Seit 5 Jahren existiert der Betrieb nun und dies ist sein einziges Produkt, welches aber allem Anschein nach auf positive Wertung schätzt - Kunden wie Arnold Schwarzenegger, George Clooney und Will.i.am sind bereits an Land gezogen. 2006 wurden die ersten Prototypen mit dem Namen Tesla Roadster hergestellt und bis Ende August 2007 bereits 600 Stück verkauft.Das Vollelektrikauto wird auch für Nichtberühmtheiten erhältlich sein, die bereit sind 109 000 USD für den Spaß zu Zahlen (der Preis soll auf bis zu 12 400 USD heruntergedrückt werden, nachdem nächste Woche das erste offizielle Geschäft von Tesla in Los Angeles eröffnet wird). Und was nun die stolzen Besitzer mit diesem Auto bekommen? Einen Wagen der in weniger als 4 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 Km/h beschleunigen kann und eine Geschwindigkeit von bis zu 360 Km/h aufbringt. Man wäre also überrascht - in bereits 3,5 Stunden kann man die Batterie aufgebraucht haben, und das alles nur um unseren grünen Planeten zu schützen. Es ist definitiv ein Wunderauto, das ich persönlich sehr gerne hätte. Problematisch wird es natürlich beim Preis....

Yahoo has gone through a lot of troubles this year, but didn’t give up and held on firm. In the downward spiral of the shares’ prices on the Wall Street, Yahoo lost a lot and the only solution in January seemed to be a deal with Microsoft. In the last moment however, the CEO refused the $44.6 million buyout and turned to Google who offered a partnership on which the US regulators are still ruling.
Although, Yahoo has 500 million users worldwide, it has failed to get a fair profit from them. The latest move to make things more appealing and profitable in the same time is an "Open Strategy", according to which outside developers will build applications as additional to the original software. It will not only stir up things, but it will also lure online properties like Amazon and iTunes with its web pages. Moreover, the improvement of social aspects will attract new people and the existing users will spend more time on the advertising-supported pages. Yahoo services such like email, finance, sports, Flickr photo-sharing websites are available to be changed. Google, MySpace and other former adversaries also gave them a hand of help.
It is important to remember that the feedback of the users will eventually determine the future of the “Open Strategy”. If it works and there will be seen some benefic changes than it will definitely turn into a long lasting project. Don’t go away and you will find the latest news. Just, stay back and enjoy!

Up to now I have never heard of The Marshall Islands or the Federated States of Micronesia. They are both islands in the Pacific Ocean and although they have a small population, they appear to have been of great interest for the powerful countries of the world. Since 1788 The Marshall Island were under the assault of conquerors starting with the British ones and ending with the Americans. If the British, the Germans and the Japanese had a passive domination over the islands, the Americans use it to test its nuclear weapons and generated a series of controversies over the health of the inhabitants.
Nowadays, the islands managed to get partial independency, having their own government, but in association with US who is still using Kwajalein Atoll to test its missiles. Mainly it is like we Romanians would say, the same Mary but with a different hat, they are free as much as the powerful country allows them to be. Nevertheless, the situation is understandable from the point of view of the islands’ inhabitants who are confronting financial issues. In March last year, the Marshall Islands declared state of emergency due to the draught and in July this year, the problem was the energy shortages.
Taking in consideration everything I just told you, how would you perceive the decision of the islands government to spend 18 million dollars on a fiber optic cable? The 100 million dollar cable project has been in discussion for some time now, but the Marshall Islands delayed in accepting which I considered to be a wise decision. However, they finally accepted the project and made it officially on Friday. They will now have to come up with $2 million by November 21. There are very few advantages for the islands inhabitants, while for US this would save them a lot of money starting with the people sent to conduct the tests and still the island has to pay too. It is a clear example of how the US is supporting democracy. Enjoy?!

Breaking news, the scientists are trying to turn fiction into reality. For many years now, the SF movies took us into a world where impossible became possible and since then the scientists got ideas and tried to make real some of the wonderful devices seen in movies like Star Trek, Star Wars, Batman or James Bond. From sophisticated computers and robots all the way to cars, the science brought from our imagination right into the stores those wonder things. They now took up the challenge to create a fusion of an aircraft and a submarine. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) wants to develop a submersible aircraft.
The Pentagon used DARPA to get most of its revolutionary innovations and such an aircraft would be a must have for them and they could use it to implant clandestinely spies or militaries on hostile shores. The submersible aircraft would combine the best things from a plane, a boat and a submarine like speed and range, stealth, etc. Mainly this craft would have the following features: light like an airplane and heavy and resistant like a submarine. In only eight hours it should fly 1,000 nautical miles, ship 100 nautical miles, and travel underwater for only 12 more nautical miles.
In fact they are not the first one with this idea, but all the experiments failed. Why does DARPA think will succeed where everyone else failed? Because no one stops them to do so and until now they have been fortunate enough to record only successes. Good luck to them and we are looking forward to see it happening.

Acum au luat in primire provocarea de a crea o fuziune intre un avion si un submarine. Agnetia de Proiecte de Cercetare de Aparare (PCA) doresc a construi un aparat de zbor cu proprietati de submarin.
Pentagonul a folosit PCA pentru a-si crea cele mai revolutionare inovatii ale sale si un astfel de aparat ar fi mai mult decat binevenit si l-ar putea folosi pentru a infiltra spioni si forte armate pe maluri ostile. Avionul-submarin ar trebui sa combine cele mai bune proprietati de la avion, barca si submarin precum viteza si raza de actiune, rezistenta, etc. In principal acest aparat minune ar trebui sa aiba urmatoarele trasaturi: usor precum un avion si greu si rezistent precum un submarin. In doar opt ore ar treui sa zboare 1,000 de mile nautice, sa mearga pe apa 100 de mile nautice si sub apa ince 12 mile nautice.
De fapt ei nu sunt primii care vin cu aceasta idée, dar toate experimentele de pana acum au esuat. De ce crede PCA ca va reusi acolo unde altii au dat gres? Pentru ca nimeni nu-I opreste sa creada astfel de lucruri si pana acum au fost suficient de norocosi sa inregistreze numai succese in tot ce au facut. CBS sign deal with Youtube by Claudia Sonea

New from YouTube: legal full-length TV shows! I am stressing the word legal because as many of you already know there aren’t too many legal videos on Youtube, except for those home-made, thus the suit for infringement it is no surprise. I am, however, surprise that only Viacom Inc went against the largest video-sharing Website.
Returning to the subject announced on Friday, Youtube which is owned by Google has signed a deal with CBS Corp and it is negotiating with other TV networks for a similar deal. According to the partnership TV shows like "Star Trek," "Young and the Restless" and "Beverly Hills 90210 will become available on the largest video-sharing Website that in spite of the big advantage of 330 million users, it is still looking to match in the competition with Hulu. You might say that Hulu has the advantage of running the latest shows from News Corp's Fox networks, NBC and CBS, but that wouldn’t matter for addicted Internet watchers who have a preference for older videos and now can enjoy full-length shows on Youtube- a project experimented with Time Warner Inc's HBO and CBS's Showtime cable networks for a while now.
All in all, Youtube’s goal was not only to expand from the usual 10 minutes video and enhance viewers’ experience, but to attract advertisers too. Google is well-known for getting most of its revenue from advertising; therefore this giant Website it acquired in 2006 should be update for that purpose. Adding professional programming is bound to get reluctant advertisers and become meaningful on the search advertising leader's market. The suit is still hanging above its head and the need to become more appealing to advertisers also determined YouTube to sell music and video games, now it is only a question of time until all the efforts prove either useful or in vain.

Amandoua sunt insule din Oceanul Pacific si desi au o populatie mica au reprezentat un mare interes pentru tarile mai puternice ale lumii. Inca din 1788 Insulele Marshall au fost sub asaltul cuceritorilor incepand cu englezii si terminand cu americanii. Daca englezii, nemtii si japonezii au dominat in mod pasnic insulele, americanii le-au folosit ca si centru de testare al armelor nucleare generand o serie de controverse asupra sanatatii locuitorilor.
In present insulele au reusit sa dobandeasca o independenta partiala, avand propriul guvernamant, dar in asociatie cu SUA care inca foloseste Kwajalein Atoll pentru a-si testa rachetele. In principiu e cum am spune noi romanii, aceeasi Marie, alta palarie. Totusi trebuie sa intelegem locuitorii insulelor deoarece se confrunta su greutati financiare si nu pot sa se desprinda de tara dominatoare. Doar in martie anul trecut a fost declarata stare de urgenta din cauza secetei, in vreme ce anul acesta in iulie a fost declansata datorita penelor de current.
Luand in considerare tot ce tocmai v-am prezentat, cum percepeti decizia Guvernului insulelor de a cheltui 18 milioane de dolari pe cablu cu fibra optica? Proiectul cablului de 100 de milioane de dolari a fost adus in discutie acum multa vreme insa Insulele Marshall au intarziat sa-l accepte ceea ce eu consider a fi fost o decizie inteleapta. Totusi vineri au declar ca sunt de accord cu el si acum trebuie sa vina cu doua milioane de dolari pana pe 21 noiembrie. Avatajele pe care insulele le-ar putea obtine sunt mici, pe de alta parte SUA ar economisi o gramada de bani incepand cu cei pe care i-ar fi cheltuit cu personalul ce-l trimitea pentru teste, insa si Insulele Marshall trebuie sa plateasca. Cel mai clar exemplu de cum sprijina SUA democratia.

Android versus Symbian by Barbora Misakova

In this summer Nokia came with an idea to buy remaining shares in UK-based smartphone software maker Symbian. Symbian software is used in two-thirds of smartphones, but the problem is, that Google’s Android can be in a very short time its real rival. For example Apple’s iPhone is based on this Google’s software and still more new categories of phones too. That’s why it is normal “that Nokia is worried by the rise of lower-cost operating systems from Google Android and LiMo Foundation.” said analyst Neil Mawston from Strategy Analytics. What is the Android? It is new operating system for mobile phones which contains lot of applications which are helpful in communication. Applications such as Google Mail, Google Talk, Calendar, YouTube or Google maps are platitude. Interesting application is that one which can by using phone camera read the bar code of some product, what can be really handy sometimes. Of course Google’s Android will come with others and I would say more interesting applications, which can prepare really hard times for Nokia Symbian software.

But Nokia’s Executive Vice President for Devices Kai Oistamo is quite optimistic. As he said on a conference of Symbian partners and developers “I strongly believe an open ecosystem wins over an ecosystem run by a captain.” As he added, collaboration is the key. Nokia hopes that making the platform freely available to developers will encourage them to build innovative applications and so help it win back market share. Even though Nokia has sold more than 180 million Symbian smartphones, the power of new technology from Google, Apple and RIM is still growing up and so threatening the position of Symbian on the market. If the $410 million investment will be the right step and create a good field for competition is still a question. We have to wait on the answer till June 2010 when Nokia expects to release the first unified Symbian Foundation software and introduce its brand new platform.

Heart – muscular organ responsible for pumping blood through the blood vessels. It’s a main or better say one of the most important suppliers of oxygen for our body. This extra ordinary organ – not only by its functions but also by its shape and importance in general was the object of interest of healers, doctors and all people around the world. Heart was mystical part of our body, like a little living creature in our chest responsible for the fact that we are living. This was a reason why also philosophers, poets and artists were so magically captivated by it. Heart was like some kind of magical instrument – difficult to understand it clearly, but too outstanding just to let it be. As years were passing by people knew more and more about this extraordinary organ, getting closer to its essence. Also cardiology – the branch of internal medicine dealing with disorders of the heart and blood vessels was closer to the answer on the most important questions such as: How does our heart works? How to protect it and heal this precious organ?

Modern surgery these days knows the answers and it is still getting closer to full understanding of heart. The three doctors from the Heart Hospital in London were not satisfied with the 2-dimensional heart model – it was not able to provide important information anymore. It was quite complicated to teach about three-dimensional object from its only two-dimensional model. So they decided to create better model of heart, which could remove all remaining doubts in cardiology. Today we have model which resemble real heart. Four chambers beating in the same asymmetrical rhythm! British doctors made with no doubt one of the most useful models in human surgery. The model of heart will be helpful in teaching students and training them. Looking and working with a model, which has the same parameters as the real heart will help them to learn how to perform for example complicated ultrasound scan of the heart. The model will be more than handy also during the surgeries – it will enable to provide better care of patients. This model was based on surgical data and also on knowledge of surgeons themselves who are “fixing” hearts everyday. Although it can sounds weird and like some kind of sci-fi story we are closer to the truth again. To the truth of life!

Fiber-optic OECD Survey by Silvia Szarkova

Organization of economical co-operation and development, worldwide known rather than OECD, has recently released a broadband kind of study, which data showed the fiber- optic connections in single countries of the organization. The result of it is not very surprising, considering the most high-tech countries of the world the most connected with fiber-optic cable.

Fiber-optic is the latest hit in connecting to the Internet with super-fast links. According to the study released by OECD in Amsterdam, Korea and Japan are the winners. Maybe not too much surprising for these two technical countries, which outstand of all Asian tigers countries.

The statistics showed that Korea had 12.2 fiber-optic connections per 100 inhabitants in June compared to previous level of 10.4 percent during last survey in December of 2007. Then there is still a big rate of other kinds of connection: 10.5 percent through cable TV networks and 8.4 using DSL technology.

OECD economist Taylor Reynolds says: "It's a big shift. There's a shift in the industry towards fibre and we're seeing it first in Korea and Japan, " valuing the importance of fiber- optic connection in new millenium.

Japan does not hasitate. Fibre connection is 10.2 percent out of 100 inhabitants, DSL is 9.6 percent and cable is only 3.1 percent. After Korea and Japan there is a huge gap, possibly followed just by Sweden with 6 fibre-optic broadband connections. But, it is interesting to see that Korea’s single fibre penetration is higher than that the summary of five OECD countries: Greece, Poland, the Slovak republic, Turkey and Mexico.

It is true! Scientists achieved a big mile that can help towards the future! It is called bucky paper and it looks like an ordinary carbon paper, just like a sheet from tree, but in fact, it could be called a new wonder. Bucky paper can change the way every product is done, from cars, through screens to planes.

Bucky paper is 10 times lighter than steel, but amazingly 500 times stronger, when it is stacked together and pressed to a component. In addition, it disperses heat like steel and conducts electricity like cooper or even silicon, so it has completely different features to other components, but from its designing, there are big plans with it.

Big hopes have been put into the nanotechnology, but this invention could revolutionize the future production. Bucky paper is a one of the derivates of ultra-tiny cylinders known as carbon nanotubes. The idea of practical use of this technology has been here for few years, but just now can turn to a reality. Researchers at Florida State University say they have made an important progress.

This derivate is made of tube-shaped carbon molecules that are 50,000 times thinner than a human hair. It could eventually be used as a new material for light, energy-saving aircrafts and automobiles, for stronger computers, improved TV screens and other kind of screens and when commercialized also to many other products.

"If this thing goes into production, this very well could be a very, very game-changing or revolutionary technology to the aerospace business," said Les Kramer, chief technologist for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, which is helping the Florida State research.

In June of this year Yahoo announced a partnership with its rival Google under which the former will sell some of its online advertisements displayed alongside search results on its sites to Google. Yahoo searched to increase its revenue by approximately $800 million in the first year, but the move would also give Google more power in the market. "We see this as a good, open, flexible deal and (one that) helps Yahoo be strengthened as a good longer-term competitor," Chief Executive Jerry Yang said back then. But some saw other motives. "They're using this as a tool to boost short-term cash flow," said Canaccord Adams analyst Colin Gillis. "They're trying to keep the wolves at bay." However, both companies were not hasty about setting the partnership into motion and let the Justice Department review the deal. "We believe, given that it's a commercial agreement, there's not formal regulatory approval required,” Yang said. "We agreed with the Department of Justice on a voluntary basis to have them review this deal." The thing is that Google Inc. is still in talks with the Justice Department and apparently will be in the near future as Google Inc. You can currently find such public suites in Taj Hotels, which is a worldwide chain of luxury hotels and resorts and part of Tata Group, one of India´s largest business conglomerates, also in Boston, London, Santa Clara in California. The use of the conferencing rooms will be charged on an hourly basis, so that those of us who cannot afford to spend from $34,000 to $300,000 on these wonders of modern communications technology will pay from $299 to $899 an hour according to the size of the room. The largest of them can take 18 people. By the end of the year the company plans to have another 100 rooms available to the customers including in Pierre Hotel in New York. It is a great advantage also for businesses, because it brings the chance to use TelePresence conferencing for those companies which do not use it often enough to justify building its own suite. I would make this label a bit wider by saying that it is also a century of information (or better say easy available information?). You bought new digital camera and took it on holidays on Canary Islands. You put this pictures on you internet photo album and just send the link to it to your friends and other family members – it’s easier than to write long mail and putting every picture as attachment. But the last thing you are thinking about is the security. You don’t think about the safety of your privacy, safety of information about you and your close relatives. Of course who would ever think, that some stranger could be interested in your holiday pictures. But this possibility shouldn’t be underrated! Pictures can say a lot about you – who you are, where do you live or work, and sometimes they can tell a lot also about your income. And there are still more and more Peeping Toms!

Tax payers security endangered by Silvia Szarkova

Unbelievable 2 billion dollars will cost two new IRS computer systems, of course, paid by those of us who pay taxes (of course, all of us pay taxes, just to keep you alive!). Tax payers will so buy the new computer system, but this will be put to the service despite known troubles with it- on Thursday, report by the Treasury watchdog revealed some complication with it- security and privacy unprotection against outside eventually attacks can cause some sever problems.

The inconvenience might be caused by failing Internal Revenue Service officials who did not ensure the identified weaknesses, although they had been addresses before putting the new system into use, said the office of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. Inspector General J. Russell George said it is trouble full situation and the fact that IRS was aware of it and self-identified these weaknesses is even sadder.

But according to the statement, the security of tax payers’ data is primary importance above all and from now it is taking several security steps to encourage their declaration of safeguards. They have implemented many of addressed recommendation to improve security. The report stressed that no tax payer data has been harmed.

The report focused on the Customer Account Data Engine and on the Account Management Service system. The first one should provide managing all tax payers´ accounts and is expected to cost more than 1 billion dollars. The second one should provide faster and improved access by employees to the account data, and is priced more than 700 million dollars. Both systems are gradually being put into use and will be developed and further maintained also in the future.
