The Internet’s Midas is in trouble and the magnitude of the trouble is still unknown. As usually, Google wished to get something innovative on the market, something bold and unique, but now everything turned against the Internet mogul. Its latest bold project called “Street Vie” is facing privacy issues as the cars that should have only taken streets’ photos, have also collected personal information which the official statement classified as payload data. In the last three years, the concern about Internet privacy has increased as the computer and the Internet have become vital part of our lives. ! Without any importance whether it is used for professional or personal activities, the Internet represents a threat to all privacy: from gathering statistics on users, to spreading spyware and various forms of bug exploitation. Facebook suffered severed public scrutiny for the lack of protection of the personal details exposed on the site and the public awareness on privacy, child safety, the use of advertising scripts, data mining, increased. As it is, Google might also face serious scrutiny after making public the fact that its cars collected consumers' personal information. Even though the information was gathered accidentally, the Internet’s Midas could still be held responsible by the federal wiretap law and if it would get away in USA, in other countries might still be subpoenaed. Street View’s array of cars has garnered WiFi data for the last four years in over 30 countries with the purpose on getting i! nformation on WiFi network's name and router numbers. However,! due to a computer piece which rendered the system faulty, all the data sent through wireless networks that don’t have the password protection option enabled.
