to develop 3-D viewing technology for more personal use like home theaters, computers, video games, and mobile devices. So soon enough everyone will be satisfied. AMD, Intel's rival, will definitely give its best to come up with something flabbergasting and thus you will also have from where to pick.
Having huge success with the Shrek movie, Dream Works might even consider to make Shrek 4 in a 3-D version or Kung Fu Panda 2. That would worth big money to be seen and I am ready to go bankrupt. It is too early to say enjoy, therefore don't go away, the entertainment is about to come.

Do you remember that last year on June 29 Apple released the amazing Internet-enabled multimedia mobile phone called iPhone? It was a total madness and in spite of the expensive service deals people were queuing to get one. Apparently they were satisfied of the product as the new version is sold even before being launched.
It is not normal for Apple to market the iPhone online before the official release and they stuck to that policy. However, carrier O2 and Carphone Warehouse went for a change and made the new iPhone available to be sold online in Britain before the official launch due to take place on July 11. The demand was so high that they barely succeeded to cope with it, O2 posting that it had sold out, while Carpone said the demand was 10 times higher than for the first one. Don't worry they have separate stocks for the official launch; therefore you still can purchase one if you didn't have the opportunity to get one online.
The old version and the one due to be released this Friday have as common features documentation Stereo headset with microphone, dock connector to USB cable, cleaning/ polishing cloth, multi-touch screen with virtual keyboard and buttons, camera phone, text messaging, portable media player, e-mail, web browsing, and local Wi-Fi connectivity. Now there are some differences like the fact that first version uses quad-band GSM with EDGE, while this one uses UMTS and HSDPA, has faster networks (3G), GPS location chips corporate email. The starting price is the same from $500 and the service contract starts from $1400. 22 countries will have it on the market, while other 48 are on the waiting list.
I bet the iPhone is great, if you have the money to purchase it. If you don't than probably you should turn to Samsung's Instinct that offers most of the iPhone's features at a cheaper price. Enjoy!

Rôzne počítačové spoločnosti tento fakt využíbajú jedna radosť, aby zvýšili svoje príjmy. A konečne nastal čas, kedy už aj Senát Spojených štátov amerických vyjadril svoje obavy aj námietky ohľadne týchto spoločností vytýkajúc im to, že zneužívajú dôveru svojich zákazníkov. Spoločnosti, ktoré sú predmetom pojednávania, patria medzi najväčšie ryby na internetovom trhu. Týka sa to spoločností Google Inc., Microsoft Corp., Fcaebook Inc., no prekvapujúco najviac pozornosti sa v tomto smere venuje malej online reklamnej spoločnosti so sídlom v Redwood City v Kalifornii. Obchodná stratégia spoločnosti NebuAd je založená na priamej spolupráci s poskytovateľmi internetových služieb a pripojenia. Hardvér, ktorý dá sa povedať hosťuje v sieti týchto poskytovateľov internetových služieb je schopný načítavať obsah na stránky. Tá využívala služby NebuAd od marca. Pojednávanie v Senáte je príležitosťou pre všetkých, ktorí kritizujú tento a jemu podobné softvéry kvôli porušovaniu zákona, aby vyjadrili svoje argumenty verejne.

Pentru toti fanii filmelor animate ar fi extraordinar sa isi vada favoritii 3-D. Nici nu pot exprima in cuvinte cat de mult mi-ar placea sa vad Mulan 3-D. Dar voi ce vi-ati dori sa vedeti?

“There's really no room left for buttons,“ said Andrew Hsu, expert of touch-screen technology from Synaptics Inc. , which supplies touchpads for Apple´s laptops. And he convince the fact, that the demand for touch-screens is getting suprisingly tremendous. The year 2008 has already been a good year for touch- screens- and it´s not over yet!

After launching the first iPhone model a year ago, it thrilled many people, and it´s a fact that the updated model available from Friday will continue to make intense excitement. And this is making a good business for touch- screen manufactorers .

Jennifer Colegrove, analysist at iSuppli Corporation, said that after first iPhone, many companies realised that they also could do a kind of touch-screen mobile phones. And the business call out by Apple has started for many companies. American Sprint Nextel Corporation has just introduced its Samsung Instinct based on this technology. Verizon Wireless also came this year with first two models using a touch-screen. Sony Ericson is about to introduce its model. Popular BlackBerry by Research in Motion Ltd. is also suppossed to be designed to its touch- screen model. And Jennifer Colegroove expect an amount of 341 million sold touch- screen worldwide, in comparance of 2007 record 218 million and 2006 81 million pieces.

The demand for touch screens is propably driven by new phones in Asian market, which allows to users write Japanese or Chinese characters with stylus, and that´s much more easier than with buttons, supposse Colegrove.

Most of touch- screen´s most important part- touch sensors are manufactured in Japan, China and Taiwan by Nissha Printing Corporation, Wintek Corp. And Truly Semiconductors Ltd, but the supplier of first iPhone´s touch sensor was German Balda AG. In the Unirted States the biggest suppliers are 3M Corp., Synaptics Inc. and Cypress Semiconductors Corp. Makes chips to controll the sensor.

The first Synaptics´phone Onyx in 2006 was put together to demostrate the technology, then Korean LG used it in Prada phone, but Apple with iPhone was the first who really broke the barriers and opened a new market worldwidely.

Yahoo's new strategy by Claudia Sonea

The damsel in distress Yahoo Inc is still fighting for independency. The shareholders are struggling to get rid of the board of directors and reopen negotiations with Microsoft Corp, while CEO and co-founder Jerry Yang is doing his best together with the other directors to prove that they can survive and be competitive on their own.
A first step towards Yang’s ideal is the “Build your Own Search Service”, a project that Yahoo just launched and will give users the possibility to build customized Web search services on top of its own technology, to create their own text-link search services. For a complete service Yahoo News will be open for permutations and Flickr, its photo-sharing site will also open to developers its image database. In addition, spell-checking will services will be offered to all users. That will save a $300 million investment for a complete new search technology.
This resale partnership strategy is meant to give Yahoo a better chance against Google which owns 62 percent share of the US Web search market. In spite of the fact that last month Google reached out to Yang and through a deal Yahoo was able to survive the rejection of the generous offer from Microsoft, Yahoo still shows the desire to take over the leadership. It is a strategy borrowed from the mobile phone industry: borrowing network access that has no personal capacity.
Prabhakar Raghavan, the chief strategist for Yahoo Search, gave details through a phone interview. Amazon.com and Google have given access to their data centers, but Yahoo is breaking grounds by giving access to a more sophisticated search technology. It already has two potential customers and the expectation is for Yahoo to eventual require to run Yahoo search advertising alongside searches.

Po tom, ako bol vypustený prvý model iPhone pred rokom, vzbudilo to mnoho ľudí, a zostáva už len faktom, že vďaka vynovenenému modelu dostupnému od piatka bude pokračovať intenzívne vzrušenie. A toto vytvára skvelý business pre výrobcov dotykových obrazoviek.

Jeniffer Colegrove, analytyčka v iSuppli Corporation, povedala, že po prvom iPhone, si mnoho spoločností uvedomilo, že aj oni by mohli vyrábať mobily s dotykovými displaimi.

A high quality video recalling top secret laboratories of American FBI or worse. Two gorrila like guys carrying titanium box passing down all the security checks unless it appears with all its charm and elegance.

Iphone can proud itself by visually attractive and easy to go touchpad, the iPod player with Cover Flow and finger-flick navigation. The slide-and-glide of the photo viewer. YouTube on demand. Graphical Web browsing--though content using Adobe's Flash files. And more than this.
The artistic impression surely strikes plus 10 points, however, one must get through several contradictions.
At first, it is not all gold that shines. Although new smartphone promises the highest networks speed, Apple is still trying to kill its few bugs.

Can you believe cable giant Comcast? After coming out with just a slap over the hand from the scandal over the control of the Internet traffic, Comcast now is testing its luck again and tries to hamper with the competition on the market as on Wednesday announced a partnership with Vonage.
Now, normally if you’re naïve you would say the partnership doesn’t harm anyone as there are similar arrangements with other Internet companies. Comcast only tries to make sure Vonage's Internet phone service suits its broadband network and everything goes well. Yet, interesting about the deal is that Vonage is the main competitor of Comcast when it comes to voice over IP phone service. Both Louis Mamakos, Vonage Chief Technology Officer, and Tony Werner, Comcast Chief Technology Officer, stated that this doesn’t affect at all the competitions and that they only seek network management solutions that will offer consumers a better service.
Somehow the statement reminds me of the past when, after being exposed by the AP in October last year as controlling users’ access over the Internet, Comcast said that it was in the benefit of the users. In order to decongest traffic on the network they prevented the access of eDonke, Gnutella and BitTorrent, file-sharing networks. In the beginning the cable giant was rather indifferent about what they did, but the consumers’ outrage and the federal investigation made Comcast to work with the Internet Engineering Task Force and other technology companies so that other ways of managing traffic were to be found.
Comcast signed with Warner Bros for the exclusive behind-the-scenes movie footage, mini-movies and trailers of the Dark Knight and extended contract witch CSG. The list of good things happening to the company might continue, but is there no one to stop them from illegal stuff?

No napriek tomu si vychutnávame telefonujúce krásky a dravých mužských podnikateľov so sloganom dvojnásobne rýchlejší, dvojnásobne lacnejší.

Áno, na americký trh prichádza novú iPhne 3G.




Vysoko kvalitné video nás prevedie bezpečnostnými opatreniami priestorov a lá FBI, kde dvaja svalovci oduševnene nesú titánovú krabičku, z ktorej sa ako na zavolanie vysunie nový iPhone v celej svojej nádhere.

A o nádhere tu naozaj môžeme hovoriť. Atraktívny design tenučkého smartphonu disponuje plne eletronickou klávesnicou, fotoaparátom, kamerou, foto manažérom, online pripojením, kvalitným vysoko rozlíšiteľným displejom, podporujúcim hry a ďalšiu iPhone perličku – GPS systém navigácie. GPS vás nielen zavedie na miesta, kam sa potrebujete dostať, ale dokáže si zapamätať aj geografickú polohu miesta, kde ste napríklad odfotili nejaký obrázok.

S web pripojením máte všetko ako na dlani.




Hoci by som umelecký, ale hlavne emocionálny dojem ohodnotila desiatimi bodmi, treba uznať, že tento ´chytrý telefón´predsalen má tie svoje muchy.

Prvou je nepochybne rýchlo sa vybíjajúca sa batéria, ktorá nedosahuje ani polovicu výkonu prvej generácie iPhonov. Je to achilova päta telefónu, vravia kritiky na margo nevymeniteľnej batérie. Tá síce odstraňuje problémy s operačným systémom a váhovo odľahčuje telefón, avšak nezaručuje, že ho množstvo atraktívnych funkcií počas dňa skrátka nevybije. Apple vo svojich ´tipoch´na zvýšenie výkonu batérie odporúča vypnúť všetky nepotrebné funkcie. Preč s 3G a GPS službami, push emailom a Wi-Fi, Bluetooth pekne zaťažuje batériu. Takže stručne a jasne, to kôli čomu si telefón kupujete, radšej vypnite až dovtedy, kým to naozaj nepotrebujete.




Vlna nespokojných bloggerov, šťastných to amerických majiteľov si počas minulého týždňa posťažovala na problémy so samotnou 3G sieťou. Po zavolaní na zákaznícky servis sa im dostalo tejto odpovede. ´´Sieť je v dôsledku veľkého množstva pripájajúcich sa preťažená. Prosím, skúste sa pripojiť neskôr. ´´. iPhone sa chystá predať niekoľko miliónov telefónov, avšak problémy so sieťou rieši azda pomalšie. Sľubované ultra rýchle pokrytie sa nezrýchlilo ani o 48 hodín. Verím, že to pekne nahnevalo, nielen obyvateľov Long Islandu v New Yorku, kde sa potiaže vyskytovali.




A pokiaľ by sme pár slovami zkomentovali minulo piatočné okolnosti slávnostného spustenia predaja v Kanade, treba spomenúť šialenstvo, ktoré niektorých fanúšikov doviedlo k takmer 16 hodinovému čakaniu v rade na telefón. Stany a moknúci ľudia v daždi mi len tak ukradomky pripomínajú obrazy našej krajiny, ktorá v časoch tvrdého komunizmu vystávala v radoch na banány.

Títo ľudia sú kôli iPhonu schopní všetkého. Trebárs aj doletieť sem až z Jeruzalema, čo je prípad tamojšieho obchodníka so športovými potrebami. Podľa jeho vlastných slov mu tých 2000 dolárov za cestu stálo za možnosť kúpiť si 32G model za niečo málo nad 700 dolárov. Alebo pani, ktorá si za 200 dolárov prenajala človeka, ktorý jej v noci vystál miesto v rade a ona si mohla svoj telefón kúpiť ako dvanásta.




Na tomto druhu ľudí sa dá naozaj ľahko zbohatnúť.

eBay told to pay $61M to fashion brand for fakes by Radka Konkolova

Another scandal has shaken with the world, especially with France. The French Internet online auction hall eBay has been blamed from purchasing the counterfeits of the prestigious French brands. This plaintiff was given to the French court by LVMH, fashion company which is home to such prestigious brands as Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Fendi, Emilio Pucci and Marc Jacobs. These producers produce perfumes, bags and clothes, which can be sold only in specialty retailers and usually for great amounts.

The spokesman of LVMH has said, that these original products couldn't be sold in Internet auctions, so there couldn't be neither the fakes of them. The eBay defends because they think everything has been alright and this appeal is only the one of the LVMH's attempts to protect their uncompetitive commercial practices at the expense consumer choice. Because as everybody certainly knows shopping via Internet is more comfortable and also cheaper than in the retails and this could mean a less profit for these brands producers. Anyway, although the eBay's claims, the court has found them guilty and ordered them to pay a fine in the figure of 40 million euros what is about $61 million. Quite big amount, isn't it?

eBay's spokeswoman has said that if there were some counterfeits on their site, they would take them down swiftly. According to her this ruling of the court has been about LVMH's attempts to support uncompetitive practices on the market, what is quite inefficient for customers in term of establishing prices. Because as they have got their own brands and nobody else, except a few given retailers, can sell it, they will retain a monopolistic stay on the market and they will be able to assign the price they will like.

On the other hand, eBay has been already sued by luxury goods companies. So this is not the first case, but eBay defends they have got no responsibility for their users and auctioneers and for the goods they offer. Even though they have already spent millions of dollars a year trying to clean up fakes. But sometimes it is quite difficult to uncover some of the counterfeits. But thy should do it for their good image and for the holdback of good relations with such prestige brands holders.

Also Google, Inc. had got similar problem, when in 2005 it had to pay some financial compensation to Louis Vuitton, the LVMH member, for breach of the trademark. So it seems this fashion company is really very successful in winning the cases...

Svetom, hlavne Francúzskom, otriasol ďalší škandál. Francúzska internetová aukčná sieň eBay bola obvinená z predávania falzifikátov prestížnych francúzskych značiek. Túto žalobu Francúzskemu súdu podala LVMH, módna spoločnosť, ktorá vlastní také prestížne značky ako Louis Vuitton, Givenchz, Fendi, Emilio Pucci a Mark Jacobs. Títo výrobcovia vyrábajú parfémy, tašky a oblečenie, ktoré sa môžu predávať len v špecializovaných predajniach, zvyčajne za obrovské sumy.

Hovorca z LVMH povedal, že tieto originálne výrobky by nemali byť šírené a predávané prostredníctvom internetu, teda by na ňom nemali byť ani ich falzifikáty. EBay sa bráni, pretože si myslí, že všetko je v poriadku a táto žaloba je len jedným z pokusov LVMH, ako ochrániť svoje nekonkurenčné obchodné praktiky na úkor zákazníka a jeho rozhodnutia. Pretože ako každý isto vie, nakupovanie cez internet je omnoho pohodlnejšie a tiež lacnejšie než v obchodoch a toto by mohlo znamenať zníženie ziskov týchto značkových výrobcov. Každopádne, napriek tvrdeniam eBay, súd ich uznal vinnými a nariadil im zaplatiť pokutu vo výške 40 miliónov eur, čo je približne 61 miliónov dolárov. Celkom vysoká čiastka, nie?

Hovorkyňa eBay povedala, že ak niekedy boli na ich stránke nejaké falzifikáty, hneď ich z nej stiahli. Podľa nej je toto rozhodnutie súdu iba o pokusoch LVMH podporovať nesúťažné praktiky na trhu, čo je pre spotrebiteľov neefektívne z hľadiska tvorby cien. Pretože keď majú svoju vlastnú značku a nikto iný, okrem pár určených predajcov, ju nemôže predávať, udržia si monopolistické postavenie na trhu a budú môcť určovať ceny tak, ako sa im zapáči.

Na druhej strane, eBay už bola žalovaná niekoľkými spoločnosťami predávajúcimi luxusné tovary. Teda toto nie je prvý prípad, ale eBay sa bráni, že nemá zodpovednosť za svojich užívateľov a aukcionárov a za tovar, ktorý ponúkajú. Napriek tomu každý rok míňajú niekoľko miliónov dolárov na to, aby predaj vyčistili od podvrhov. Ale niekedy to je fakt zložité odhaliť niektoré falzifikáty. Takmer nelimitovanému prenosu dát vo všetkých formách nemohli konkurovať žiadne, doteraz prosperujúce formy komunikácie. A tak reklám nám zasa raz pribúda reklamy na tú či onú super ponuku mobilného telefónu a pošty, ktorú by okamžite potopilo jednoduché kliknutie myšou na tej správnej stránke. Ale to nám reklamy nikdy nepovedia.

Budú sa nás snažiť nalákať na mobilný video hovor, ktorý môžete za celkom ´slušnú sumu´ prevádzkovať zovšadiaľ. To isté však môžete úplne zadarmo zrealizovať aj cez internetovú doménu Skype. Ba dokonca i na vašom vlastnom mobilnom telefóne. Pokiaľ si aktivujete mobilný internet a máte ´slušný´(opäť raz to slovo) telefón s kamerou, Skype video hovor bude stáť smiešnych pár korún. Bez extrémne vysokých paušálov a poplatkov, ktoré vás skôr rozčúlia, ako podajú dôkaz istej firemnej etiky. Ešte stále platí, že firmy chcú predovšetkým zbohatnúť. Nech to stojí, čo to stojí. Alebo nie?

Vzostup jedného sa logicky rovná pád toho druhého. Tento univerzálny zákon evolúcie platí dvojnásobne v obchodnom sektore. Po všeobecnom zavedení internetu sa telefonické hovory stali menej a menej výhodnými. Obzvlášť tie z pevnej linky. Nedávno som sledovala reportáž o tom, že v Amerike sa čoraz viac ľudí zbavuje svojej starej telefonickej linky, ktorá sa tej prenosnej, vreckovej technológii už nemôže vyrovnať. Avšak nie všetci sa so svojím starým číslom chcú nadobro rozlúčiť. Veď vezmime si napríklad našu starkú, ktorá sa pracovať s mobilným telefónom sotva naučí, hlavne, keď si uvedomíme, ako si zvykla volávať na naše staré číslo.

V tomto prípade sa niekoľko amerických VoIP ( v skratke hlasovo-internetových) spoločností rozhodlo na trh uviesť nový produkt, umožňujúci prenos starého čísla pevnej linky na mobilný telefón. Proces zdanlivo výhodný a byrokraticky zdĺhavý.

Pre tých, ktorí budú chcieť využiť túto službu sa naskytajú dve možnosti, a to: zriadenie druhého mobilného telefónu s číslom pevnej linky, alebo prepojenie čísla na internetového operátora.
V prípade, že nechcete nosiť dva mobilné telefóny pri sebe, stačí si všetky prichádzajúce telefonáty z ´pevnej linky´presmerovať na druhý telefón. Táto voľba je však relatívne nákladná.

Prepojiť číslo pevnej linky na internetového operátora znamená, jeden mobilný telefón, na ktorý vám budú prichádzať všetky hovory za rádovo niekoľko dolárov mesačne. Touto službou však svoje staré telefónne číslo môžete prenášať na relatívne krátke vzdialenosti. Pri sťahovaní sa napríklad do iného mesta, musíte vopred informovať oboch operátorov.

Pokiaľ si však telefónne číslo pevnej linky prevediete na mobilný telefón, vedzte, že spätný proces je nemožný, poprípade zdĺhavý a komplikovaný. Starú pevnú linku buď oželiete alebo si ju zavediete nanovo s novým číslom.

Once upon a time in the distant Australia lived one woman. At the beginning there was nothing special on her. She was born in a little city in the middle of nowhere in 1899. She had a normal childhood; then she met a man, fell in love and had three children she loved and brought up. Her name was Olive Riley and she was known by her friends as goodhearted and friendly persona. When I think about it, I would say she had just a normal, maybe from time to time even a bit boring life. Just like most of the living people these days. But those of you who think that life begins at the age of 17 and ends at the age of 50 are wrong. The life doesn’t end at the old age. On the contrary, sometimes it just begins. And this woman knows it and she was the brilliant example of it. Olive as 107-year-old woman started enjoying life by her own and in February 2007 she started blogging. As a woman who lived in three centuries she wrote about the world changes and differences. She knew what the word “war” means because she went through two world wars and lot of significant political turns. She was writing a lot about her childhood and the life we are living these days and she was doing it with a calm humor so typical for older people. Maybe that’s why lot of people around the world were reading her blogs, replying on them and what is more regularly communicating with her. She found lot of friends on the internet and she loved communicating with them. During her blogging carrier she wrote 74 blogs and so became the oldest blogger in the world. Olive, rest in peace.

Good news for Apple by Claudia Sonea

On Monday Apple presented the figures after its first weekend and the executives declared to be more than satisfied. Why wouldn’t they be? As they topped analysts predictions and the stock rose more than 2 percent. It was much better than the performance reached by the first version of the iPhone launched last year in June in the United States.
Some would say that the 1 million new iPhones sold just last weekend is not good enough to compete with the 10 millions a week sold by Nokia or Samsung, but the truth is that this brands of mobile phones offer multiple models a year, while Apple offers just one and is more likely to reach the same figures by the end of the year. People are crazy after it and they lined for hours to get one. Unfortunately, the launch on Friday was not without problems, many buyers leaving stores highly disappointed that the long awaited gadget could not be activated. AT$T, the only carrier for the iPhone in USA, said that the problem was caused by too many people who were trying to connect to iTunes in the same time, thus the synchronization with Apple’s iTunes not being possible.
The iPhone’s target is now represented by big companies which are rather doubtful of switching from the good old Blackberry, in spite of the fact that the support for corporate email offered by Apple is much better. However, they are starting to test it and maybe soon they will even purchase it heavily.
Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs made public his contentment about the start of the sales of the iPhone 3G that kept the popular touch screen and added faster wireless network, enabled download of third-party applications, etc. The best part of all is that this product is at half of the price the first iPhone was sold. Is that somehow related to the fact that Samsung Instinct is about to be launched at a lower price? Competition is always good…for the consumer.

Vyrastala so svojimi rodičmi a jej detstvo bolo ako každé iné; neskôr potom stretla muža, zamilovala sa a mala tri deti, ktoré milovala a s láskou vychovávala. Volala sa Olive Riley a jej priatelia a známi ju poznali ako dobrosrdečnú a priateľskú osobu. Celkom pekný príbeh, čo poviete? Keď tak nad tým uvažujem, nebolo na Olive nič výnimočné. Jednoducho si žila svoj život, bežný, všedný, miestami možno pre ňu dokonca až nudný. Presne taký, aký žije v dnešnej dobe väčšina z nás. Avšak tí, ktorí si myslia, že život začína 18. rokom života a končí tým päťdesiatym, sa mýlia. Život sa starobou nekončí. Práve naopak, niekedy sa ešte len začína. A táto žena je toho svetlým príkladom. 107 ročná Olive si začala svoj život užívať po svojom, a dovolím si tvrdiť, že trošku netradične – pred vyše rokom začala písať blogy! A poviem vám, za tým počítačom a so slúchadlami na ušiach jej to naozaj pristalo. Ako žena, ktorá zažila prelom 3 storočí mala veru o čom písať. Jej blogy boli o zmenách a rozdieloch. Boli o jej detstve, o dvoch svetových vojnách, ktoré prežila, o politických zmenách, ktoré zasiahli nielen svet, ale aj ju, ale tiež aj o dnešnom svete a živote. Všetky jej blogy boli písané s láskavým humorom, a azda preto si získala sympatie a obdiv ľudí po celom svete. Tí nielenže jej blogy čítali, ale často a radi s ňou aj komunikovali. Olive počas svojej kariéry blogerky napísala 74 blogov a vďaka svojmu mladému duch sa stala najstaršou blogerkou na svete.

Kann man dem Kabelriesen Comcast glauben? Nachdem er nur mir einem blauen Auge aus einem Skandal über die Kontrolle des Internet-Verkehrs davongekommen war, versucht Comcast sein Glück wieder und versucht, die Konkurrenz auf dem Markt zu erschweren, indem er am Mittwoch eine Partnerschaft mit Vonage ankündigte.

Damals sagte Comcast, es sei zugunsten der Benutzer gewesen. Um den Verkehr im Netzwerk sicherer zu machen, verhinderten sie Zugang zu eDonke, Gnutella und BitTorrent, das heißt zu Dateien teilenden Netzwerken. YouTube is a very popular website, which is daily visited by many people. Here you can find especially videos, you can watch your favourite songs, watch some comic videos or shows. You can add here your own video and share it with other people. It is possible to add here commentary to videos, which you like or dislike. YouTube is a huge community, which connect people of every age. YouTube was created in February 2005 and after 3 years it is known by almost every person, who has connection to the internet. Unregistered users can watch most videos on the site, while registered users can upload unlimited number of videos. When we talk about the popularity of this site & in January 2008 nearly 79 million users made over 3 billion video views.
Viacom is an American media conglomerate with interests in cable and satellite television networks and movie production and distribution. The main confrontation between Google and Viacom was that Viacom complained about the videos, which appeared on YouTube. Viacom thinks that videos that infringe copyright are watched more than the videos created by the users. Viacom wanted the indemnity more than one billion dollars and all the user's data (Internet Protocol, login).
The judge assigned to Google give all the user data including videos. Google has to give to Viacom the login of users, too. Google objected that this is violation of users'privacy, but the judge said that these objections were speculative.
But on Monday Viacom agreed that it is better to protect the privacy of users. The only thing what should YouTube do, is to exchange the user login and IP addresses. YouTube has now one week time to ensure this problem. But I think that it won't last for a long time.

YouTube ist im Februar 2005 entstanden und nach drei Jahren kennt diese Seite fast jede Person, die Internetzugriff hat. Die nicht registrierten Benutzer können beinahe alle Videos ansehen, während die registrierten Benutzer Videos beilegen können. Wenn wir über die Popularität sprechen – im Januar 2008 haben fast 79 Million Benutzer mehr als 3 Miliarde Videos angeschaut.
Viacom ist ein amerikanisches Konglomerat, das sich in Kabel-, Satelit- Fernsehernetz und Filmproduktion und Distribution interessiert. Das Hauptproblem zwischen Google und Viacom war, dass Viacom sich über Videos auf YouTube beschwerte. Viacom denkt, dass die Videos, die Copyright verletzen, sind mehr angeschaut als die Videos, die die Benutzer erstellt haben. There are still arriving new technologies on the market. Only few days after introducing the newest iPhone by Apple there are lot of reactions from people who bought it. They are not so much satisfied as they expected. But I have to say, that there will be still some people who are always dissatisfied. Because they always expect more than they get. The newest iPhone is faster than the old one, has better sound quality and some new applications, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Yellow Pages which can be downloaded. Some applications you can get for free, some of them you can get after paying a fee.
Are you interested in the price of this iPhone? The 8-gigabyte model costs 199 dollars and the 16-gigabyte model costs 299 dollars. This price includes two-year service.
Now I can write something about the disadvantages of this iPhone. This phone is still missing Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). You can share your photos taken by 2-megapixel camera, you can share YouTube links, but there is no possibility to send MMS for your friends. Some of the users are missing the possibility to copy and paste text on the iPhone. Another defect of this phone is the touch-screen keyboard which is not able to rotate. Another thing which is criticized is the 2-megapixel camera. Nowadays almost every phone has better camera, so why does the iPhone have it not?
I could write even more about the defects of the iPhone, but I think there should be always something to improve. If this iPhone would be perfect everybody would buy it. And nobody wouldn´t want any other model. But if you are a fan of innovation just buy this new iPhone!

I have to make a confession. I always wanted to be a singer. Yes. I wanted to have my own band, to travel around the world and doing music. Not for being famous, but for having fun and creating something what would belong to me. Something what could fill me and warm me up. I remember that when I was kid I used to sing to myself while I was lying in the bed and trying to fall asleep. And every time when I didn't keep my voice on acceptable volume, my father called on me from the living room to stop singing and sleep. It was my secret dream to sing and from time to time it comes back to me. Fortunately I was too shy to do anything with that. So except my schoolmates on some little school actions no one hear me singing. But this dream have stayed with me for a long time and in some way I am glad. Dreams are not changing, they can be just losing their intensity. But this one didn't lose anything. And I bet there is a lot of shy music lovers as I am.

The bright evidence is the popularity of various music genre games such as “Guitar Hero” or “Rock Band”. These games are dedicated to those who like playing games but need to be more creative. And of course they are for all those who love music. All these games are working on a very similar base – a player have a toy musical instrument on which he can play and so have a simulated experience of playing real instrument. The main difference is usually in the number and type of instruments the players can try to play on. So games are offering you to play the guitar, bass, drums, sometimes even saxophone or other instruments. If you want you can be also a singer and singing to the toy microphone all your favorite songs. In 2007 music genre games accounted for 16 percent of U.S. video game software sales. As the numbers themselves say these games are very popular and with their increasing quality, a number of users will grow too.

Please Check Out The Stars Tonight! by Milota Sidorova

I remember the best years of my childhood, stuck into several picture cyclopedies about space. Yes, like many other kids in my age, I was fascinating by those magic, however, merciless world of bursting fiery gas mases, among us – called the stars.
I wanted to be an astronaut, not because of working for somebody, just because the feeling of no gravity. Place surrounded by shining darkness, magnificent sights and strange looking planets beneath my feet.
I was dreaming to spend years of my life, conserved inside the metal construction, eating those strange artificial food from plastic sacks, even pissing to the tubes(to avoid unwanted effect of no gravity space traveling).
That would be just great. I hoped that till the time, I will be able to launch the space shuttle, scientists will progress the study of anti-substance, to assure effective gearing to my space ship. But what was the most important was to break the law, prohibiting the animals to fly through the universe.
What a shame. I was inseparable from my trusty dog Harino. So I was dreaming of my first steps in the universe along with my beloved dog...

Then, I just can't remember, what has happened and I stopped dreaming of being an astronaut. Maybe it was the college, that showed me another face of my idealistic world, maybe it was just my interest for the music. However, one day I found myself graduating in strangely new female body, kissing some man and filling application for my university architecture studies.

As because my Harino has gone, I focused my interest on half male, half study and half artworks. Three halves making one together. Well, there's still something not logical at the first sight. Something childish and naïve. But it wasn't for me. It was the strange belief, that poured me into the world, keeping my inner focus and creativity.
That is what do children have. It is what comes 100 percent naturally and what might disappear by the first business interview.

I still keep it, knowing, that three halves could feed my imaginations of being a space walker. However, passion for space and stars, is something that has remained. When having gray, ordinary day, instead of low intelligence women's magazines I always connect to NASA photo gallery and enjoy the most marvellous images of our outer space garden. All of them are stunning.

The whole matter Yahoo and Microsoft is getting tired and uninteresting. There have been so many rumors and so many debates on the entire issue that no one seems to have the patience to read or hear news about it. However it is inevitable and the only hope we all have is that after the general stock holders meeting it will all be over.
Most of you know that since 2005 Microsoft pursued Yahoo for a takeover. The last takeover bid took place in February (US$44.6 billion dollars in cash and stock). The offer was more than satisfying according both to analysts, but also Yahoo’s shareholders and employees. Nonetheless, Jerry Yang, Microsoft’s CEO and co-founder, together with Yahoo’s board of executives turned down the offer and said that it is in the benefit of the company and its employees. Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s CEO, refused to give up and approached the board of directors giving them three weeks notice that if they won’t accept the deal, Microsoft will be forced to talk directly to the shareholders and ask them to elect a new board of directors if they want a merge. On May 3, 2008 Microsoft withdrew the offer.
It is clear that Yahoo needs a saving boat and the multi-millionaire Carl Icahn, one of Yahoo’s shareholder, thinks that the best solution is a merge with Microsoft, so he sued Yahoo’s board of directors for snubbing the generous offer without taken in account financial interest, but rather personal ego. As the shareholders meeting is more than a week away, there have already started the news about it. So, according to the last rumors the board of executives sent a letter to shareholders in which they criticized harshly the attitude of Carl Icahn who is being lead only by his desire to sell Yahoo either parts of it or the whole in order to recover his investment. Moreover, Icahn has no experience in technology companies and thus he is not suitable to negotiate any merge of a company he does not know or fully understand.
Most of the letter is against Icahn and Microsoft. Although Icahn is a debatable matter, Microsoft on the other hand was unjustly accused of being indecisive. I think that three years of pursue is an evidence that it lingers to merge with Yahoo, while the offer was more than generous. Even the fact that after being turned down so many times and still wanting to go through with the merge reinforces the commitment of Microsoft. Only after 1 August things will be settled and finally the restless damsel in distress will have her situation clarified.

In the computer era it is unnatural to not possess a computer. In fact the newest trend is to acquire a laptop. It is mobile and easy-to use, occupies a small space and gives access to the Internet in a much better variant than that offered by a mobile phone. It doesn’t matter if you are a business man or a teenager; the laptop is useful in all kind of activities. However, as owner of such a device I must confess that the battery life span is rather unsatisfying and I would definitely enjoy one that doesn’t end in a maximum of two hours.
Stop worrying, our troubles will soon be over. At least that is what PolyFuel promises- a laptop powered by a portable liquid fuel. This company is creating fuel cell membranes and on Wednesday announced that a prototype laptop will be launched on the market soon. It is a Lenovo T40 ThinkPadthat that uses methanol cartridges and a fuel cell as a power source. The methanol fuel cell converts methanol (wood) in electricity to power the laptop and only one cartridge can make it work for 10 hours. Having the size of a deck of cards, the cell can be replaced without having to turn off the laptop. NEC and Sanyo are customers of this company, so we may trust it to not deceive us.
The methanol fuel cell have been in the attention of a number of consumer electronics makers because the cartridges are portable and can provide longer usage of the laptop. Moreover, MTI MicroFuel Cells, a direct methanol fuel cell company, took everyone by surprise with its Mobion fuel cell saying that it had lasted 2,700 continuous hours. Until now no product using that type of power was commercialized, but in the next two or three years anything is possible.
