The Internet Voting
by Daniela Simkova

The analysts made their predictions for the Iowa caucuses. According to the forecasts, the Iowa caucuses won by Sen. Barak Obama, were supposed to be won by Sen. Hillary Clinton. This fact assures us that analysts were mistaking again. Sen. Barak Obama won the Iowa caucuses thanks to the Internet voting. Obama was voted through the Internet, including votes from the frequently visited social networks as a Facebook or MySpace. This voting served out, because he became a first candidate who lead in the Internet metrics. The majority of his voters were mostly young people, young voters and women under the age 30. Sen. Barak Obama's victory in Iowa ensured that the consumed work on the Web had paid out. Although it raised question whether online voters could transfer into offline voters. New Hampshire caucuses indicate that online support is not enough. Barak Obama was 10 or even more percent behind Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire caucuses. Hillary Clinton benefited from the young voters as well as Barak Obama in Iowa but she did not manage the energizing through the Internet. The results in New Hampshire and Iowa show that both, Democrats and Republicans, are strong partners in the presidential race and chances are wide open. The campaign moves next to the South Carolina.
