Scientists and technologist fear that soon the artificial intelligence will soon overcome humans and movies with cyborgs and machines that think without human intervention will become true.At the Singularity summit from San Francisco, scientists gathered Sunday to discuss the future that seems so close to us: machines will become smarter than their makers, altering what it means to be human in ways almost impossible to conceive.They tried to warn that is the time to develop ethical guidelines to ensure that these new forms of super-powerful artificial intelligence are friendly to mankind.A robotics professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Rodney Brooks said "We and our world won't be us anymore," and that when it comes to computers "who is us and who is them is going to become a different sort of question."The co-founder of the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence from Palo Alto, Eliezer Yudkowsky fears that "a brilliant inventor creates a self-improving but amoral artificial intelligence that turns hostile."Vernor Vinge, a California mathematician and science-fiction author, invented the word "singularity" which describes a technological transformation.The director of the Singularity Institute, Ray Kurzweil has even set a date for that: 2029."Technology is heading here. It will predictably get to the point of making artificial intelligence," Yudkowsky said. "The mere fact that you cannot predict exactly when it will happen down to the day is no excuse for closing your eyes and refusing to think about it."
