It is expected that Apple Inc will show off a new line of iPods on September 1. The company may also unveil its plans to improve its TV project. In recent years, Apple has used September to inform about the news and present new iPod models for the rest of the year. Usually it also introduce new features for its online media store iTunes. Last year in September, Apple has informed about the comeback of Steve Jobs, who had returned after he underwent a liver transplant. This year, blogger expect improvement of Apple TV, but analysts do not think Apple would announce a big change of its TV in September. Reuters reported that Apple is negotiating with the major American TV netw! orks about offering their TV shows for rent via iTunes for 99 cents per episode. Reuters further said that the negotiations are still in process. Apple and the TV networks refused to comment this news. Apple's September event will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. It is the same place, where the iPad was introduced in April. iPod is enjoying its dominant position in the music and media player market. But in the past years the company has focused more on the iPhone and iPad. In the second quarter Apple has sold 9.41 million iPods. Last year it was 10.2 million. Long-neglected Apple TV is not that popular. Every year Apple sell only 1 million Apple TV units. Therefore analysts expect the company would enhance the device. It is largely expected that Apple will introduce enhanced TV this holiday season, or the first half of 2011.

I am a big fan of Google Inc. I love their Gmail account and all its features. I love that Google employs clever and inventive people who always come with something new and hilarious. Just like now. In time of crises, everyone thinks of the best way to safe some money. Even the biggest military institution in the United States of America! Maybe this shouldn't be strange if it's well known that very big part of the countries budget goes on the army. Pentagon now launches a technology that promises bigger efficiency of military spending. This should help reduce costs of the institution.   The idea is more money to stay in the budget for the air forces and for modernization.   "The efficiencies initiative is an important thing to do. I see technology as a leverage for that. The efficiencies initiative is an important thing to do. One system has already been made half a year ago and it helped to protect the helicopters from small arms fire by a specific system. Some of the technology is planned to be used in Afghanistan at the beginning in October. The Pentagon also created a better surveillance in military bases in Afghanistan.   This technology has increased the efficiency in matter of days and weeks and not the years that usually were spent.   A lot of analysts think that it was about time that Pentagon would pay more attention on not spending so much money on weapon program, because that costed other segments that waited for money.   As far as USA is all the time in the center of each war wherever it happens, it is no wander that they put a lot of money on it. Who knows how much money does this technology cost.

Although we're living in 4 or more G phone period, recession and worries may slow down our demands. Although we have decided our 3G smart phone bought last year was completely useless because we just needed some extra thirds of seconds better connection or metal instead of plastic phone cover, we would have to survive the worst nightmare of a customer.We will have to wait, because although we decide and agree to spend some hundred of dollars for these new products, they won't be in shops.They won't be on internet, because their creators and providers have run out of chips.Although Chinese factories work on 120 percent speed, although their workers sometimes jump out the wi! ndow because they just can't go on working 20 and more hours a day just to produce more, there is not enough of chips.That means we have to wait and not to be as cool as it's generally required.These problems have hit most of smartphone and computer producers all over the world, according them chip industry is risky business with demand rising up one day and falling down the other day. Most of companies just don't want to risk to build up entire factory, hire new people or just upgrade their existing facilities.The only one apparently going well along with chips is Apple, already the world king of electronic goods. Some observers say its “dumb luck” comes from its market positions, as the biggest consumer of electronic components it swallows most of chip production, but even Apple has had problems producing enough iPads and 4G iPhones this season. Although it sold more than million of deviced in just several weeks, its Chinese lines are overheated and can't pro! duce more. For now, it seems crisis and unstable chip environm! ent is s lowing down the production.But the question is – is it really slowing the production or is it a case that bars were risen on unreachable level? What is the main aim of our society? Is it progress or decline? Most of you would probably answer: “progress”. But what kind of progress and development do we actually mean? As I watch common people’s behavior and activities of most of corporations participating somehow on our lives, it is like technological progress was our only target. But calling it progress is more than ridiculous. First of all, devices which are produced these days are not making our lives easier, but spoil and make us always unsatisfied. It is like we couldn’t be satisfied with mobile phone that can “only” send e-mails, faxes, take pictures and make videos. We want ! still more and more. We want it to be our personal computer, our daily servant. Although these devices have many features, most of them (when you think about it a bit) are actually useless. Why should we long for a mobile phone with an electronic reader when we can take a book? Why should we long for a mobile phone with plenty of games when we can rather play with friends? Answer is: because it is easier. And there are still less and less people reading books anyway. Sure, some would say that reading book is old-fashioned and we need something what will entertain us more. But I still doubt that computer or mobile phone of any generation could do it better than friends you can hang around with in the woods or in the park. If you belong to those, who are careless about Sony-Apple competition for your money and attention, then congratulations! If you nevertheless belong to the group of “technological” devotees, then you probably know that Japanese electronic giant ! Sony is developing a new lineup of handheld products. Čo je hlavným cieľom našej spoločnosti? Je ním pokrok či úpadok? Väčšina z vás by určite odvetila: „pokrok“. No o aký progres a rozvoj v skutočnosti ide? Ako tak sledujem správanie bežných ľudí a korporácií, ktoré sa akýmkoľvek spôsobom podieľajú na našich životoch, zdá sa mi ako keby technologický pokrok bol naším jediným cieľom. Napriek tomu nazývať súčasné dianie technologickým rozvojom, mi príde viac ako smiešne. Po prvé, zariadenia, kto! ré sa v súčasnosti vyrábajú nemajú naše životy uľahčiť, ale rozmaznať. Navyše, ich úlohou je uspokojiť nás len dočasne a tým nás urobiť večne nespokojnými. Čím to je, že sa nemôžeme uspokojiť s telefónom, ktorý vie „len“ posielať e-maily, faxy, robiť fotografie a videá. Pretože chceme stále viac a viac. Chceme, aby zariadenia boli našimi osobnými počítačmi, našimi každodennými služobníkmi. Tieto zariadenia majú množstvo funkcií, avšak väčšina z nich (ak sa nad tým na chvíľku zamyslíte) sú v skutočnosti zbytočné. Prečo by sme mali túžiť po telefóne s elektronickou čítačkou, keď si môžeme vziať do rúk knih! u? Prečo by sme mali chcieť mobilný telefó! n s mno& #382;stvom hier, keď môžeme ísť von s priateľmi? Odpoveď je jasná: lebo je to jednoduchšie. Aj tak čoraz menšie množstvo ľudí knihy číta, tak na čo sa to hráme? Niekto by povedal, že čítanie kníh je zastarané a potrebujeme niečo, čo nás zabaví viac. Ja však stále pochybujem, že počítače či mobilné telefóny akejkoľvek generácie by mohli nahradiť spoločné chvíle s priateľmi a známymi niekde v lese či parku. Ak patríte k tým, ktorých súperenie spoločností Sony a Apple o vaše peniaze a pozornosť nezaujíma, tak gratulujem! Ak aj tak patríte k oddaným fanúšikom, tak potom pravdepodobne viete o tom, že tento Japonský elektronický gigant vyvíja nový druh produktov. Government suggest it is necessary from security reasons and Blackberry, one of most favorite smartphones on Indian market could be dangerous for civil security. So far RIM hasn't made any official statement on this affair. But if it rejected the proposal, Ministry would prohibit any email and message services for every Blackberry customer. They would only make calls or browser on internet. That would put RIM into economic risk, but on the other hand an image of privacy protection is in stake. The company has to decide before August 31th.

Have you ever think of the importance of a name? First, it is one of key label of one's identity, according particular name one recognizes a person, city, place, product, everything. Names also bring a lot of history within them, human names usually have their origins in old nations and tribes although they may be well hidden in this rushing period. For example, Samuel has had its roots in Middle East reffering to Jewish origins, but also Chicago reffers to a special plant growing near the river the city lies on. And it is originally Indian name. Names also bring different energy or characteristics, Paul is supposed to be kind of ambitious person while Nina should be more i! ntrovertial. Yes, there are exceptions, but once you start to search for background of your name, it may lead you into very exciting ways.But there are people on this planet that simply don't care for names and don't see their importance from this point of view. Recent example comes out from Kansas city, Topeka that has decided to change its name into Google. What was behind the reason to change its identity, orientation into one of the most powerfull product in this planet? Topeka's mayor tried to impress the company and won the competition. Google offered 100 times faster internet connection for free to any city that will promote, surprise or work out the best campaign for it.For city representatives it was mayor challenge to get it at any cost. 79 years-old mayor Bill Bunted saw it as funny way how to get capital into the city with more than 120,000. It seems people in Topeka really didn't care for the name, since a lot of them eventually changed their location on some s! ocial-networks as Google, Kansas. But this wasn't the first ti! me the c ity changed originally Indian name according latest fashion – in 1998 it was Topikachu. Name was reffering to city's favorite Pokemon. Topeka in Kansa language means to “dig out good potatoes”.Although I know one shouldn't object someone else's tastes, I would be just curious what name will people in Topeca choose if there will be another good competition or rich offer. Maybe we will see more cities, perhaps areas, regions even states like Coca-Cola, McDonalds or Shell.

Rozmýšľali ste niekedy nad významom mien? V našej civilizácii sú nezastupiteľnými nositeľmi identity. Podľa mena si zaradíme osobu, mesto, miesto, produkt, skrátka v našom systéme, meno sprehľadňuje a urýchľuje akúkoľvek ľudskú komunikáciu. Mená však majú svoju históriu – ľudské mená zväčša vychádzajú zo starých jazykov a národov. Napríklad Samuel, dnes tak populárne meno odkazuje na blízky východ a židovskú tradíciu. Mesto Chicago za svoj ná! zov vďačí Indiánom ktorí takto pomenovali istú cibuľovitú rastlinu rastúcu v blízkosti rieky, na ktorej dnes mesto leží. Mená nemajú len históriu, ale aj zvuk, energiu a charakteristiku. Tomuto môžete, ale aj nemusíte veriť. Napriek tomu sú isté atribúty spájané s istými menami – meno Pavol by malo odkazovať na ambicióznu osobu, Nina by mala byť skôr introvertnejšia. Samozrejme, charakteristika mena sa nemusí vždy zhodovať s povahou nositeľa každopádne však skúmanie tak bežnej veci, ako je meno, môže priniesť veľa vzrušujúcich objavov. Niektorí ľudia sa však o mená a ich význam príliš nezaujímajú. Podnetom pre tieto úvahy sa stal nedávny príklad z amerického Kansasu. Mestečko ! Topeka sa rozhodlo zmeniť svoje meno na Google. Po po! 9;iato&# 269;nom prekvapení som si prečítala, že sa mesto snaží vyhrať súťaž o bezplatný super rýchly internet prevádzkovaný rovnomennou spoločnosťou. 79-ročný starosta Bill Bunted rozhodnutie považoval za “zábavné” a ekonomicky výhodné – pretože tak rýchly internet by mesto vytiahol na úroveň technologicky vyspelého Silicon Valley. Pre túto súťaž sa mestské predstaviteľstvo rozhodlo obetovať pôvodný, indiánsky názov mesta. Myšlienka sa medzi obyvateľmi relatívne ujala a čoraz viac z nich si lokalitu na sociálnych sieťach už teraz premenúva na Google, Kansas. Nuž zdá sa, že Topekania nemajú s identitou žiadny problém, koniec koncov nie je to prvý krát, čo názov ustupuje poslednej mó! ;de. V roku 1998 sa názov mesta zmenil na Topikachu, odkazujúc na obľúbenú postavičku zo seriálu Pokémoni. Topeka v indiánskom jazyku kmeňa Kansa znamená “vykopávať dobré zemiaky”. Nuž Topikachu, Topeka alebo Google, môže sa stať, že raz do mesta príde nový a väčší investor a my sa dožijeme napríklad mesta Coca-Cola, McDonalds alebo Shell. A možno sa móda z Topeky rozšíri po celom svete, možno si raz niektorá firma kúpi Paríž alebo Londýn. Možno to bude naozaj “in” a ja si uvedomím, že môj sarkazmus je len pozostatkom neproduktívnej a dávno prežitej minulosti.

I have never been a fan of iPhone and all those Apple’s toys although I have always admired their cool look. On the other side I have never understood what is so “revolutionary” on them. People are freaking out every time this company comes with something new. And Apple Inc. has found millions of loyal customers around the world. Most of them were satisfied, until now. And that is the reason why Mark Papermaster, Apple executive, has to leave the company. Mark Papermaster worked at IBM for many years and when he decided in 2008 to move to Apple, it became central to a court case. Unfortunately, he didn’t stay with Apple for a long time. After the pro! blems with the device’s antenna, Papermaster responsible for hardware including this iPhone 4’s problematic antenna has to leave the company. As informed Apple spokesman Steve Dowling, Apple’s senior vice president of iPhone and iPod hardware engineering is leaving, but he refused to say whether Papermaster was fired or is leaving voluntarily. I would say that in company such as Apple, which is earning millions of dollars around the world, is any kind of mistake “mortal” and so there is no difference between voluntary leave and firing. Howsoever it happened we would probably get the answer neither from Downling, nor from Papermaster, as he could not be reached for comment at a phone number listed under his name. Bob Mansfield, Apple’s senior vice president of Macintosh hardware engineering, will be assuming all Papermaster’s responsibilities.

Papermaster opúšťa spoločnosť by Barbora Misakova

Nikdy som nebola veľkým fanúšikom Apple-u a všetkých tých jeho pretechnizovaných hračiek, aj keď na druhej strane som vždy obdivovala a asi aj budem ten ich jednoduchý a pritom cool dizajn. Čo je však na nich tak strašne revolučného? Zakaždým sa pýtam. Prečo začnú ľudia blbnúť vždy keď Apple príde na trh s niečím novým? Nevedno, no táto americká spoločnosť si vďaka svojim výrobkom veľmi rýchlo našla milióny verných zákazníkov po celom svete. Vä! 9;šina z nich, aspoň tak tvrdia, bola spokojná. Až doposiaľ. Vlna nespokojnosti, ktorá sa zdvihla kvôli nefungujúcej anténe na najnovších telefónoch iPhone 4, mala za následok odchod Marka Papermastera zo spoločnosti. Mark Papermaster pracoval po dlhé roky (presnejšie 26 rokov!) v IBM a keď sa v roku 2008 rozhodol, že spoločnosť opustí a pridá sa k tímu spoločnosti Apple, rozpútal sa priam divoký právnický spor. Táto právnická bitka však ako sa zdá bola zbytočná, nakoľko sa Papermaster v Apple-i príliš dlho neohrial. Po dvoch rokoch musel Papermaster, ktorý bol zodpovedný za hardware v jednotlivých Apple zariadeniach, vrátane toho v problematických telefónoch iPhone 4, skrátka spoločnosť opustiť. Informoval o tom hovorca spoločnosti ! Steve Dowling, ktorý však odmietol komentovať, ! či Papermaster odišiel zo spoločnosti dobrovoľne, alebo dostal padáka. Ak sa však jedná o spoločnosť, ako je Apple, ktorá zarába milióny dolárov po celom svete, akákoľvek malá chybička ohrozujúca tieto príjmy je pre človeka „smrteľnou“. Nemyslím si preto, že je dôležité, či išiel dobrovoľne alebo „nasilu“. Nech už to bolo akokoľvek, odpoveď na túto otázku nám nedá ani hovorca spoločnosti, ani samotný Papermaster, ktorý nedvíha svoj telefón. Všetku zodpovednosť prevezme za už bývalého pracovníka Bob Mansfield, starší viceprezident spoločnosti Apple pre hardwarové inžinierstvo Macintosh.

USA is getting back in business. After going through an economic depression, the country is finally recovering following the decay of the euro which made it easier to get a refinance for their credits or to buy goodies at a smaller price. Now, their attention was not focused only on real estate market, but also on other luxuries that were out of the question a year ago. On top of the preferences are the premium cable services and the pay-per-view. No matter how hard life is, the Americans can’t seem to get rid of worshiping the TV and talking on the phone all day long. Who had the most! to profit from these bad habits? Cable and satellite TV providers like Time Warner Cable Inc., DirecTV Inc. and Cablevision Systems Corp showed boosting profits from advertising even though they rose up taxes and an increase in demands for exclusive/expensive packages. People in USA prefer satellite TV nowadays over cable TV, thus it is no surprise that Time Warner Cable registered losses of over 100000 subscribers, while DirecTV had a record of subscribers that preferred deluxe packages and they were even willing to pay more as the taxes increased. Advertisers were also attracted in this vicious circle and gave in spending more for publicity. In spite of the fact that the situation might look bright for the US’ economy, in fact worries continue to exist as the total revenue for the month of July and the situation doesn’t seem to be very stable at this moment. In topul preferintelor sunt servicii premium de cablu si pay-per-view. Nu conteaza cat de grea este, americanii nu pot sa scap de inchinare TV si vorbind la telefon toata ziua. Cine a avut cel mai mult d! e a profita de aceste obiceiuri proaste? Televiziune prin cablu si furnizorii de televiziune prin satelit ca Time Warner Cable Inc, Inc DirecTV si Cablevision Systems Corp, a aratat cresterea profiturilor din publicitate, chiar daca acestea s-au ridicat taxele si o crestere a cererilor de exclusivitate / pachete costisitoare. Oamenii din SUA prefera TV prin satelit in zilele noastre peste TV prin cablu, prin urmare, nu este surprinzator ca, Time Warner Cable au inregistrat pierderi de peste 100.000 de abonati, in timp ce DirecTV a avut un record de abonati care prefera pachetele de lux si au fost chiar dispusi sa plateasca mai mult ca taxele au crescut . Agentii de publicitate au fost, de asemenea, atrase in acest cerc vicios si-a dat in mai multe cheltuieli pentru publicitate.
