Apple again: Am I prejudiced?
by Barbora Misakova

Well maybe I am prejudiced against Apple, but let me think. iPhone and iPod are cool stuff, I have to admit. All these Apple’s devices have incredible design, which I really like. Also iPad could be fine for some people, but somehow I don’t have a fancy for it. More and more I believe, that these devices are not making our lives better, but are making us lazier. Do we really need a computer-type-of-thing for reading newspapers or books? Do we really need mobile phones which will keep us connected all the time? And last but not least, do we really need to be so readable? New (but let’s not forget it is also free) application for Apple Inc.’s mega-sell! ing iPad called Flipboard is taking the random links that accumulate on Facebook or Twitter account and makes from them some kind of digital magazine. According to Apple, Flipboard is a marriage of the new media ethos where we all become news editors for our online contacts. That means that any kind of information you are interested in could be served to you easily and quickly by this Flipboard application, where the pages are laid out much like a newspaper or magazine. It looks nice again, and it is also cool when you can by a swipe of your finger flips simply open the next page on the iPad’s vivid screen. I don’t want to argue with Apple’s fans so “worn in” these apps, but my old romantic me still prefers “chaotic” self-looking and self-finding. I always find the best things when I am not looking for them.
