Is there any meaningful guarantee?
by Lenka Filipova

It seems that the very common word "guarantee" is used frequently but without precise understanding. Best Buy's buy-online-pickup-store guarantee says that you will get $10 if the order is not given to you within one minute of their confirmation e-mail presentation. However, the discussion arises when it comes to legitimacy. Is it legal to offer such guarantee if the retailer controls the term? The guarantee does not include some products, exactly those that are cheaper than $10. And what is more, the time waiting in line is excluded surely too. If it promises quick entry in and out by the program, then the fault can not be attributed to the tailor, especially in the case of very famous holidays like Christmas or Easter. What is more, there seems to appear more and more clumsy parts of the guarantee when it comes to closer look at it. It is really interesting to find out what is exactly meant by "one minute" from Best Buy's point of view. "One minute" is started to be measured just after you firstly present your photo ID, then you buy your credit card and you identify yourself by confirmation e-mail or valid number to Best Buy. And yes, you are right; this is the exact time when the "one minute" is going to be timed. "Best Buy will track the time, which will end when you have the product in your possession." And here the question comes, what if the store will not make customer possible to present all of these just till the good is dispatched? It does not then correlate with the sense of guarantee, is not it? All in all, is there any meaning in providing guarantee except the fact that ensures you that you will never pay?
