Comcast sales
by Claudia Sonea

Some might think that a federal investigation would be enough to scary investors and llingthey would be right, as the shares of Comcast Corp. are falling. Still, the nation's largest cable TV operator isn't giving up just because of the scandal created and is now selling 46 smaller cable systems serving 400,000 to 500,000 subscribers as a way to improve its efficiency. It is cheaper for a cable system to be concentrated geographically and the prosperity of the area is an important factor. Maine, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Mexico, Virginia, Georgia, West Virginia and California have cable systems and most of them were bought by Comcast which hopes in the nearby future to have the possibility to offer its' clients digital voice services, and others. In spite of rumors of Time Warner showing interest in buying Comcast's products, none of the two parts confirm it. Comcast already sold four dozen systems and according to Robert Serrano, an analyst at SNL Kagan in Monterey, the cable company would get somewhere around $4500 per subscribers. The federal investigation continues, even though there hasn't been solved the matter of Comcast restricting access to some file-sharing networks. After the problem was exposed in last October, the cable company tried to go on and be indifferent to all the trouble. Whether they will succeed or not is a matter depending on them and on the federal investigators. Don't go away, because there will be more news to come as the situation remains to be clarified. Enjoy your surfing!
