Apple all the time!
by Barbora Misakova
Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs is bragging again. A new line of iPods was announced on Wednesday. A new miniature iPod Nano has a touch screen! Just like the old one, new iPod Nano has a built-in FM tuner and is able to display photos. The news is there are not buttons on it – controls of playing, pausing and selecting music are made by the use of screen. It will be available in two versions – the 8 gigabyte for $149 or 16 gigabyte version for $179. As it wouldn’t be enough, Apple added also video-chat features to its iPod Touch, which are similar to the newest iPhone. These iPods Touch now have a front-facing camera which can be used for conducting video chats! with other iPod Touch or iPhone users. A camera can be used also for taking snapshots and recording videos. If you want that type of toy, prepare your wallets that $229 or even $399 will be gone. Also a new iPod Shuffle was introduced. This is the lowest-end music player in Apple’s line. It can speak the names of playlists and songs as before, but this $49 device brings back the square shape and buttons. But Apple started to interfere in the social networks’ sphere as well. Ping – Apple’s very own social network – is a feature based on the technology purchased last year from Lala.com. The Ping should serve for people using iTunes for “following” their friends, their favorite bands and musicians, what actually makes from it another useless social network. The truth is that Apple, again, is making a mountain out of a molehill.
