Social network service Facebook founded by the then Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg in 2004. Since then, the site has gained more than 500 million active users, which is a striking number. If you are not on Facebook, you practically don´t exist, that is the phrase that gives an evidence of how important the phenomenon of Facebook has become in people´s lives. The site, undoubtebly, was a revolution in how to stay in with your family, friends, and so on. However, recently, the social network site has been experiencing a massive exodus of users due to their privacy concerns. "It doesn't feel like Facebook is on the side of its users," said Peter Rojas, a well-known! blogger who created Web sites like Gizmodo and gdgt.com. "They're playing fast and loose with privacy settings." And he was not alone to quit. More and more people decides to delete their Facebook account. Since the Facebook went public in 2005, now more and more personal information is available for the whole world to see. In addition, the data on the site is being shared with partner companies like Microsoft, Pandora and others. The Facebook still claims the user privacy is the priority. It was repeated once again by the company´s director of market development at the GITEX information and communication technology exhibition in Dubai. "Privacy, I would say, is the number one most important thing for our company, and we're always listening to feedback," said Randi Zuckerberg, the sister of Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, Sunday. "We've recently rolled out a lot of new updates and controls to privacy. You can now, every single time you post something, you can con! trol who sees that. You can even pick certain people in your n! etwork, you can create lists," she said. Certainly, the Facebook will not collapse anytime soo, however, the users´ discontent could become a major obstacle in the company´s growth.
