It is nothing uncommon that people working for some company are also fighting for it even beyond the firm’s borders. Bigger firm it is, bigger defense it has. The bright example is Apple Inc. People from the iWorld would never admit that devices such as iPhone, iPod or iPad are less than perfect – till the new ones iProducts are going on the market. But fighting for “our people” doesn’t stop here of course. Statements about other – not that good – products are even more frequent and most of them are usually sarcastic and ironic. Just like the one from Steve Jobs about the seven-inch screens on new Blackberries. Jim Balsillie from Ca! nada’s Research In Motion (RIM) said that many customers seem to be tired of being told what to think by Apple. This statement was straight reaction to Apple’s Steve Jobs’ statement in which he claimed the iPhone is outselling the Blackberry. More than that, he said that seven-inch tablet computers have no future, as they are “too big to compete with a smartphone and too small to compete with an iPad.” Balsillie fend Apple off easily when he said that for those who live outside of Apple’s distortion field, the seven-inch tablets would actually be a big portion of the market. And according to Job’s words, I would say, he realizes it as well. While Apple boasts about its 14.1 million sold iPhones during the quarter, RIM does leave behind neither. Whatever these numbers are, the firms satirizing each other should realize they would not be here without us – common (and silly) people willing to buy these devices…
