The Internet is occupying an important place in people’s lives nowadays. More and more people are discovering the benefits of surfing the web for information, holiday rentals, shopping and even find true love. Among the top choices for Internet users are the social sites that give the possibility to share pictures, music, thoughts, and videos with friends and family, as well as to make new friends. Facebook holds the flag of leadership among the social sites. Yet, the luck of getting over 500 million users attracted the misfortune of being target for criticism. Because there was no fault at the soci! al site that offers quality time to users’, the charge brought was that the privacy is neglected and that a safer system should be introduced. In fact when we created an account, there was no one forcing us to write our personal information, nor to fill in accurate personal coordinates and attach our real picture. It was our option to make our life public and the amount of personal information shared depended on us. Nonetheless, privacy is a serious matter and Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO, give a lot of importance to users’ desires and suggestions. Therefore, after months of feedbacks coming from all over the world, they came up with a privacy settings page that will reduce significantly the information that is visible to everyone. That is more of a waste of time as there is already the option to make yourself visible only to friends/family and you can also control what is displayed on your page. What is, however, e! xtremely useful is that third parties like the groups joined a! nd the a pplications added will no longer have access to our information. The changes brought Zuckerberg praises not only from users, but also from politicians that were harshly criticizing the service not long ago. It is a step towards a better privacy policy of the Internet sites that require opening an account.

Apple still rejoices over its recent success. After years of struggle to get an important competitor on the computer market, Steve Jobs’ company managed to surpass Microsoft in market capitalization. However, there is premature to savor the victory as in sales the leader is still Microsoft. A company that a few years back was on the verge of bankruptcy reinvented its core product and instead of focusing on computers, Apple turned to a very fertile and poorly explored: smartphones. In fact Steve Jobs returned took the lead in 1996 and struggled to get the company back on tracks. After receiving help f! rom Microsoft, Apple succeeded in changing its targets and become number one in the digital music sector with the iPod and an important mobile phone manufacturer. Yet, the computer market is still a hill to be conquered by Apple and its Macs. The stock market priced Apple more as there is the prospect that mobile technologies will become more important than computers, but the reality is that no iPad or iPhone will be ever good enough to replace the computer in professional use. For projects, in business and other areas where the computers is a heavily used tool, there is no need for smaller, lighter or fancier, thus Apple will not surpass Microsoft in the nearby future as far as sales are concerned. The leadership on the mobile phone industry is frail and Apple might lose this position too as Google ‘s operating system for its own cell phone sold better than the iPhone. Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and many other, it's a fact that social networking has overwhelmed Western civilization.For many it is a great chance to meet, communicate and stay tuned with friends or relatives. For many it is perfect tool to inform about everything with literally no costs. Many groups and minorities have found their place or a shelter on social networks and extend their agenda further. Ok, we have mentioned few advantages, but social networking should be labeled an “addiction”, because if not used by matured user, it can be really destructive. Or being watched or the ! user can simply turn into moneymaking sheep. This is surely a case of the most popular social network Facebook. For its creator Mark Zuckerberg it is a lifetime deal. He has already become a billionaire.But last months he changed something and it didn't work well. To be more precise, it went all wrong. You all have noticed changed profile and security preferencies of it. Suddenly they were hidden or changed that way you wouldn't even noticed. Private profiles have become public without any notification. Groups that are overwhelming network are just perfect tool how to suck personal data from profiles and they can change their platformas. For instance a group called “win your iPhone”has turned into “we support Jiri Paroubek” (Jiri Paroubek is an unpopular politician especially among young people in Czech republic). Most of users are definitely not checking the privacy level of each post or photo. Anyway they all can be used by Facebook and be offered ! to the third part. Facebook is making money on your pictures o! r posts. So while you communicate with your “friends”, anything can be stolen from your profile. Sadly this is a simple fact. Many customers don't even notice that and most of them don't care about their privacy, but there were still huge groups who stood against such manners. And this time Zuckerberg admitted they were right. But despite this statement, Facebook creator didn't specify any further information leading into improvement. Things could go even worse, after influential blogger Robert Scoble accused that the companu started to shut down the accounts of users who dared to criticise the site. Facebook officially denied that statement.

The competition on the computer market is tight nowadays. Smaller companies like Sony, Dell, Hewlett-Packard are coming from behind challenging the industry giants like Microsoft and Apple. In fact back in the 1980s Apple was just a small company into the consumer electronics market who dared to compete with IBM and Microsoft and look where it is now: ahead of Microsoft in total value. It was just a matter of time for Apple to take the lead. With constant innovations in the computer and smartphones industry, the American multinational corporation that was one step to going bankrupt in 1980s, wa! s bound to surpass Microsoft. However, the fact that it managed to be better in market capitalization is still not the same with being better sold than Microsoft. Windows computers are still largely preferred by computer users all over the world. Therefore, Apple cannot sit back and relax as tables can turn in no time. At the WWDC 2010 everyone expects for a new iPhone that will be introduced by Steve Job himself. In the meantime, Microsoft investors might wake up and feel the awful taste of losing top position. If the company won’t launch something new, something catchy on the market, it will soon lose its leadership in sales too. Maybe the new wave of managerial changes (J. Allard and Robbie Bach left the company) is part of a plan to innovate the Xbox business and Windows mobile group. It will be hard to get back on track after going through court trials with the U.S. Department of Justice and the European Commission, ! after wasting time on trying to purchase Yahoo and compete on ! so many. Whether it will be triumphant in renovating itself, it remains to be seen.

Nuž v sociálnych sieťach máte úžasnú možnosť oveľa interaktívnejšie komunikovať s priateľmi alebo známymi. Pre mnohých je to skvelý spôsob ako o svojich postojoch a projektoch oboznamovať druhých. Množstvo skupín a minorít, ktoré sa nedostali do bež! ných mediálnych kanálov si svoje zázemie vybudovali tu. A celkom zadarmo.Sociálne siete sú však predovšetkým biznis. Nielenže pohlcujú neúmerné množstvo času nezrelých užívateľov, ale ich bezpečnostné nastavenia sú častokrát len provizórne a teda únik osobných informácií je bežnou praktikou. Čo môže byť lepšie pre reklamné agentúry, prieskumné agentúry a bohviečo ešte? Užívateľ sa častokrát úplne nevedomky, pasívne stáva akousi zarábajúcou ovcou.Hovoríme celkom iste o prípade najpopulárnejšej sociálnej siete na svete – Facebook. Jej vynálezca si už zabezpečil svoj dôchodok, v priebehu niekoľkých rokov, čo Facebook pôsobí sa stal miliardárom. Al! e Facebook sa v poslednom čase zmenil. Asi ste si vš! imli, &# 382;e vzhľad profilu sa zmenil, takisto tie bezpečnostné nastavenia, akoby sa vnorili pod rôzne iné nastavenia. Množstvo z nich je veľmi dômyselne ukrytých, preto nepozornému užívateľovi úplne unikne nastavenie verejnosti svojej novej fotografie či komentára. A ak si to nevšimne, všetky aktivity, ktoré spraví sú de facto viditeľné, použiteľné a predateľné. A Facebook sa ani nesnažil na tieto zmeny upozorniť. Facebook akoby ovládli rôzne viac či menej zmysluplné skupiny, ktoré neraz v priebehu pár dní získajú niekoľkotisíc fanúšikov – avšak občas sa stane, že úplne zmenia svoj charakter. Na príklad azda len spomeniem skupinu “vyhraj iPhone”, ktorá sa časom zmenila na “Podporuje Paroubka” (Jiř! 7; Paroubek je svojský český politik výrazne nepopulárny medzi mladými ľudmi). Na Facebooku platí, že všetko z vášho profilu môže byť ukradnuté – či už vaša identita, ktorá podporuje to či ono, váš komentár alebo fotka, ktorá sa objaví niekde na úplne divnej stránke. Facebook tieto veci predáva. Ale mnohým, akoby to nevadilo. Mnohí o tom zasa nevedia, aj keď tušia. Proti poslednej zmene profilov a bezpečnostných nastavení sa však v Amerike zdvihla vlna odporu, natoľko silná, že Mark Zuckerberg musel verejne priznať, že dochádzalo k úniku osobných údajov a tieto boli predávané rôznym agentúram.Kým však Zuckerberg priznal jedno, vplyvný americký blogger Robert Scoble ho obvinil, že spoločnos! 57; začala s likvidáciou profilu užívate&#! 318;ov, ktorí sa “odvážili” novú politiku “deravého informačného sita” kritizovať. Spoločnosť však túto informáciu odmietla.

Competitia pe piata de calculatoare este stransa in zilele noastre. Companii mai mici precum Sony, Dell, Hewlett-Packard vin din urma si reprezinta o provocare tot mai mare pentru titanii din industrie precum Microsoft si Apple. De fapt, in anii ‘80, Apple a fost doar o mica firma pe piata produselor electronice de consum care a indraznit sa concureze cu IBM si Microsoft si uite unde este acum: inaintea lui Microsoft ca valoarea totala. A fost doar o chestiune de timp pentru ca Apple sa preia conducerea. Cu inovatii constante pe piate de calculatoare si smartphone-uri, corporatia americana multinationala, care a fost la un pas! faliment in 1980, era predestinata sa depaseasca Microsoft. Cu toate acestea, faptul ca a reusit sa fie mai bine capitalizata pe piata nu este acelasi lucru cu a fi mai bine vanduta decat Microsoft. Computerele cu sistem de operare Windows sunt inca in mare masura preferate de catre utilizatorii de computere din intreaga lume. Prin urmare, Apple nu poate inca sa se relaxeze pentru ca roata se poate intoarce in orice momente. La WWDC 2010 toata lumea asteapta lansarea unui nou iPhone, care va fi prezentat de catre Steve Jobs insusi. In acelasi timp, investitorii Microsoft ar putea sa se trezeasca si sa simta gustul groaznic de a pierde pozitia de top. In cazul in care compania nu va lansa ceva nou, care sa epateze pe piata, ea isi va pierde in curand pozitia de lider si in vanzari. Poate ca noul val de schimbari manageriale (J. Allard si Robbie Bach, au parasit compania) face parte dintr-un plan de a inova afacerea Xbox si grupul ! Windows Mobile. Ii va fi greu sa isi revina in competitie, dup! a ce a t recut prin procesele cu Departamentul de Justitie al SUA si Comisia Europeana, dupa ce a pierdut timpul in incercarea de a cumpara Yahoo si sa concureze pe atat de multe fronturi. Pokiaľ sa na trhu objaví produkt, je len otázkou času, kedy sa objavia jeho komerční konkurenti. Táto situácia azda nastala v prípade pobláznenia menom iPad. Slovíčko azda volím úmyselne, pretože hoci firma Dell ponúkla zákazníkom prístroj tabletového typu, jeho plná rivalita nie je namieste. Streak, ako ho firma pomenovala je tablet, ktorý de facto zastupuje mobilný telefón a má niečo z funkcií počítača. Streak operuje na operačnom systéme Android, ktorý vyvinula firma Google. Android je systém bežne ! využívaný radou takzvaných “smartphones”. Streak má 5 palcový displej (takmer o polovicu menší v porovnaní s 9,7 palcovým iPadom). Na rozdiel od iPad-u, ktorý nie je kompatibilný s ostatnými zariadeniami (okrem Blue tooth, wifi), sa do Streaku dá vložiť externá pamätová karta.Výkonný riaditeľ spoločnosti Michael Dell vyjadril očakávanie, že Streak by mohol konkurovať spomínanému rivalovi firmy Apple. Analytici o tom však pochybujú. Podľa analytika z firmy IDC Willa Stofegu je očakávanie, že Dell predá milión Streakov, viac než “vysokým očakávaním. Podľa analytika spoločnosti Forrester bude najväčšou nevýhodou Streaku, softwerová nevybavenosť Dell-u. iPad na porovnanie môže využívať a&#! 382; 200 000 aplikácií z Applestore. Bližš! ie detai ly o Streaku však neboli špecifikované.Je však isté, že na britský trh sa produkt dostane na budúci mesiac a do Ameriky začiatkom leta. Streak bude možné kúpiť cez mobilného operátora O2, ktorý je súčasťou španielskej Telefoniky a spoločnosti Carpone Warehouse. Spoločnosť Dell sa rýchlym uvedením tabletu snaží reagovať na svoje straty. Pred pár mesiacmi totiž stratila pozíciu tretieho najväčšiehosvetového výrobcu počítačov a podľa niektorých zdrojov poruchovosť jej výrobkov dosahuje takmer 22 percent.

Na verejnosť sa dostali správy o tom, že Ministerstvo spravodlivosti USA spustilo vyšetrovanie týkajúce sa obchodných taktík spoločnosti Apple Inc, konkrétne sprostredkovania hudby prostredníctvom internetu. Zdá sa, že dôvodom sú rozpory medzi Apple a Amazon.com. Napriek tomu, že Apple v súčasnosti zastáva silnú pozíciu na trhu, zdá sa, že sa cítil ohrozený internetovým MP3 obchodom firmy Amazon. Podľa ľudí z veľkých hudobných spoločností na nich Apple, ktorý je vo svete považovaný za jednu ! z najkreatívnejších a najinovatívnejších spoločností, už dlhší čas vyvíjal značný nátlak. Tieto sťažnosti dostali reálne kontúry po tom, čo ju na svojich stránkach spracoval časopis Billboard. Amazon ponúkol hudobným vydavateľstvám možnosť spropagovať ich najnovšie pesničky, ktoré ešte neboli oficiálne vydané prostredníctvom svojej stránky MP3 Daily Deal. Výmenou za to by Amazon získal exkluzívne právo predávať počas jedného dňa ešte nevydané pesničky na svojich stránkach. Podľa časopisu Billboard Apple naopak žiadal aby hudobné spoločnosti nespolupracovali. Pokiaľ tak niekto urobil Apple mu odoprel marketingovú podporu na stránkach iTunes. „Svoju energiu teraz investujú do! toho, aby si ustrážili to čo už majú! , a nie do vylepšovania celej tej mašinérie,“ okomentoval situáciu predstaviteľ jednej z popredných nahrávacích spoločností. Apple je už v centre pozornosti vládnej agentúry USA Federal Trade Commission a to kvôli sťažnostiam zo strany spoločnosti Abdobe, ktorá neschvaľuje, že Apple sa rozhodol zachovať exkluzivitu tvorby aplikácií pre operačný systém iPhone OS. Abdobe reagoval i spustením reklamnej kampane. „Žiadna spoločnosť – odhliadnuc od toho aká je veľká či kreatívna – by nemala diktovať čo môžete vytvoriť, ako to môžete vytvoriť, alebo obmedzovať vaše možnosti na sieti,“ píše sa v liste od zakladateľov Abdobe Chucka Geschkeho a Johna Warnocka.

News reached the public that the US Department of Justice launches an inquiry over Apple´s business tactics concerning online music sales. Apparently, the reason behind all this is the conflict between Apple Inc and Amazon.com. Although Apple´s position on the market is rather unshakable it is possible it felt threatened by Amazon´s MP3 store. According to people from big music labels Apple, which is admired all over the world as one of the most creative and innovative companies, has been putting quite a lot of pressure on them for some time now. However, as soon as the reports by the trade magazine Billboard reached the public the issue became a real thing.! Amazon offered the music labels to have some of their brand new songs that has not been yet released promoted through their MP3 Daily Deal web site in exchange for an exclusive right to sell these songs before their wider release. As Billboard informed, Apple on the other hand was asking the music industry folks not to cooperate with the online sales company on this one. Apple later refused the market support on iTunes for those who did. "They are . . . diverting their energy from 'let's make this machine better' to 'let's protect what we got,' " said a major-label executive about the situation. Apple is already in the center of the attention of the Federal Trade Commission due to complaints by Abdobe that has been angered by Apple´s decision to keep creation of iPhone OS applications exclusive. Abdobe, irritated by Apple´s ruling out third party compilers launched an ad campaign against the move. "No company—no matter how big or how creative—should d! ictate what you can create, how you create it, or what you can! experie nce on the web," reads letters by Abdobe´s founders Chuck Geschke and John Warnock.

Dell's Streak possibly to rival Apple's iPad. by Milota Sidorova

It was just a matter of time for markets to see rivals of new coming iPad. This time, Dell is launching its tablet like device called Streak. Bu so far, there's been not much description available. So far, we've known that it had five inch screen, operates on Google's Android system and would be offered via O2, part of Spain Telefonica and Carphone Warehouse. Android is currently the system used by increasing number of smartphones. That way Streak becomes more compatible than iPad.Streak is supposed to enter British market next month and American customers will see it this summer. Although Dell's Chief Executive Michael Dell hopes that Streak can attack amazing iPad sales, ! most of analysts don't expect so. The company expects to sell more up to million pieces, but this is certainly “a tall order”, said Will Stofega, an analyst from IDC.Streak is able to substitute mobile phone and has certain PC features. It is probably having wifi. But it is havingan external memory slot, so compared to iPad, it is more interactive with information environment. But the major disadvantage could be “lack of skill in software”, suggested Forrester analyst Charles Golvin. Apple, for instance runs around 200,000 applications, although only few of them actually make sence and have some importance. Dell is currently trying to catch up to its rivals, since it has fallen from being the third largest PC maker past months.Finally, although Streak doesn't seem to be full time rival of iPad, it can be a good supplement on the market.

Facebook CEO Faces Accusations Of Securities Fraud by Magdalena Rosova

Facebook has been recently criticized for lack of privacy protection. The pressure forced Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg to breake his silence and promise that users of his social networking site will have more control over their personal information. Mark Zuckerberg published his statement in the Washington Post on Monday where he announced that his company would take inevitable steps to improve the security and protect the privacy of Facebook's users. Zuckerberg, 26-year-old billionaire, admitted that some decisions of the company had evidently failed. Facebook consists primaly of personal information. It is first time Zuckerberg has publicly admittet that Facebook ma! y have problems with the network's privacy settings. Both the New York Times and the Guardian criticized Facebook for not only lack of privacy protection but also for not respecting individual privacy. Today, Facebook has about 500 million users. At its annual conference Zuckerberg announced new rules which made most of the personal information of the users more easy to access. There is possibility to hide the information, but it is way more complicated that before. The new rules have naturally caused anger in public and drove attention of medias. Moreover, the Wall Street Journal revealed that Facebook has sold users' profiles to advertising agencies. Finally, blogger Robert Scoble reported that Facebook shut down the account of people who criticised the site. The company denied the accusation. All these attacks created pressure on the company and finally made Zuckerberg to promptly react and break the silence. In his response he promised more security and privac! y to its users.

Viac ako skutočnosť, že Apple Inc musí čeliť obvineniam z porušovania protimonopolného zákona ma prekvapuje fakt, že od 3. apríla si kúpilo iPad až 1 milión užívateľov! Kým ja som prekvapená (resp. trošku zaskočená), iní sú asi skôr iritovaní (ba možno i trošku závistliví) ďalším úspechom Apple-u. Jedným z neprajníkov je s určitosťou spoločnosť Adobe Systems Inc, ktorá si myslí, že Apple zámerne porušuje protimonopolný zákon. Apple Inc pož! ;aduje, aby na aplikácie iPadov a iPhoneov boli použité len vlastné programové nástroje Apple. To sa samozrejme spoločnosti Adobe nepáči, pretože ich software Flash používaný predovšetkým pri tvorbe interaktívnych animácií, prezentácii a hier, by sa podľa nich hodil veľmi dobre aj pre iPhone telefóny či Apple novinku iPad. To si však spoločnosť Apple nemyslí. Práve naopak, Flash považuje za zbytočného „žrúta“ batérie a odmieta akékoľvek jeho použitie vo svojich zariadeniach. Ide však naozaj o výkonnosť alebo je za tým len boj dvoch chamtivcov? Keď predáte viac ako 50 miliónov telefónov za obdobie troch rokov a 1 milión iPadov v priebehu jediného mesiaca, nie je sa čomu čudovať ak sa niekto (chamtivý) ozve! Fede! rálna obchodná komisia a Ministerstvo spravodlivosti! , ktor&# 233; majú na starosti presadzovanie protimonopolného zákona zatiaľ neučinili žiadne rozhodnutie, ale bývalý riaditeľ pre politiku Federálnej obchodnej komisie si myslí, že to čo Apple robí je „jasne protikonkurenčné“. Ministerstvo spravodlivosti a súčasné vedenie FOK sa zatiaľ odmietli k prípadu vyjadriť, čo ma privádza k otázke: ide naozaj o porušovanie zákona alebo len o starú vojnu, ktorá teraz prepukla na verejnosť? Steve Jobs, vrchný pracovník Apple zverejnil minulý týždeň otvorený list, v ktorom tvrdí, že Flash je nevhodný pre mobilné telefóny a je „uzavretý a vlastnícky“ pretože Adobe kontroluje všetku technológiu. Nech už je to ako chce, stále je tu hodne kritikov Apple-u, ktorí si myslia, že ! spoločnosť robí z komára somára.

After a grim period of economic crisis, companies are finally starting to be relaxed and make bold acquisitions. In fact the computer market was not that affected by the economic crisis that led to the bankruptcy of so many companies. Even at the peaks of the recession, companies like Microsoft or Apple were making bold investment to renew their products or to expand the business. Let’s take a look at the world's largest computer company and systems integrator known under the name of IBM. Although last year the company spent with acquisitions less than they did this year just in the first quarter, the investment still rose to $1.5 billion whi! ch is a lot of money thinking that some companies would have used it to avoid going bankrupt. Taking into consideration, that IMB must keep up the flag of leadership and be one step ahead the competition, we should not be surprised that they purchase smaller companies with innovative projects. More than fact that Apple Inc has to face accusations from violating antitrust law surprised me that 1 million of iPads has been already sold since its debut in April 3. While I am surprised, many others are probably rather irritated (and probably a little jealous as well) than caught by surprise. One of them is Adobe Systems Inc, which thinks that Apple’s requirements violate law. Apple Inc requires its programming tools to be used to write applications for the iPad and iPhone and that’s what Adobe Systems disagree with. Their Flash software which provides video and build games would be probably much better at least in Adobe’s opinion, but Apple calls it ! a balky battery hog and refuses its use on their devices. But when you sold more than 50 million iPhones since their debut in 2007 and 1 million of iPads in one month, there is no surprise that someone (greedy) will protest! The Federal Trade Commission and the Justice Department which are enforcing U. S. antitrust law hasn’t made any decision yet, but former FTC policy director, David Balto thinks, that what is Apple doing is “clearly anticompetitive.” Justice Department and FTC declined to comment it, what leads me to question: is it really about violating law or is it just an old war that broke into the open? Steve Jobs, Apple Chief Executive published an open letter last week, where he claimed that Flash is unsuitable for mobile devices and “closed and proprietary” because of Adobe that controls the technology. Whatever it is, there are still enough Apple critics whose think that Apple make a mountain out of a molehill.
