Money making, money taking
by Barbora Misakova
Waiting on money is always more than boring and annoying. You cannot buy anything, you cannot go with your friends on coffee or beer, you cannot go to the cinema, and you are feeling just like a slave of your money. They are saying what you can or cannot do. And that quite sucks, doesn’t it? The problem is we get used on them too much, and now we think we cannot live without them. Money gives us material things we can own and hold. So there is no surprise that people prefer to spend their money on technical devices, clothes, and gadgets rather than on food or oil. Like a thing we can hold and show others makes us happier and more socially important. Who cares we have money for gas or oil which prices are still growing up, who cares if we are eating bacon or first-class ham or some kind of Tesco vacuum-packed salami. Important is to make yourself happy, and even though taste of super ham could do it, it is just for a few minutes anyway. What about such a new computer or TV? Of course they can give us much more fun and entertainment and it lasts for sure longer than the happiness from Sunday’s lunch. And that’s it! We are able to pay more for entertainment, rather than for food or something what can give us a lift.
I can see it on myself. Even though I don’t have money for spending, and I should save them rather than spend them on some stupid little things, I always buy something what makes my day. I can’t remember how many times I did it, but I know for sure, it was more than once. Last month, when I hardly had something to eat, I decided to buy myself a beautiful orange nail polish. And maybe it sounds weird, it really made me happy that day, and it still is also today when I am wearing it. The same could be said about others. Economy has big problems, lot of companies is afraid of global economic slowdown, increases of oil prices and so on. Even TV market was shivering with fear that consumers will lose their previous appetite. During the period of tougher economy and tighter budgets, people are just more sensitive but they are still buying products. Productss which could make them happy and which can make their life a little bit better. As the statistics show customers with less money are not buying third-tier brands of goods. They are buying fewer products, but still the same brand of electronics and devices. So what does it mean? I tell you. It means that people know the value of money, but they give preference to the value of entertainment in this sad and slowly bankrupting world.
